I have always loved and adored the "After Party" routine from Amy & Fik-Shun! This is such a fun and joyous routine that always makes me smile whenever I watch this. Yeah NappyTabs can be extra with their concepts but I think this concept works and doesn't overshadow the choreo. The routine is just Amy and Fik-Shun having a good time! :bobo:Fik-Shun fits in so naturally and is truly in his element with this routine. Amy shocked the heck out of me here. She was a lot of fun, had the groove and swag well done enough to sell this dance with Fik-Shun. There are so many fun parts in this routine - one of those parts being at 1:02 where Fik-Shun does those getting down to the ground moves? This is just one of the funest dances of the season! :bobo:

I watched this routine soooo many times back in the day and it was always so much fun!! They weren't the most mature dancers back then but this routine turned that into a strength imo.

Really cute. Everyone here played it smart. The characterizations and cheekiness is what Amy needed to be able to sell this (as opposed to super sexy or super serious) and Fik-Shun is the perfect partner to execute that while still maintaining integrity as a true hip-hop dancer.

Unlike last season's George/Tiffany hip-hop with a dumb concept, this one works much better. Probably because the staging doesn't look like it came from an episode of Rugrats. Anyway, this works. Because it's good choreography with infectious performers. Fik-Shun looks so breezy doing this. It's easy for him. With Amy it's clear to see how badly this could have been if her partner were say...Alan? but you can tell how she matches Fik-Shun's energy and performance even if she doesn't match up to his technique at times.

It is a good routine where Fik-Shun showed what he was capable of and Amy managed to do good given the cirumstances. I like it but it was only the 5th best hip-hop of the season

I've always really liked this routine. Probably partially because I've always been a bigger Tucker fan than most. Once you realize that this show isn't about merit or being the best dancer and the best dances all come from dancers largely dancing in their styles, you are just allowed to let everything else go and just enjoy routines and dancers. Anyway, this routine is just lovely. Robert and Tucker both really convey the emotion. It's mature. It's a lot of what I like best about contemporary dances in this show.

Not me sobbing before the dance ever starts. Miss you Danny.

I don't care for Tucker but this was actually pretty great. Travis perfectly choreographed this routine and Robert did a marvellous job. It is always nice to see a male/male contemporary routine

It's kinda insane how Tucker had a really underwhelming run for most of his run.... and then "Medicine" happened. This was a really stunning, moving and emotional dance that really showcased Tucker in the best light of a dancer/performer possible. This dance had a really emotional backstory to it. Tucker sold it well and beautifully with his dancing and performing.  And also with stuff Robert has been through, made it even more emotional. They had a great support for each other and they danced this with lovely technique, lines and overall dancing. They match each other so well, especially on the side by side moves they do. The storytelling is so moving here.

The greatest Argentine Tango I have ever seen. I could quite easily have this as my favourite dance ever.

Aw I do feel bad that Curtis (right?) was too sick or injured that he couldn't partake in dancing this routine. Though if he did, there's NO way this would have been as good as the version with Leonardo Barrionuevo. :ph34rwave: Which is super obvious as Leonardo is a professional and choreographer of this routine. He really showcased and highlighted Hayley beautifully. She rose to the occassion by really stepping up and slaying this routine! This Argentine Tango was a breakthrough moment for me in Hayley's run and the dance that really made her stand out to me. She danced this so beautifully and in such a crisp way. Her footwork and leg work was sharp, divine and lovely. They were oozing lots of stunning chemistry here throguhout the dance. And not to mention, I loved all of the intricate footwork she did here and then he did all around the last 30 seconds or so of the dance!  SO incredible. :omg:

I, unlike the majority, don't care if Hayley lucked out with getting Leonardo for her tango. What they did was amazing!!! and if we go by this logic, then we should have not crowned Hip Hip Chin Chin or What I Like About You cause those routines without Lacey and Benji would have not been the same 🤷‍♂️

i remember this routine SHOCKING everyone with how good it was. and it was! but it would not have been anywhere near as good without leonardo lol

I am absolutely NEVER forgiving this show for letting Hayley dance with Leonardo when Curtis was injured but making Jenna dance with Alex Wong when Tucker was injured. I am ranking this like 6 spots lower than it should be for that reason alone! Of course this is good! Leonardo Barrionuevo is dancing it!!!!!

Such an interesting preview to her true career after this show. Even here her technique is super impressive and she really is a great partner and captures the stillness. I think she’s still a bit immature here with her emotional/facial performance and there’s fluidity missing. Caitlynn Season 8 is still the best non-ballroom ballroom contestant for me (judging their time on this show only). BUT this is still very impressive. And overall Leonardo totally sells this, iconic.

A great routine. I don't know that it sticks with me like the other routines. But I also don't know that I want to rank it lower than their hip-hop. Because I think that this is choreographed and danced better.

Amy & Fik-Shun started off with a big bang and as such a big power couple with this routine! This is such a dark, twisted, haunting and stunning dance. I love the connection and intensity that Amy & Fik-Shun has here. But wowzers, Amy showcases some really lovely lines and technique here. Fik-Shun does a great job in supporting Amy but also showcases some cool tricks and lifts here. This is just soo good!

Interesting that this couple and Aaron/Jasmine all got Sonya week 1 (and NappyTabs week 2 oop). Sonya is really a special artist. She manages to hit all the same emotional and movement levels to really sell a dance while using music and movement that is totally unique. The moment when Amy gets dropped backwards over Fik-Shun’s head gets me every time.

Rei

Quote

This was Amy and Fik-Shun's best routine as a couple. A very very good contemporary. Sonya did evertytime for me!

Kriti

I just rewatched this and bumped it up five spots... it's probably Sonya's choreography and music that truly carries it but it's still very very good!

If LACEY or BENJI were the CHOREOGRAPHER than it would be the same logic!!!!!! If Hayley performed this with ALAN or say PASHA it would be different! It's also that literally in the same circumstances Jenna didn't dance with Jean-Marc she danced with ALEX WONG.

well there are three routines left to reveal where the contestants danced with their choreographers so..........

I think it all comes down whether the dancer is a people's favourite or not, cause the same exact routine danced by Jenna and Leonardo for instance, would have an automatic #1 for most people

lol that's not the same and you know it!

This competition is inherently unfair, so I don't know why I'm still mad but I think it's also because we get so few opportunities to see ballroom dancers paired with ballroom dancers and when the opportunity presented itself we get instead "oh well the routine was choreographed for Tucker so Alex Wong who never got to do his ballroom routine in season 7 will step in." We could have had Pasha/Melanie LaPatin pt. 2!!!!!!!
