If you could pick one of these things to happen on the voice..

Pick one

  1. 1. Pick one

    • All genres that have been on the show will be equally represented
    • Half the songs will have never been performed on the voice USA
    • Complete elimination of montages and shortclips and montaged/shortclipped performances from previous seasons will be released in full.
    • Go back to the longest format on The Voice USA (season 3 with 32 episodes, except now there are instant saves)

So this is just for fun. None of this will likely ever happen. You have a chance to improve the voice but can only pick one option, which would it be? Assume there is no overlap between the options. All options other than 4 will have the format length of season 21 and 22 (both have 26 episodes). Feel free to rank the options too.

1. Although there will likely only be a few fresh songs like every season, All genres that have been on the show will be represented equally. There will  be noticeably less representation of the most common genres on the show which is a downside for fans of said genres.

2. Although it will likely be your typical cast in terms of genre and representation, half the songs will have never been performed on the voice

3. commercials will be noticeably cut down. All contestants will get to have their performances shown in full. Also, now have access to the entire performances of previous montages and shortclips.

4. A 32 episode long season (just like season 3) except now instant saves are a thing.

3. This will only really affect prelives. But commercials will be noticeably cut down. All contestants will get to have their performances shown in full.

4. A 32 episode long season (just like season 3) except now instant saves are a thing. This will make it the season with the most performances ever.

3. No montages

Not gonna vote yet but after thinking a bit.

1. All genres that have been in show represented equally.

As a fan of rock and indie, this would be such a breath of fresh air to have multiple contestants in this genre and not just one per season. Also, yes to more jazz singers. Then there are other genres like punk, blues, americana that have been done on the show, but not often.

2. Half the songs are new.

I mean, this would be so refreshing considering we usually only get 1 or 2 new song choices per season. Even for the typical genres represented on the voice, there are so many other great songs out there other than the recycled ones that are used all the time (even though a lot of those songs are great too).

3. 32 episodes.

My first instinct was to put this one first. But you better hope you don't end up with a weak cast or one you don't like.

4. No montages. Release full performances of previous shortclips and montages.

Reason this one is so low is because first, this only really affects prelives, and 2nd, as much as shortclips and montages suck, you have to think they choose specific performances to montage and shortclip for a reason.. they perhaps weren't that good.

My vote is for “half the songs are new”. Even if all genres are represented on the show or if live shows are 10 weeks long, it’s gonna be a bore if most of what we get are covers of songs that have been done before (and better). What this show needs right now is some freshness.

It’s unfair to the artists but as viewers we’re probably not missing out much on those shortclipped/montaged performances anyway so :ph34rwave:

I agree

to be fair though thats been the case for half this shows existence and that's being probably being generous. I mean, even more reason to pick the option. But are you saying you've been boring yourself for seasons on end now? 🤔

I think Season 22 in particular suffered hard from that. Just look at the song choices of the Knockout winners. I’d Rather Go Blind? Can We Talk? Colder Weather? Most of these have already been done as KOs before.

I feel like Justin in particular is a big offender? He kept singing songs that were already great moments for other contestants.

Blinds: Glory - Victor Solomon

Knockouts: Can We Talk - Desz

Top 13: Break Every Chain - Kymberi Joye

Semifinals: Stand Up - Cam Anthony

You didn’t include this, but what I would really like is more non-competition performances.

The team performances (with or without the Coaches) are lame when they used to be amazing.  I still watch the S7 Team Gwen performance of Riptide regularly. The random combinations of non-battle pairs and trios was a highlight. Even the finale bringbacks have been eliminated and they were awesome.

Between 1 and 2 for sure. I went with 1 because for example I’d prefer country songs I’m less familiar with than country songs that have been done many times already, but id prefer even more to have at least some representation for stuff I actually listen to

3 - I mean yeah no montages would be better but I’m used to stuff like AI where a lot of contestants don’t even get shown in the middle part so I guess anything better than that is kinda okay with me?

4 - this is last for me honestly, I have a short attention span as is lol I will say I prefer fewer contestants and more live shows like S21 but like, just give me a PO and at least 4 more live shows and I’ll be fine

Yeah, although I would kinda argue that except for the SF, he kinda held his own on those songs? Not better than those versions you mentioned but still pretty good.

Same for Morgan honestly but she did it different enough that it was fine for me.

They need to diversify that song catalog cause I'm so bored.

I don't particularly need 32 episodes, I think the season 17/21 format is perfect they should stick with that.

Stop the montages and if it really is that bad, shortclip it or cut the intro package.

I despise montages. So indeed, if it´s that bad, at least shortclip it, but I´ve had too many performances that I was looking forward to see pre-season being montaged. The contestants deserve better, and it definitely would suck if you put on all the hard work just to see your screentime being reduced to seconds.

The song catalogue does need a fix though, although some of that is not really under TPTB´s control, I know there´s artists who won´t be willing to let their material on this show.

Her catalog was very similar to Alisan Porter’s, but different in a good way.

Surprised only 2 people have chosen half the songs being new considering how many complaints there are about overdone song choices every season..

I mean I almost chose it. I think there’s a clear split between people who choose 1 or 2 vs 3 or 4 lol

i suppose this is at least somewhat unpopular but i don’t really care about overdone song choices? if someone can do if i ain’t got you, ain’t no way, don’t you worry bout a thing, i who have nothing…. very well then i don’t care if it’s been done a lot. the problem is when the performance itself is only mediocre.

20-25% new songs is good for me

Yeah I actually agree.

It's just that the more overdone the song is, the harder it is to make your version stand out. Also because of the many great renditions over the years.

True, I think the issue for me if the song is overdone and I also don’t like it lol

Or if I like it and they do fine but don’t bring anything new.
