Artists you liked only in the Blinds

Every season, there are a few contestants who give great blinds but their later performances are disappointing. There have been contestants who had runs I did not enjoy but couldn’t list under weakest 4 chair turns because I liked their auditions

You can phrase this as what contestants did you like their blinds but nothing else (Including Knockouts) or in a positive light, such as contestants you didn’t enjoy but you enjoyed their blind

And you don’t have to limit this to 4 chair auditions. If there was a 3 chair or 2 chair audition you liked but you didn’t like any of their later performances, feel free to list.

S20- Jose Figueroa Jr is the closest (most artists improved)

S19- Kelsie Watts, maybe Tanner Gomes

S18- Mike Jerel

S17- Shane Q

S16- Celia Babini, Selkii

S15- Katrina Cain

S14- Justin Kilgore, Terrence Cunningham

S13- Ashland Craft, Anthony Alexander

Celia Babini is definitely a good example. I don't agree with people saying Jej bscause his battle was great as well.

That’s why I didn’t list him (and also TMH)

In Celia’s battle, I preferred Karly

Surprised people are mentioning Jej, if this thread was artists you liked only in prelives then I would agree. But um, did everyone forget his battle with Beth or did I misunderstand the thread?

This thread is harder than I thought it would be though. Only names that come to mind so far are Mike Jerel, Celia Babini

and Kelsie Watts (this might not be the case if her battle wasn't montaged)

Usually i know when I will like a contestant or not during their blind.

I actually liked Shane Q's battle over his blind, and Terrence was good in his battle and knockout.

I think pretty much, from the contestants which i enjoyed their blinds i have always liked at the very least another performance from them. So, probably the closest to fitting the description would be Bria Kelly, i still liked "Wild Horses" but everything else was a freaking dissapointment.

Also, i would include Pryor Baird (Can't believe he went from the country route during the show after singing a blues song in the blinds, it was really dissapointing for me,)

majority of her song choices weren't just it 💀 I was expecting her to be some kind of one of my favorites that season, but yeah

I put 99.5% of the blame Usher for that one, but tbf if a coach bribed me with Grammys I’d probably pick them too 💀

Troy Ramey was the first that came to mind for me - I actually dug his audition, but his battle got montaged (and I haven’t been able to find the full version since the official channel took it down) and he kinda lost me after his KO.

Nah, you can't put all that blame on a coach for their contestants doing a mediocre job. She was very unexperienced and clearly wasn't capable of handle the pressure of the show. That's it.

Also, why we still act like the coaches are the ones picking the songs when TPTB clearly picks like 80% of them?? Just saying

Fair enough, that 99.5% was an exaggeration anyway

And as for that second point, it’s a poorly kept secret the coaches don’t do much for song selection (if anything) but since the production team makes a big deal of acting like the coaches are more involved than they are, I’ll roll with it since at the end of the day it’s mostly on the contestants not to tank their performances (though some songs make that harder than others).

Not that he was a huge favorite of mine but yeah, Mike Jerel.

He had my favorite audition besides Thunderstorm that season and seemed like he would be one of my favorites, but I thought he deserved to lose his Knockout
