I think you're right, the excitement and nerves threw her off because she has a really good tone

It started off really good but once she uttered the title of the song it was pretty rough and shaky vocally.

She's clearly inexperienced, and may have chose a song that was too big for her, but her tone is nice. I think she and Kate needed a different song to really shine.

Alyssa was pitchy, and a bit breathy!

A bit shaky, but it's a tricky song to cover and she did start off on the right foot so it's mostly just getting decent songs + sticking the landing.

Alyssa's excitement is really infectious though. Same with Reina earlier.

I love it when the artists are actually excited to be on this stage.

Gwen songs are hard, she has such a unique voice that its rare to hear a cover that someone does justice to.

Alyssa’s audition honestly wasn’t pitch perfect but she has a nice distinctive tone and I love her personality and stage presence

yeah agreed. And a lot of Gwen's songs aren't what I would call good choices for a singing competition, like I'm just a girl is a great song...but probably not to audition for the voice
