Alive was performed during the Showstoppers (Top 57).  The next day, after the Showstoppers performances, the judges choose who would be part of the "Top 24" (or the top 26 depending on whether they feel the season is super talented).

That’s what I suspected, but like I said, I don’t know how that show works. Thanks for clearing it up. Looks like from her IG activities over the past day that she very likely made it.

The Hawaii round is usually pretty stress free as only a couple people go home. But the one after that is pretty brutal but if she can make it through that then she should have a good run.

That would be a good one for her. Now, compare that to her cover of another Adele song about 10 months later. Her control has gotten a lot better. She has a tendency to squeak at the end of some words, but I don’t hear very much on this one. I don’t even know if “squeak” right word for it, but it’s something I’ve always noticed. It’s probably something she has worked on. Eventually, she won’t do that at all.

Those are vocal "breaks" I think, a bunch of singers do them usually for intent purposes so maybe shes smoothed that out

Yeah, that’s probably a better term for it, and she has definitely smoothed it out.
 

It’s hard to wrap my brain around the fact that it’s been more than 2 years since she was on The Voice, yet she just turned 16 a few months ago.

I gotta make more time to be on here, but I promise I will be ready to post Hailey's videos when the time comes on Idol. So excited for her! 

 

Her songs from what we know so far are in her wheelhouse, which is what we like to see cause we know she will slay them, my only concerns are the themes that Idol loves to give their singers which is cringe imo. Especially in the Semis and Finale where those are probably the most important rounds(at least The Voice's TPTB aren't like that)

Still one of my favorite IS performances and overall performances on stage. I'd say use this song again and gain heavy momentum lmao.

 

The underdog aspect will help, people will be rooting for her despite possible song choices being too modern/unappealing for them.
