For a premiere week that hasn´t been that well recieved here (although, that´s always the case lol, sans S16), interesting that no one has an average score below 7. 

 

That being said, no 9s either.

After a few relistens of the top 5 performances, I'm not even sure I'd have Noivas at top 5.

 

I think Carlos was a pretty solid audition with no issues, just didn't stand out.. I'd have it above D. Smooth and certainly above Michael B. I think I'd also have magnus near the bottom.

 

Otherwise not much disagreements.

 

I do think overall, this premiere was stronger than last seasons. There weren't any performances with glaring vocal issues like Alyssa or David. But I'd also say no one has topped Omar or even Morgan yet. (Not counting the most recent leak)

That being said, no 9s either.

To be fair, Parijita was the only one that got an average above 9 from all the auditions. It's hard to reach an average that high

Congratulations to NOIVAS. Despite all the criticism, he still got the first place in the ranking so far. If he keeps this level he is gonna surpass most of the auditions from last season

Yeah, maybe there haven't been auditions of the level of Wendy and GNT anymore. 

 

EDIT: I checked the ratings from Season 21 and GNT didn't reached an average of 9 for their audition, either. Wendy, Holly and Gymani where the ones that got more than 9

I was gonna say my rating could've made a difference for Carlos, but I rated him and Michael similarly low so probably not. I'll say if I were forced to choose, I'd listen to Michael, the beginning was decent/good and at least he was kinda interesting.

you're right. i think a lot of people got really hyped up by the performance and only realized later that there were some vocal issues that knocked it down. iirc that was the case for me.

We overhyped Holly too much at the beggining. She was supposed to be Ariana's frontrunner after KO spoilers and even there were predictions of her being the winner .

 

If was after the KOS that we started to realize that she was not that great. And the Playoffs were the nail in the coffin.

so i relistened to them with just audio, i tabbed over to here when listening so i'd just be focusing on vocals. i tried to consider the global impression i had, rather than a score based on the sum of each individual moment. [i'll include some insights as well]

 

Neil: 8 [his excited energy on-stage adds a lot to the performance; listening without watching was a different experience]

Sorelle: 9 [one of the sisters has a very strong upper belt -- i look forward to hearing more of that]

Holly: 8.5 [i find that the main detractor here was enunciation, i think]

Tasha: 8.5 [lots of uneven moments, but overall a very pleasant performance]

Ross: 5 [lacking energy, oomph]

Michael: 3 [challenging to listen to the second half]

Alex: 8.5 [i loved how he sang "i don't care what's right or wrong"]

D.Smooth: 6 [not all vocal choices were of my taste, but better than my first impression]

NOIVAS: 8 [lots of vocal issues, but he went hard in this performance]

 

Sheer Element: 6.5 [same as Ross, lacking energy for most of the performance]

Magnus: 9 [although there were small vocal issues, i thought the performance was generally strong]

Carlos: 8 [boosted by the fact that i like the song itself, but the vocals weren't particularly exciting]

Kala: 8.5 [i realize that i don't really like her voice at the end; it leans toward cursive to me]
