Season 2 Jesse Campbell

After Xtina picked him in the “Battle that launched the Steals”, he became (or was willing to show that he was) insufferable behind the scenes.

In one those last minute rule changes, they gave the Coaches an extra round to pick instead of the public. She let him go.

His fellow S2 artist Pip then tweeted “ Ding dong, the witch is dead”!

That's really interesting. I've been watching this show since season 2 and I never knew he was that way behind the scenes.

P.S. I don't know if this is unpopular here but I loved Pip while season 2 was going on.

Y'all take this with a GRAIN OF SALT but I started speculating a while now on maybe some drama that happened behind the scenes of season 20....and I remember Raine and Lindsay being in a live where Raine said something about a producer (Coltin I think, he interacts a lot with contestants via social media) saying they'd tell her about contestants unfollowing her (from the top 20) since apparently there were a lot of those. A lot of this live was them "exposing" the show (it really wasn't much but they were talking about them not being able to choose songs and how crappy the sound is while you perform, aka you can't hear yourself and they thought it was unprofessional that they couldn't use in-ears pre lives. Also they said eliminated contestants don't get auto-tuned while those who move on do, even in battles. So there was a lot of tea spilled there but it wasn't anything too major.)

Anyways I did my research afterwards and saw that many people who followed Raine before weren't following her anymore. Even some who were friends of hers and hopped on lives with her from time to time (aka Rachel, Zae, Ryleigh, these were the most noticeable examples and they were also really good friends between them during the show). So I always assumed the unfollows were a response to Raine's comment about Kelly saying she regretted using her steal earlier since she couldn't steal Raine (even though she did say she meant no disrespect to Zae and that was just what she said)

So yeah maybe there was some resentment from Zae & friends or maybe something else was going on. Maybe I was reading too much into the situation lol but it felt odd that people who constantly interacted with Raine (especially Ryleigh, who I remembered hopped on a live with her and they had a blast) suddenly unfollowed her after the comment she made about Zae and then about Coltin in the ig lives.

Not sure if this belongs in the gossip thread instead lol but the creation and heatness of this thread led me to post this lol

Pip’s battle partner, Nathan Parrett, actually said in an article that on the night Jesse got eliminated, he was sad about Jordis Unga, the other contestant that got eliminated that night, but that Jesse had to go. “That diva’s time was up”. He said Jesse had a huge ego on the show and he thought it was all about him, and had his own stylists. He also mentioned Jordis, Chris Mann and Tony Lucca as some of his favorite people on the show in that same article.

I don´t think anybody from the cast has spoken negatively about Marisa.

She, however, did retweet several things that actively disrespected Tanner (and Kelly for that matter).

I looked through Sid's twitter and he liked several tweets that were talking some sense into Marisa/ Opposing her tantrum. It was pretty clear he didn't tolerate what she was doing.

Having kept up with Sid post-show, he’s a pretty laid-back guy in general, so I’m not surprised he didn’t have much patience for her antics.

From Wikipedia: The live performance show aired on Monday, April 16, 2012, followed by an elimination show aired Tuesday, April 17, 2012. In a surprise twist, for the next two weeks, for the first time, each coach must make an Instant Elimination, meaning that at the end of the show both coaches must eliminate an artist from their teams. The remaining three artist faces a public vote; the artist with the highest vote advances while the other two artists compete for the coaches' save during the Last Chance Performances. The first week feature Team Blake and Team Christina.

SO his was how Xtina got rid of the diva Jesse Campbell. She instantly eliminated him.

So much to say about him.

I mean first of all... the Wikipedia page that he clearly wrote for himself:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Campbell_(singer)

Jesse Campbell is an American / International Recording Artist Who sings heart-felt, Universal music with soul.....

In 2012, he became a contestant on season two of the American television program The Voice, where he auditioned singing Leon Russell's "A Song for You". All four judges (Adam Levine, CeeLo Green, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton) hit the "I Want You" button for him, within 25 seconds of the song. He chose to be part of the team of Christina Aguilera.

In the Battle round, he was put against Anthony Evans, another R&B/gospel singer. In a duet, they sang the Alicia Keys song "If I Ain't Got You", in what was described as the best contested match-up for the night, with Campbell carrying the day to move to the live rounds.

Christina Aguilera shocked the nation when she decided to eliminate Campbell during the live quarterfinals. Campbell's final words were "I lived a dream. How I relate to myself while in the process becomes the process, and I am grateful".

And I mean, he's a hell of a vocalist... but I remember watching his final performance as it aired and it felt super cringe:

I was so curious with the case of Jesse Campbell that I had a little research. Team Christina had Jesse, Ashley de la Rosa, Lindsey Pavao, and Chris Mann during that week. Chris Mann got the PV, as expected. But between the remaining three, Jesse had the better performance. Ashley was decent, Lindsey was a disaster singing Part of Me by Katy Perry. It was completely a shocker when Christina instantly eliminated Jesse at the time.

If I remember it half way correctly, Xtina said something about keeping the singers who could benefit from her continued coaching and eliminating the one who she couldn’t do much for. But the whole thing was a set-up to get rid of him.

There’s no doubt he was a talented singer, but if TPTB were willing to upend the rules and let Xtina ditch him, he must have been a holy terror.

I am SCREAMING - one of you on IDF must be a Wikipedia nut like me, because AS SOON as his Wikipedia page was posted on this thread, someone marked the article for deletion. I love y'all. 🤣

As a bonus, if you look further into the editing notes on Wikipedia, you can see some MORE things that he very obviously wrote himself. Someone deleted ALL OF IT at one point in 2020 because it was super biased.

Y'all. This has made my morning. 🤣 Some of my favorite parts:

There are only a few artists that have a signature sound that you can immediately identify. Jesse Campbell is one of those singers who is an international recording artist that sings heart-felt universal music with soul. He is a connector, with a strong determination to put his imprint on each song he sings. His fans are loyal, his dedication to his art is unprecedented, his passion for the music he brings forth has a spirit-filled intensity that permeates directly into the hearts of his audiences. Originality is his greatest attribute and his charismatic personality coupled with his courageous energy is a winning formula in today's musical landscape.

There is no surprise that Jesse's foundation was born in the church. At the age of sixteen, he began leading songs with the church choir in Chicago, Illinois where his father Bishop W.J. Campbell presides. His unique talent was soon discovered and became the featured soloist on the early recordings of The Winans and Timothy Wright. (As a personal note, there's no way anyone else wrote that; it includes his father's name and stuff from his childhood. 🤣)

The stars aligned and Jesse was invited to join the second season of the NBC hit reality show "The Voice", where almost 40 million viewers got a glimpse of his electrifyingly euphoric vocal abilities. During his blind audition, within seconds of his first note, all four celebrity judges Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton turned their chairs in astonishment to the caliber of the artistry they were witnessing. Each judge gave him the highest accolades and began vying for him to become a member of their respective teams. Jesse opted for the incomparable Christina Aguilera for she vowed ‘to work hard for him’. One of the highlights of his experience on the show was when he dedicated a very touching rendition of the song "Halo" to his daughter Soraya in front of the world. "The Voice of Asia" acknowledged Jesse's talent during his performance as the guest recording artist, by offering him a permanent position as one of their four celebrity judges.

Social media has been an invaluable tool as Jesse walks this corridor of creating a new musical horizon. This platform allows fans to interact with him, request songs, ask questions and are eager to like and share his live scopes with their friends from all over the world. To date, he has garnered millions of views and the love just keeps growing. "I do what I do for the love of it – and my fans!" [...] He is celebrated as one of today's most gifted singers, whose unique, captivating vocals continues to inspire people from all walks of life. He is devoted to his craft and his fans and continues to carve out his purposed steps catapulting him to a place where his dreams have become reality.
