In this thread we'll discuss what would have happened if a coach made a different decision, or "What if ____ contestant didn't withdraw from the competition

I'll start with "What if Gwen saved her steal for Marisa Corvo, like she was originally supposed to?

 

Gwen's PO team would have been

 

Carter Rubin (PV)

Payge Turner

Joseph Soul

Marisa Corvo

 

Gwen's CS would be Payge, and Marisa would compete for WC, but would lose to Bailey Rae

What if Hannah Goebel didn't withdraw from S14?

First of all Alexa and Hannah wouldn't have been montaged and it would have been an AMAZING battle.

 

I think Kelly would have chosen Alexa as the winner of the battle, and Alicia would use her steal on Hannah, instead of Dallas Caroline

 

Britton would be paired against Hannah in the KOs, instead of Dallas

 

From there is hard to say what the result would be, since we have no idea what Hannah would have done in the KOs, but I'm just gonna say Britton wins and Hannah is eliminated

Alexa would have also made sense as a Knockout partner for Britton. And we would have gotten a Billy Joel/Elton John Knockout as a result

On the studio, Hannah ate Alexa alive in my opinion. Who knows if it would have been the same had they actually battled though.

I actually listened to the studio and thought Hannah deserved the win, fair and square. But yeah Alicia definitely planned to use her steal, I don't know exactly when they knew about Hannah's withdrawal.

If CammWess didn't pick John in the KO steals, Thunderstorm would've been eliminated.

 

I believe the order was:

Toneisha vs Cedrice (Kelly used her steal)

Megan vs. CammWess (John and Nick uses their steals, Camm picks Nick in this scenario)

Zan vs. Joana (Blake still uses his steal here)

Mandi vs. Thunderstorm (John can't use his steal on his own teammate so Thunderstorm would be eliminated. The next battle I think was Levi vs. Joei and I'm 100% sure he would've stolen Levi if not then Taylor)

 

If John stole Levi, would he win a PV against Mike/Zan/Mandi. VERY POSSIBLE!

 

He would've probably placed 3rd

If Gihanna is in the wildcard:

I thought they were pretty even—both of them had some really impressive runs/notes, although it took a while for me to figure out who was doing which run when they were doing the whole relay race in the middle.

I agree with this as well. I think that bigger vocals tend to have an advantage over more subtle ones in Instant Saves. Gihanna's IS wasn't as big as some of her other performances, but it probably pops out more than Ryleigh's IS, which was stunning and emotionally connected, but didn't have any huge notes. 

 

Good thing this didn't happen though b/c I would have struggled to pick b/w Ryleigh and Gihanna!

He wins the 4-way KO in a landslide

Ryan wins the PV for the Semifinal as well. Ian vs. DeSz vs. Tamara vs. Cami vs. Ben in this scenario. Realistically, I think Ian would win but DeSz might take it with a ballad + pimp spot.

 

Finale Results

1st - Carter

2nd - Jim/Ryan

3rd - Jim/Ryan

4th - Ian OR Desz (same placement regardless)

5th - John Holiday

 

DeSz wouldn't have made the finale if Ryan Gallagher wasn't DQ'd

What if Kelly turned for Cam Anthony and Blake wasn't blocked for Kenzie?

According to one of his lives (I think..?), Kelly was his 2nd Choice and would've probably made a good enough pitch for him. Kelly's top 3 in Semis: Cam, Gihanna Corey. Cam would easily win the PV, but how would he place against Blake's Kenzie? And Kenzie 100% would've picked Blake if he had all 4 options.

 

I think Cam picking Blake made a huge factor on him winning the season. But a male country dude on Team Blake is also more dangerous than a male RNB soul singer on Team Kelly. So my guess is that Kenzie might've won with Blake, he'd also pick better songs than Kelly did for him.

What if Cody Ray Raymond did not withdraw from the competition?

 

I’m thinking he would have probably made playoffs on Team Kelly (assuming Kymberli vs Zaxai and Cody vs Natasia were the pairs). Maybe Zaxai would have gotten stolen back by Jennifer instead of Colton. Top 12 would have likely stayed put

This one is one I keep coming back to lol. Cammwess' decision literally shaped the rest of the season. Had he chosen Nick, Nick's playoffs team would've been Cammwess,Allegra, Arei, Michael and Roderick. Would Allegra get PV over Cammwess in this case? I think so, but I'm not so sure.

 

In the case of John's team, Thunderstorm would indeed have been eliminated, and he'd be left with Zan, Mike and Mandi, with Levi as his steal (John's reaction to his knockout says it all lol). Levi would've gotten PV and advanced to finale likely.

 

Assuming Allegra got the PV from team nick over Camm (just to shake things up, even though I do think this would've happened tbh) then the finale would be looking like this:

 

Nick: Allegra

Kelly: Micah

John: Levi

Blake: Todd and Toneisha

 

I'd bet on 5th: Micah, 4th: Levi/Allegra (leaning towards Allegra), 3rd: Levi/Allegra (leaning towards Levi) and the top 2 would stay the same.

Loving this (mainly only b/c of Allegra), but while we're at it, let's have Tayler win against Micah so either she or Megan could be Kelly's rep in the finale!

My suggestion is: what would happen if the winners and losers of the battles with saves were switched? Would the new winners defeat their battle opponent's knockout opponents? Who would win of the new battle saves in the 4WKO? For the sake of this, I recommend just keeping the pairings the same, instead of switching them around.

 

I'll do Season 18 and do the others later 'cause I'm tired . The decisions I'm unsure on are the Team John PV (could go to Mike... or even Zan?! maybe even Samantha honestly idk) and the 4WKO (could go to  Allegra). I also don't know if John would have stolen Samantha but it makes my life easier since it's plausible and I wouldn't have to mess w/ other pairings .

 

Season 18:

Team Nick: Michael vs. Jacob

Team John: Mike vs. Nelson

Team Kelly: CammWess vs. Samantha [Stolen by JOHN b/c he wants a country artist ]

Team Blake: Levi vs. Todd

4WKO: Allegra vs. Darious vs. Joei vs. Megan [This would be stacked, but I give it to Megan b/c she had a great performance & has the Country Advantage]

Reading this makes me glad CammWess picked John (mainly because I like Thunderstorm miles better than Levi).
