The trailer for the US version of The Traitors just came out! All episodes dropping on Peacock on January 12th.

Along with 10 newbies to reality television, 10 reality tv vets will be playing the game:

Arie Luyendyk Jr. (Bachelor/Bachelorette)
Brandi Glanville (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hill)
Cirie Fields (Survivor)
Cody Calafiore (Big Brother)
Kate Chastain (Below Deck)
Kyle Cooke (Summer House)
Rachel Reilly (Big Brother)
Reza Farahan (Shahs of Sunset)
Ryan Lochte (Olympian)
Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick (Survivor)

I don't think the show is big enough yet for each country to have its own thread, but there's been a UK and AUS versions of the show which have already aired. The UK one was really fun and I'm planning on starting the AUS one today hopefully. Feel free to discuss these versions in this thread as well if you'd like.

So the UK one I just finished the other day. I really enjoyed it! I think it peaked in the fourth episode with the Tom & Alex reveal and the entire meltdown at breakfast, but I was pretty enthralled the entire way. I had a few issues. I find the challenges completely and utterly pointless and boring. I also don't really like having people switch teams so close to the end. Especially since Kieran was forced to switch against his will. I think Wilfred kinda got screwed since he was playing it really well having Hannah & Meryl's full trust and loyalty. He played the loyals so well, I think he misplayed the traitors. I think turning on Amanda was a mistake and obviously the way he handled Kieran was a mistake. Wilf's hands were tied in some ways, but I still think he made some serious errors. With so much of the show being a shitshow, I think the three dumbest players winning is kinda hilar :dead:

I feel like this show came out of and blew up out of nowhere. :dead: I heard about it a month (or 2) ago but now I see all these versions. :haha:  It's cool and interesting an American version is coming out next week.

The American celeb cast looks interesting. I know a good majority of those celebs (like 7 or 8 ) so I think I will plan on watching the American version. If I like it well enough, I may venture off to checking out other versions.

Peacock dropping all the episodes at once feels like a massive error. The UK one was really successful and I think the word of mouth really helped that along with the discussion of what could happen between episodes. The binge model works for some tv, but not competition reality tv. It needs discussion and speculation to succeed. Some idiot is gonna binge watch it at midnight and spoil it for everyone else.

I agree with all of this. And what's funny is that the  Australia season was kinda the opposite of the UK show. It started off really slow the first 3 or 4 episodes were a little hard to get through but once you got to like episode 4 or 5 I forget which one it was it picked up tremendously and was awesome all the way to the end. So in general I prefered the Australian season to the UK one. The US one I have 0 interest in since they are just using the same people over and over again so pass. What was nice about seeing different countries shows is that the people there were different and really refreshing to watch compared to the people that get cast on our shows.

I'm shocked Peacock is doing this because they usually release most of their shows one or two episodes a week (or at least the ones I know about) I agree that this is also a bad idea too.

I’m unsure how I feel about a celebrity version. :ph34rwave:

I think the magic of the UK series was that we didn’t know the people. We didn’t know how they’d act, how they would interact with each other or the lengths they were willing to go to win the money. We already know that most of these reality show contestants are cut throat so will it just be a messy season of constant power plays? I’m very open because Brandi is my favourite housewife ever and Rachel is probably my favourite BBUS player but if they go early I probably won’t finish it unless Alan Cummings can be as iconic as Claudia.

I hope this is just a warmup of what’s to come and the next season (if there is one after releasing all the episodes at once :whut:) and it’s normal people cast.

The UK one was called the best series in years.  It’s probably the only television show in years that has made the headlines over and over. It went huge on social media too. The BBC isn’t great with reality tv but they absolutely smashed this.

They are also currently casting for Survivor UK next year!

Finally found time to get into Traitors UK, spoilers through the first six episodes below.

I'm halfway through and predictably I'm obsessed. I actually wasn't too sure about it at first. I found the eliminations to be arbitrary and the tasks to be pointless. I started to get into it by the third episode when Aaron had a panic attack and John started railing into him and I was like omgggggg the claws are out!!!! Episode 4 was absolutely the turning point though when Tom revealed his relationship with Alex and literally half the cast collectively melted down in the middle of breakfast . I forgot what having a serotonin rush during a reality show felt like.

Of course Maddy is my favorite lmao. Single-handedly saving herself with her theory that Wilfred turned on Aaron which caused him to have a panic attack meaning they're both traitors . Being completely wrong, but since Wilfred actually is a traitor he can't actually do anything about it  (and Wilfred further proving her right by doing Alyssa dirty the exact way she thinks he tried doing Aaron dirty lmao). Also adore Amanda, Alex, and Aaron and am rooting for them. Amanda & Alex are more typical me favos, queens, HBICs, etc. Aaron I was surprised about, but I found his panic attack to be c00t and he's just an innocent himbo king who is not cut out for the game, but is getting dragged along as a shield for Wilfred ❤️. Anyways, I managed to watch six episodes yesterday lmao and I'm hoping to finish today or tomorrow the latest and then watch Traitors Australia

This is out now. Watched the first three episodes so far

Predictably the reality stars are really stealing the show. I don’t know if I’m upset that they’re hogging all the airtime or relieved we have them cause these newbies suck lol. Michael’s the only newbie making a splash and certainly not in a good way. I think I might like Anjelica and wanna see more from her.

But yeah we’re here for the vets. The Brandi & Kate duo was everything and I’m devestated we lost Brandi so soon, though she made the most of her exit . Hopefully Kate can stick around for a bit. They were a bit mean to Michael, but also like let’s bring being mean back to rtv idc anymore!

Cirie, Rachel, and Steph are also as great as I’d expected them to be. Cirie is thriving in her role in a traitor and she’s doing really well so far. If Cody ruins this for her I will cyber bully him till the end of time. I’m glad to see Rachel as a loyal, I think she works in that role. And Steph losing her mind over Kate’s hitlist made me lol, looking forward to what comes from that. I also love my himbo king Ryan lol. He is so out of place

So far I’ve been enjoying it! I think losing Brandi so soon might be a bad loss for the drama, but I still have hope. Maybe some of these newbies can step up to the plate. I don’t think we’ll get anything as epic as the episode four breakfast from the UK version, but I’ll take anything!

How are the new people?

Four episodes in, invisible outside of like three lol. The reality stars are completely the main characters.

Some how I think I will live without seeing them on tv for the 36th time.

Unless you're secretly a Below Deck fan, I don't think you've seen the star of the show so far at all :haha:
