for being a Jennifer fan, I had not heard of this one.  The film stars Jennifer Aniston, Jake Gyllenhaal and John C. Reilly.  It was really good actually I felt like at the end I wanted to watch it again! Jennifer really made the movie what is was I think, she was really good and it was a bit of different role for her and she killed it. The plot was dark but funny at times. I really enjoyed this film as it is not one I would usually watch but was happy to get the chance to. I would recommend it to anymore.

I enjoyed this but I thought I was gonna love it. I did enjoyed the quirky characters, unconventional story, and the overall vibe of the film. Some things weren’t perfect but some of the comedy was great. Plus, the cast was great in its own unique way. Jennifer Aniston was great, so it is a pity that she hardly went for this kind of roles later on.

The Good Girl was a bit of an odd movie-watching experience. At first I thought it was kind of boring, but then the movie ends up going in a direction I wasn't anticipating. I just thought it would just be about this affair, but then the plot twists come regarding the pregnancy and then Jake Gyllenhaal's character's fate. I do think Jennifer Aniston does good work here. She goes against type, although the accent was a bit distracting. But was it a movie I enjoyed watching? Not necessarily. But I don't think the movie was a waste of time either. It was fine, but not a favorite.

MVP: John C. Reilly

Favorite Scene: The ending

Yeah I didn’t really like this at all. It was very nihilistic, assumedly intentionally so, yet also didn’t really have anything interesting to say. If I watched this in middle school I might’ve found it edgy. But watching it now, I found myself frequently rolling my eyes. The characters were unlikable, and not in a particularly complex or interesting way. It felt like nothing happened. These don’t have to be negatives. A film could have unlikable characters and be slow-paced. But there has to be a reason I’m watching. And there just simply wasn’t. I did kinda like Justine getting away with everything lol. Like you go girl! You have your little affair with Donnie Darko, get your baby, and face minimal consequences! But she’s still depressed and stuck in her small town and dead end job. Which I guess is the point. But I just wasn’t particularly entertained or enthralled. It was just slop.

TV actor round is lowkey amazing lol. My pick didn't really do the round justice, but something like this with Jennifer as the lead is fascinating. I feel like I have a harder time seeing TV actors that I know super well really transform into other roles. I don't know if it's an actor thing or a ME thing. Anyway I didn't really vibe with this at all. Affairs and secrets and "are they gonna find out" is stressful enough when I actually like the characters lol. But also it could just be a symptom of the fact that I had to watch it in 15 minute segments across multiple days. Apologies to Good Girl and Jennifer for that, maybe I'd like it better in one sitting.

I think Jennifer Actress is really great in this. I think she's really underrated as an actress. Again, I'd rank it #6 but we had 6 really good movies.

my personal ranking would have been:

1. Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar

2. Blue Valentine

3. Enough Said

4. Requiem for a Dream

5. The Fall Guy

6. The Good Girl

If you want to quick send something now you can! Your rankings only change two overall placements and don't change the winner so I'm sure no one would mind.

The combination of Mike White, Jennifer Aniston and Jake Gyllenhaal seemed like a recipe made just for me but I agree  that it didn’t entirely work.. i enjoyed for what it was but there was nothing too special about it

2024 is nearly over, and I can confidently say The Fall Guy is my favorite film of the year. This was a movie I was looking forward to watching when the trailers were released. I'm a fan of both Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, so it was cool they were starring in a film together. I saw The Fall Guy in the theaters opening weekend, and it did not disappoint. The movie was very entertaining. It's jam-packed with action sequences fitting for the big screen. In addition, it was a funny movie led well by Ryan Gosling. There was a period of time Ryan Gosling focused on more serious roles, but I like how he's taking on these more comedic roles lately. The Fall Guy can be very over-the-top with insane action sequences that aren't realistic, but that's part of the movie's charm. It's a fun popcorn flick that's never boring and keeps your attention throughout the entire runtime. The movie is a love letter to filmmakers, particularly those that work on movie stunts. In addition, Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt have great chemistry. It was easy for the audience to root for them to be together. It's too bad The Fall Guy didn't make a bigger impact at the box office. It's a very entertaining film that I would recommend to anyone who hasn't watched it yet.

The Fall Guy just came out last year. Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling had super fun chemistry throughout the film. I did not hate it, but I liked Barbie and oppenheimer better if we are discussing films by Emily and Ryan. IDK I felt like they wrote the film for Ryan Reyolds but then he didn't want to do it or something. I didn't hate it but both of them have much better films so I don't go back to watch this one again. It was funny for a one time watch though lol. I really love Emily Blunt! She's awesome.

Another Ryan Gosling. Again, I love Ryan Gosling. I love Emily Blunt. I love an action comedy romcom.

MVP: Hannah Waddingham

Favorite Scene: Jody beats up Colt when he sneaks up on her and reveals he's alive

I know I’ve talked about my struggles with watching action movies at home. I just need the theater atmosphere to be invested in them. Or they need to be something extraordinary. Unfortunately this was not extraordinary, and just barely hit ordinary. I was pretty much able to predict the entire plot within the first 15 minutes. Knew Gail was gonna be the mastermind. Knew Colt & Jody were gonna get together in the end. Hell, when they talked about Tom Ryder always forgetting his mic is on, I knew that would end up becoming a pivotal point in the movie. Though I’m glad Gail was the mastermind because Waddingham was amazing after the reveal and I’m glad she wasn’t wasted in some boring producer’s role.

The movie was good. I appreciated it as a love letter to stuntmen. It was made with a lot of love for them, and movies in general. I enjoyed some of the scenes of them clearly having fun with the self-referential nature of the movie, such as the split screen scene with Colt & Jody when they were discussing on the phone the pros and cons of a split screen. It did border on too meta Marvel humor at times though. The Jason Momoa bit at the end with the Dune-esque movie was great! But overall, I didn’t really buy the love story. Gosling & Blunt felt like they were on autopilot at times. And it just wasn’t a movie for me. I think I would’ve enjoyed it a bit more if I saw it in theaters. But not much.

As stated previously I'm kind of a Ryan Gosling hater, but in roles like this I tolerate him a little better. Something more silly and action kind if disguises some of my pet peeves with him. But let's be honest, I've never seen him do a bad job in a movie so I won't pretend he's not good. Emily is interesting hahaha I feel like she's fine? I loved her in Prada and that was kind of a smaller role, loved her in edge of Tomorrow, but beyond she's just kind of there. Meanwhile Hannah can do anything and I'm obsessed. Same for Stephanie. I wonder what this would have been like with different actors

It is a fun movie but nothing really that special. I think both Ryan Gosling and Emily blunt have played these same characters in better movies, so I finished this movie with my expectation not totally met. I sae this on May and somehow I thought I gave it a lower rating. I just didn't have the energy to rewatch this.

And why use an Aaron Taylor-Johnson photo in the post instead of one with Ryan Gosling and/or Emily Blunt? :lmao:
