I liked her during her season. It sucks she had to be paired against The Bundys. She's definitely talented. Please add me.

Added!

That battle was such a flop by The Voice on so many levels. Pairing 14 year old against a trio is bad enough, but then to pick the trio’s favorite song, and arrange the performance to give them every advantage. I’ve heard enough of Mikaela to conclude she could wipe the floor with any one of the three on a level ground. Even the post performance commentary was cringe as hell, especially with Mikaela standing up there looking uncomfortable about what was obviously about to happen. It was a recipe for disaster. The Bundys obviously didn’t benefit from this either. They might as well have left that week too, because they were done.

Whoa…I just noticed their Spotify account is up to 396K monthly listeners. It was at 214K on Tuesday. Hopefully, people keep listening to Christmas music for at least for a few more days.

I wonder if they have a non-Christmas single ready to go? 🤔 I’ll be surprised if they don’t, honestly. Their team seems to know what they’re doing.

532K monthly Spotify listeners as of today. A jump of 136K in one day. I think they’ll still get more in the next few days. What’s really encouraging is that every song on the EP took a big jump over the last couple days. That means lots of people are hearing one song on a playlist and checking out the entire EP. They’ll benefit from this every year too, like Jordan Smith does.

Random thought…I don’t recall anyone ever leading off with a Christmas EP, but it seems like a brilliant strategy.

They also had the benefit of their music playing at The ViacomCBS (parent company of Nickelodeon) building in Times Square. I’m

assuming their non-Christmas releases will get that treatment too.

Yeah, but it looks like it’s paying off - take advantage of the holiday favorites to get people interested and then deliver the originals later.

True, but it’s important to note that “Let It Snow,” “Holiday Gift,” and “Winter Getaway” are original songs. 518 Productions is listed as the songwriter for those three tracks on Apple Music. I couldn’t really find anything under that name, so I don’t know who the actual songwriters are. It’s probably a newly formed entity.

True. “Winter Getaway” is their most popular release thus far (I’m only looking at Spotify here), though I’m guessing they promoted it as a single (?). The next most popular (again, looking at Spotify here) are “12 Days of Christmas,” “Silent Night,” and “Jingle Bells” - three covers.

“Winter Getaway” was on a semi-popular playlist. “12 Days of Christmas” was on a smaller playlist. The two music videos for “Let It Snow” and “Holiday gift” have over a million views each, but didn’t get the Spotify playlist treatment. So, only two songs are on playlists, but they were able to get a decent number of plays on all tracks over the last several days.

I just checked out a few of her recent YT covers. There are several good ones, but this one is amazing. Minivan wouldn’t know the song, but it would still be a moment on The Voice.

You know, Idol could use someone like her on the next season… 😏 She’s at such a good spot career-wise though, so I wouldn’t recommend taking that route right now. Also, in terms of Minivan not knowing the song, the beautiful thing about Mikaela’s post-show career is that she doesn’t need to worry about all that, as Minivan isn’t her target audience. :shiftywave: TPTB should try getting this cleared for next season.

Well, I was serious about minivan approving, and they really should clear that song. It’s a good one. I definitely agree that she doesn’t need to go on Idol, and I highly doubt she’d consider it.

  • 1 month later...

They’ve been in LA for several weeks now, and have been posting stuff from recording studios and such. I would imagine that means there will be some new music soon. There appears to be pretty solid financial backing behind this group, so I’m assuming they will get pushed hard. All it takes is one hit song!
