I just watched her segment on my DVR. That was a really favorable edit for Grace.

Grace came across as likable, down-to-earth, and hard-working. Despite not having experience on a big stage, she didn't seem nervous during the audition. On the app, 81% turned for Grace and 96% correctly guessed she would pick Blake as her coach.

She seemed very at ease on stage, in the intro package, and post performance while bantering with the coaches. I sensed no nerves at all.

recap by Mark Franklin

Grace West, 19, Kent, Michigan, "Maybe It Was Memphis," by Pam Tillis

Grace showed off a great country tone. And the second she hit the chorus, Blake Shelton and Niall Horan turned. Niall called her voice impeccable and predicted people in America will love her. Blake said he hears Pam Tillis in her voice and called her a great female country artist. Grace opted to join Team Blake, completing his final team on The Voice.

As I rewatch, I think an underrated aspect of this performance is her stage presence. It isn’t always necessary to run around to have command of the stage, and she showed that in this performance. She looked like someone with more experience performing on big stages than she has. That’s something I had actually been wondering about, because In pretty much all of her Nashville gigs, she’s sitting in a chair with her guitar.

Agree. She seemed very comfortable and at ease throughout. I loved it.

I'm glad to see Michigan outlets featuring Grace's audition.

MLive Media Group covers "the latest Michigan local news" and claims to be "the most read news site" in the state.

WITL-FM 100.7 is a Townsquare Media radio station that "plays the best new country music in Lansing, Michigan."

USAToday.com gave Chance the headline, but Edward Segarra wrote:

Kelly Clarkson backs Blake Shelton during his final chair turn

Nashville-based songwriter Grace West earned chair turns from Shelton and Horan with her warm cover of “Maybe It Was Memphis” by Pam Tillis.

“I moved to Nashville when I was 17 (and) worked for a publishing company there, but I always wanted to just be a country singer … so I relate to that so much,” Shelton told the 19-year-old. “I would be honored if you would join the last Team Blake as the last person that I will ever hit this freakin’ worn-out button for.”

In an uncharacteristic move, Shelton’s “Voice” frenemy Clarkson praised Shelton as a coach and suggested he may be a better fit for West than Horan.

“Niall has been killing it, and he is a singer-songwriter,” Clarkson said. “But I also have known Blake for years, and he’s the guy (who) really does help artists out.”

Shelton’s final chair turn went out with a bang, with West choosing to join Team Blake.

“My heart swells up to think about my journey on this show – 23 seasons – and for the last artist for me to hit this button for,” Shelton said. “I did get a little bit shook up.”
