Β Β I think I speak for everyone when I say: I was NOT expecting this song choice, at all!Β I think Steven really felt like he needed to sing something vocally bombastic since it's a singing competition. I will say that this performance actually showed a side of Steven's voice that I didn't hone in on pre-season.... he actually does have a grit and vibrato similar to his previous collaborator, Michael Bolton. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the audition a lot, even if it sits pretty much on the edge of his vocal range. This explains the weird KO song choice as well. It seems that they stuck Steven in the power ballad lane during his run, and it may have contributed to his early exit. Which is a shame, since I know Steven is much better in his singer/songwriter rock/alternative lane. Either way, I enjoyed what I heard, even if it's not what we expected. Β After his blind, I can totally see how pairing him up with Morgan made sense on paper - their tones seemed like they could work together very well, but it was going to be a big ask for Steven (or any of Team Camila tbh).
