I saw a montage of three season 7 battles online in which none of the battles were even shown. I wonder if they were that bad.

Australia's not first to do that actually. I think The Voice of Holland's coach Anouk was first to send both artist home (although one of them was stolen). Also I saw that happen in Polish version and that was like a 2 or 3 years ago.

 

Going off-topic, but The Voice Australia is pretty heavy on dramatics, so if you like that, you should definitely watch it

I think it's not realistic for them to be so bad, they couldn't show even like a tiny bit of those battles. Especially, they already have shown a montage of a battle that wasn't good and they didn't cover it - Rudy vs Charlie in season 3. I think Clara vs Rebekah was just boring (mostly because of a song choice), Tanner vs Justin have potential to be bad, because they were both young and Justin's blind wasn't really good imo. Stop and Stare battle was always a mystery for me tho, it sounded pretty good on studio and Grant look really happy when Blake comments the battle.

Ok, as a fan of season 3 i disagree with Conga being near the worst, because it was entertaining af but Terisa should have won that. But after rewatching Telephone battle I'm shocked how bad Cody was. I dont blame him because that song choice is really something else. But for me the worst battle of season 3 was always Dez vs Paulina, i dont like the song + Paulina was so pitchy i felt bad for her.

Yeah, it's true.  In what ended up being her final season as a coach, Kelly ended up eliminating both members of one of her Knockout pairings when they both underdelivered.  I have already forgotten their names, but someone who knows the show better can fill those names in.  But Kelly outright told the host that she couldn't, in good conscience, let either of them go through after their performances, because she felt like neither one was ready for the Lives.

From what I recall, Blake, Nick, and especially Kelsea all struggled to find anything good to say about it.  Not even John could.  He was almost tempted to pull a Kelly (Rowland) and send both of them home (and it certainly would have been warranted).  But apparently, our version doesn't allow that like Australia's does.  Trust me when I say that Ciana didn't win that Battle.  She simply didn't lose.  John preempting his choice by saying that he was going to pick the one who was "less messy" pretty much implies that.

Yes, and you weren't the only person to say this. That taping had quite a few sources and it was unanimously a terrible battle. I know one of them said it was terrible the whole way through and Ciana only won because she made one successful run but that not even the coaches were very positive.

This makes me so sad! From the montage alone, Ciana and Denisha's voices really seemed to compliment each other and it really seemed like it would've been one of the best S20 battles. Ciana and Denisha sounded gorgeous in the little clip we got, so I guess kudos to the editors for montaging it and making them look good to the general audience?

I just happened to come across this battle the other day, and I then happened to look through this thread. I thought this battle was pretty good - definitely not deserving of being on a “the worst” list.

Agree. I think it was a bit of an awkward song for Brittany, but Trey sounded really good. In my ideal world, Blake would've picked Trey, Brittany would've gone home, and Xtina would've stolen Mike Schiavo instead.

I actually really liked how Brittany sounded. While both would have been deserving winners, I would have picked Brittany, but Trey would have been a good steal (I’d have to watch the other battles that season to know for sure though).
