That 4 was harsh for that Rumba lol.

It's Craig though.... so to be expected.

Sara & Aljaz are like the most inconsistent couple ever LMAO. They have really high highs and then really low lows lol.

Oooh gosh yeah I know. :haha: They have their highs with ballroom and lows with the Latin.  It does make their journey fascinating to watch though.

If John’s Charleston doesn’t get 40 then I’ll be stunned. The synchronicity and dancing was incredible.

Could be too soon for a 40, knowing Craig. But I am looking forward to this dance. 😮

It was 100% deserving of a 40 but Craig and Motsi ruined it.

Overall Leaderboard
1. John and Johannes: 38
2. Rose and Giovanni: 37
3. Tilly and Niktia: 36
4. AJ and Kai: 35
5. Tom and Amy: 34

6. Rhys and Nancy: 32
7. Adam and Katya: 29
8. Dan and Nadiya: 28
9. Sara and Aljaz: 25
10. Ugo and Oti: 20

No ties on the leaderboard. 😮

I think it's looking clear that Ugo & Oti could likely go this week. I think that's maybe for the best as he not only scored the lowest this week, but I worry if he continues to have back issues flair up whenever he does the faster dances. I think it's a good way for him to go out and rest his back.

Then I think it's a toss-up between Sara, Rhys and Dan for the other spot in the Bottom 2. Thinking Dan is probably popular enough to make it through one more week. Rhys is in a very risky spot, and definitely worried if he can escape the Bottom 2. And not sure how strong Sara's fanbase is - thinking not as strong as Adam's or Dan's but maybe stronger than Rhys'? But I think a mix of Ugo/Sara/Rhys are most in danger.

I thought the top 5 all did great tonight! John probably had my favorite routine but I really loved all the others too.

I'm leaning towards Ugo/Rhys in the dance-off. Ugo will definitely be there I think and will be going, I think Rhys could just get lost in the shuffle as mid-leaderboard and with one of the lesser fanbases. I think Sara could be in danger too although I do wonder if her journey this series so far might have made her a bit more of a fan favorite.

I feel like that’s on brand with Aljaž.  Despite being a Ten Dance specialist (he’s trained and competed in both Latin and Standard unlike many of the pros who are purely Latin specialists) majority of his partners tend to do better in Ballroom than in Latin.  Abbey, Helen, Daisy, Kate and Emma were all pretty strong in Ballroom but most of their Latin dances were quite lackluster, same with Sara.

Oooh yes I do completely agree with you on this.

His ballroom routines/choreography are really top notch and up there as one of the very best via the pros. His ballroom choreo is my favorite of the male pros (with Gio up there). His Latin is sadly amongst the weakest though - which does show with his partners dances. Although I think Abbey, Helen and Daisy proved to be capable at both, though still stronger in ballroom. Although Alison was his one exception who was stronger in Latin rather than ballroom.

My Week 5 Thoughts!

Dan & Nadiya - Viennese Waltz: Aww it's sweet Dan is dancing this for his wife as it's her favorite song, and aww so sweet how his wife and kids came to visit him at training. I was looking forward to seeing Dan do the VW and have his redemption in ballroom after his Foxtrot, and I think he accomplished that here. This was a very nice and sweet dance. I thought he led and partnered Nadiya well. He had some elegance and grace and moved well and he provided a good frame. But he did also have a few unsure moments, where his confidence wasn't all the way there in hold. He also could have had some more swing and sway   flow in how he moved across the floor. He kinda had a little stiffness there and lacked a little bit of flow. Besides that, this was enjoyable and certainly his best dance yet. Nadiya was gorgeous in this as well. My score: 27.

Adam & Katya - Samba: Aww it was sweet how Adam's nan/grandma was there to see his rehearsals. Adam has had a lot of difficult styles these last few weeks. Lol quite an interesting opening solo here. :haha: But he had fun with it, haha. Hmm this was an interesting dance. Adam reallly was selling it and had a blast performing this. He is really coming into his own as a performer. He had good hip action in there and he did well with all of the gyrating and all of that. He had a lot of solo content in there. I thought his Samba was kinda inconsistent. He had some good moments but some awkward/weird moments in there. I guess he lacked some fluidity at times. I do feel like he takes these really big exaggerated steps that sometimes can work and sometimes don't.... so I don't know where I stand there. But I did enjoy it and thought it was a very fun dance. LOL his channeling Aljaz on the promenade runs was hilarious. My score: 28.

Sara & Aljaz - Rumba: I love these intros where they breakdown certain content moves of the style they are dancing. Oooh I don't think I ever saw a Rumba to "You're Still the One." Love this song for this style, so I appreciate that. Ooh and nice to know that this is Sara's favorite song too. As for this dance, I thought it was okay. Sara gave a good effort but didn't seem completely comfortable with it. I felt this dance kinda lacked flow and the continous motion that works and sells the Rumba. It was kinda stop and go. It did seem on the nice, safe side and yeah I can see how Craig said it lacked that passion. The 4 from Craig was harsh but do think the 7s were a bit high so I think the overall score was fair. Sara did look beautiful with the long hair there. My score: 24/25.

Tom & Amy - Salsa: Omgg that sequence of bad lifts they showed of Tom failing on. Poor Tom there. :haha: I was curious and worried how Tom would do with a Salsa as I don't really see him as a party Latin guy but he quite surprised me here. I thought he performed this well and had a lot of great energy throughout. He was having a blast and so much fun. He partnered Amy well and did well executing the lifts. Although there was one lift, you could tell the lift was coming and it didn't look effortless - but other lifts looked more effortless. He could have had some more hip action and more groundedness throughout as well. I think the routine was so jam packed, that he couldn't flow as much. But still, I thought he was fun and danced well. I did really love that partnered cartwheel flip move he did. which was really cool. A really fun dance, and yeah his best dance. My score: 33.

Tilly & Nikita - Foxtrot: Oooh so "Little Things" is Tilly's favorite song. So is everyone dancing to their favorite song this week? :dead: Crazy how this is Tilly's first ballroom dance since Week 1, but wow this is such a huge improvement from her Waltz. I thought this was such a pretty, gentle dance and Tilly executed it very well. She had a great frame, good head positioning and her footwork was smooth and elegant. She was very graceful and danced it beautifully.  I'm kinda surprised with her big improvement in ballroom but think this was her best dance. My score: 35.

AJ & Kai - Argentine Tango: Aww it's sad seeing how hard AJ was on herself with her Samba last week. :( But ooo love how AJ & Kai were looking over past ATs such as Karim's, Alexandra's & Debbie's. What a comeback dance from AJ and she returns to form with this dance. AJ brought a lot of passionate chemistry with Kai here. They had a lot of great partnering work and all of that organic intimacy needed for the AT. I thought she had great footwork and danced well with the slower parts as well as the faster intricate parts. I especially loved that section where they had identical fast footwork going on and then AJ did her own fast footwork! :omg: She used her legs really well, with not only the dancing but in the lifts - which were really impressive lifts. But she showcased such stunning lines. Such a gorgeous dance. Craig & Motsi ain't right with those 8's, especially with Motsi's comments. My score: 36.

Ugo & Oti - Rumba: Glad to have Ugo back in the competition! Lol Ugo's comment on his ears loving the recovery as much as his back did. Lol love how Ugo calls this song a classic when it only came out this year. :giggle: Ooh Ugo did comment on how he was advised to do a slower dance to take it easy on his back, which makes total sense as to why he got the Rumba. Ooof this is one of those dances where it's hard to not watch Oti and to watch the celeb, because Oti was amazing, breathtaking  and stunning in this! :omg: If I just watched/judge her, I would love this. Sadly, the Rumba wasn't really Ugo's dance. He did partner and showcase Oti well. And they did have good chemistry. But dancing-wise, I felt... he was (understandably) cautious and didn't really do much here. His hip action was nonexistent and he wasn't as slick and smooth he needed to be for the style. :( I can get the heavy footed comments. I also felt he could have flowed more with his arms. Sadly I can't complain or disagree on the scores. My score: 20.

John & Johannes - Charleston: It was fun how they showed those classic old days videos of the Charleston. I'm happy to see this fun, joyous and silly side of John for this Charleston. This was a really fantastic and entertaining dance here. John danced this really well and with such an effortless energy and style to him. He matched Johannes side by side dancing and energy really well. I loved the mixture of faster and slower moments they danced here. They had some great partnering and even great side by side synchronized dancing. John had great swivels in his footwork. They had lots of fun and entertaining tricks, like those cartwheels they did together. My only complaint was that the song kinda annoyed me as the dance went on but it had nothing to do with John's dancing, as he delivered another amazing dance. OMG what the heck at John's friend Shirley shouting "I wet" in her message to him? :dead:  My score: 38.

Rose & Giovanni - Viennese Waltz: I liked how Giovanni was explaining this dance in their VT, and LOL Rose clapping at the part where she leaves him at the end. :haha: It's great how Rose got to showcase her acting chops in this dance, especially with the sign language. This felt like something from a movie. And actually it reminded me of Gio's VW with Faye, with how this was a dramatic intense styled VW. Rose is really stunning when she dances ballroom. She provides such a great frame, great technique, elegant movement and footwork. Her dancing with Gio just flowed and was so effortless. Such a beautiful dance from Rose. My score: 36/37.

Rhys & Nancy - American Smooth: lol This bit of discovering "Elegant Rhys." Definitely curious how Rhys will tackle the AS as he hasn't done a ballroom dance since Week 1. The pilots theme was really interesting. This was a very cute and fun routine. I thought Rhys did well with this. He was good in hold - he had a good frame, and good footwork. He was composed and smooth. But he did also have moments of not really looking comfortable or selling it well in hold. He did shine and excel more on the side by side solo parts. I lovede that side by side section they did in the middle where he was so full of life. The lifts were good and fun here too. My score: 32.

Rankings:

1. John & Johannes - Charleston

2. Rose & Giovanni - Viennese Waltz

3. AJ & Kai - Argentine Tango

4. Tilly & Nikita - Foxtrot

5. Tom & Amy - Salsa

6. Rhys & Nancy - American Smooth

7. Adam & Katya - Samba

8. Dan & Nadiya - Viennese Waltz

9. Sara & Aljaz - Rumba

10. Ugo & Oti - Rumba

A much stronger show this week compared to last week. Loved my Top 4, really liked 5-6, liked 7-8.

Some thoughts on the Week 5 Results!

- The 60s Rock & Roll Mall theme group dance was really cute and fun. It was cute and fun how often Amy and Oti's dresses changed.

- Rhys & Nancy were the first couple announced in the Bottom 2. I'm sadly not too surprised about this as I always feared about their lack of fanbase compared to the others, but I thought the show would have made it even more dramatic of naming them as the second couple in danger. I feel so bad for Rhys as he really shouldn't be there at all. Oooh weird how he said he feels he deserves to be there a bit. But also sad. He was clearly heartbroken and sad about this. :(

- Cool performance from Craig David & MNEK. I randomly remember MNEK performing last year. I really liked the song, and parts of it sounds familiar with its sample but can't think of what. Fun Hip-Hop/Street pro dance from Dianne & Neil.

- Ugo & Oti were the second couple in the Bottom 2. This was a much more expected prediction. As sad as I am for them, it was a fair call.

- Ugo & Oti vs. Rhys & Nancy in the Dance Off. I do think Ugo improved a bit more on this dance, but Rhys' dance was still much better. Rhys got all of the judges votes to stay, which was deserved. I do fear for Rhys' longevity in the competition, and not really sure how long he will last. I do hope he can outlast the weaker dancers remaining though. While I do agree with the result, I'm sad to see Ugo & Oti go. I thought they were such a fun and hilarious partnership, and I loved how their personalities went along with each other. I maybe enjoyed their personalities/VTs more than their dances. :giggle: Although I did really like their Couples' Choice dance. I'm glad Ugo was able to come back in the competition and leave on a good note and proper farewell on the show rather than his journey cut short via withdrawal.

- Week 6 Halloween Night spoilers

- Tom & Amy will be dancing to "Highway to Hell," which he said his kids chose as a song for him to dance to?

:dead: Soo this should mean he has the Paso Doble (though it wasn't confirmed).

- AJ & Kai will dance the Viennese Waltz.

- Rose & Giovanni will dance the Tango. They also mentioned how Giovanni always tops the leaderboard on Halloween night. So I could see it happening with this dance.

- Adam & Katya will return to ballroom, though the style wasn't confirmed.

- Sara & Aljaz will have a Couple's Choice dance, which is also Aljaz's first ever Couple's Choice dance.

Ugo. 🥰

I loved him and his partnership with Oti. Watching them together was magical and I’m so glad they’ve formed such an incredible thing genuine friendship. I think he’s the hottest male celeb I’ve ever seen on SCD so the rest of the season is going to be boring.

I'll miss Oti.

It's going to be weird not having Oti on the show, as she was on the full seasons the last two seasons. 😮

Judi posted an update on how she's doing on her Instagram.

She doesn't sound like she's doing to well, as she lost her senses of taste and smell. :( But she's taking all the precautions to get better. I'm worried of her chances of coming back. Wishing her all the best and speedy recovery. ❤️

Oh poor Judi. :( Hope she is feeling better soon, but definitely would be nervous about her place in the competition since she would be behind on training time too. Obviously that’s not the main priority and her health comes first though. ❤️ But such a shame to maybe see anyone leave in such circumstances!
