Contestants you didn't like or were indifferent to based on pre-show performances, but became a fan during their voice journey, and vice versa.

I think it's fair to say the majority of us are interested in a contestant before their voice journey airs. But who are some contestants you had no interest in based on their preshow performances, but became a fan when they sung on the voice?

 

Let's not count contestants we didn't know anything about or didn't listen to their pre show covers, for example, no one knew anything about Justin aaron)

 

And how about contestants you were heavily invested in. But their voice journey did nothing for you?

For the former, Hailey Mia didn't capture my interest  based on the stuff shown in her fan thread, but when her voice journey started, specifically lives, I was very impressed. Looking back, Hailey was almost if not just as consistent as a lot of the older contestants who made it far (Joshua, Jershika)

 

For the latter. Katherine Ann Mohler was one of the few fan threads I joined before the show aired, was one of my favourites before the show started. But I wasn't impressed with her voice journey, and she unfortunately hasn't posted anything in the form of covers or original music since then.

joshua vacanti !!!!!

 

i was not a fan of his blind (too uncontrolled) and his battle was a little crazy lol but knockouts onward… one of my favorite contestants of the season.

 

he and katie rae had my favorite knockouts.

For the former, i don't know, maybe Ryleigh Modig?? I was not interested on her pre-show material, she seemed like an average indie girl to me. But then she slayed her performances on the show. I enjoyed her run a lot

 

For the latter, Jeremy. I loved his covers pre-season but i wasn't impressed with a lot of his performances on the show. It didn't help that a lot of his song choices were quite bad.

Kim Cruse — I was indifferent towards her pre-season… once she got to the lives I became fully onboard.

Interesting. I think I generally like her preseason stuff more, especially her race at the blue performances and song association on terrell.

 

Both are great to me though.

The thread is more about not caring about their preshow stuff but being into their voice journey, unless you also watched some of Joshua's preshow performances as well? Then I suppose that would qualify.

 

But yeah, I think the majority didn't care about Joshua much until his KO. Me being among them.

Indifferent -> Fan

- Was honestly not huge on Devix's videos pre-season but then his audition came and I loved him. Even ended up finding some gems on his socials when I scrolled back further.

- I had hard time getting excited about David Vogel pre-season as well but I liked his (short) run on the show.

 

Fan -> Indifferent

- I liked a lot of Holly Forbes' singing videos before the show but then her audition kind of underwhelmed me. After that it went even more downhill.

- Alyssa Witrado. I loved her tone from the few videos she had on IG but unfortunately she had vocal issues all season.

gihanna zoë iirc? i think i remember finding her voice to be slightly nasally for me pre-show, but being interested. she later became my favorite of the season!

Yeah, I tuned into Alyssa's most recent live on Instagram and she sounded better than she ever did in the lives.. her IG clips are gorgeous for sure.

 

Iholly Forbes went from being gone of the most hyped contestants and that slowly died down, especially when lives came around.

 

I personally still really like her blind and KO.

I didnt pay much attention to Will Breman pre-show, yet he became one my favorites during it.

 

I liked Dexter Roberts's run way more than I expected pre-season.

It honestly took me a while to appreciate Carter Rubin. I didn't fall in love with him until he sang "You Say" in the knockouts, I was in tears.

Kala Banham. She was clearly forgotten before we get to watch her potentials during the show.
