I’m fascinated by TikTok, and the platform has been influential as a springboard for many in the music industry, including some Voice alums. Post whatever you want here, as long as it relates to TikTok and past or current Voice contestants. If a past contestant has a viral video, let us know here!

I’ll start it off with a ranking of winners’ followings.

It’s not necessarily in order. That would be too much work, going forward. If you know of any with followings over 100K, post the link, and I’ll add it to the list.

I’m not sure why the formatting is such a disaster on this site, but it is what it is.

But, that's 8 more than Jordan Smith or Chloe MK

Exactly! I can’t understand why someone in the music industry would not have a TikTok account right now. There are a few that don’t have a lot of followers yet, that are at least making an attempt.

That’s pretty strong. Sometime in the near future, I’ll compile a list of non-winners for the OP that can be added to.

Just glanced at a couple.

Melanie Martinez 2.3 million

Morgan Wallen 2 million

I met Chloe once at a small show in a record store super sweet girl but she told me she had like crippling insecurities and was so nervous to perform in front of us. There was like 50 of us there give or take. Here's a tweet describing her lack of social media.

That’s interesting, because she posts stuff on her Instagram story almost every day, and just yesterday, posted a bunch of pictures in a bikini. She also goes through stretches where she tweets a lot. So, I’m not sure I’m buying this as a reason to not have a TikTok account.

Not a winner (sigh) but Lauren Duski has used Tiktok pretty well and has 342,200 followers. She also has a few videos with over a million views

It seems that the younger winners are the ones with more followers, and use the platforms more. Some of the older singers probably don’t use it as much (and some don’t even have an account)

In terms of followers

Avery Wilson has 326.1K followers, which makes sense because he is well known on social media

We Ani has 278.5K followers

Makenzie Thomas has 1.6M followers

Yes, and she’s used that following effectively too. Her strategy is to post a shit load of videos. Most videos don’t get a ton of views. All they need is one hit every now and then. Posting a lot is the key. I’ll bet some post a few videos and give up too quickly, when they don’t take off.

Andrew Jannakos has 798.9 k followers. He essentially got signed to a major label on the strength of his song going viral AND (unlike a bunch of other TikTokers) having that lead to amazing sales.

Melanie Martinez has 2.3 m followers, but her biggest TikTok success hasn’t come from her own videos. Someone randomly used her song Playdate in video that achieved meme status. It resurrected a 5 year old deluxe album cut, enough to get the album it was on to chart again.

I’ll prepare a list to add to the OP later of non-winners, but I’m going to have to have a cutoff of 100K followers. or something like that, or the list will be too long. It will be interesting to keep an eye on some of these. TikTok is still very new to most of these contestants. The two winners at the top of the list only had a few thousand followers at the beginning of the year. We could see a lot of growth from some unexpected contestants.

That’s a great point, because the number of followers doesn’t mean shit if they can’t figure out a way to monetize it.

Not a fan of his music but props to him. He had zero original material prior to the show and got eliminated early. Now he´s doing very well for himself.

Kameron Marlowe used Tiktok to promote his debut single Giving You Up before he was signed, and it got some traction there. He now has 68k followers and the sound for his single Giving You Up has 16k Tiktok streams. He's doing much better on Spotify, but I do hope he starts promoting more on Tiktok too.

Besides that, I didn't really expect any of my snowflakes to be in Tiktok, so imagine my surprise when I saw Todd Tilghman posting covers there more often in the past couple of weeks. He has doubled his Tiktok following since, so hopefully he'll keep making more videos.

Holy sh-t is this real ? Good for her 👏

I know about her TikTok because one of my friends who is a musician created a TikTok duet and she was one of the first duet participants to come up (a few other alums also did this duet)

The way I see it, TikTok is a great way to reach people who have never heard of you. They also probably don’t care that you were on The Voice. So, once you get a follower, you need to continue to keep their interest, or they will quit viewing your videos, even though they still technically follow you.  In that regard, the quality of every post matters. Don’t follow up a popular post with some shit that nobody wants to watch, or that new follower might decide not to watch the next one. I think this is true of other platforms, as well, but especially on TikTok.

Didn´t Foushee have success on TikTok too? She was eliminated in a battle montage, but she´s now more known that her opponent.
