Well i don't have a number one favorite performance but Dream On is definitely up there so I picked Yes

picked no because although the performance is vocally impressive, i didn’t get the emotional connection i often get w a ballad or with a contestant who i feel more personally invested in.

Lol I was only impressed in the ending of the performance with the high note…90% of the song was pretty normal for me

It seems the bar is really high for females.

 

On the best vocalists thread, Tess, Sisaundra, Maelyn, and Alisan, all literally had the same amount of mentions. Kyla and Wendy had just 1 or 2 more.  I think that's the reason Kyla and Amanda are getting a lot of "No"votes. IDF is really divided.

 

For males it's always been between Josh and Jordan, so I won't be shocked if Jordan wins his poll.

I mean, it's IDF, so I wasn't surprised at all.

 

Btw, we all do that (In general, maybe you don't), whenever it's our favorite we always pick them, no matter what the question is.

lol fair i voted yes on kyla in the other poll when i don’t think she showed off much head voice stuff (but i think it’s a MUCH stronger than maelyn as strongest vocalist)

I think too, but lol you know, if there is a poll where I have to pick between Jordan and Freddie Mercury, I'd pick Jordan in a heartbeat despite the fact that Freddie is one of the best vocalists of all time.

Yeah top female has a ton of competition where as top male is a much easier award to win. Jordan doesn't have the competition that the other girls do.

While I wouldn't pick Maelyn as the top vocalis I don't fault people for doing so. You don't have to have the biggest voice to be considered I think. There's a lot more to it then just that.

This is true. Honestly, Jordan might be the only male that I'd put in the top 5 lol.

 

Vocally females have been killing it all seasons.

I agree on this tho. That's the reason I went with Tessanne, and not with Kyla.

I think I would *probably* pick Tessane too but it's incredibly difficult to pick just 1 person.

It’s definitely top 10 all time, male or female. Personally I’d probably have a performance or two by Alisan or Kimberly above, but I think what Amanda did might be more impressive.

 

Also Amanda deserved better, Xtina was so rude to her that season lol

House of the Rising Sun - Kimberly Nichole and Hold On, We’re Going Home - Christina Grimmie are imo the best female performances with Amanda being in about the top 5.

It also depends on how you define the best performance. Because there are songs that are technically pretty flawless and there are songs that that make you feel as certain way. I will greatly respect the technically great songs but will always prefer the songs that make me feel something over them.

With all due respect, saying that Maelyn is popular only because of her tone can sound, sort of dismissive, you know? She may not have a lot of power but re-listening to her performances, i get the impression that she was always pitch-perfect on the show. She hit every single note with ease, effortlessly. Yes, having perfect pitch is something that probably required less work for her than for the powerhouses with all the marvelous vocal tricks they do, but, how many contestants (powerhouses or not) has managed to be pitch-perfect on all of their performances during the show? Probably very few. I'm not an expert on this topic, at all, in fact, i don't know literally nothing about vocals, but this is just my humble opinion based on what my ears tell me. 

 

Also, i was watching a video of a vocal coach praising her vocal intonation.  What i get from what the vocal coach said, is that she didn't just sang, she used vocal techniques to embellish every song , to give "colors" to the songs, and it worked wonderfully, if you ask me. She may not have a lot of power, but that woman knows how to use her voice. And all of that is part of her appeal.
