.Rei Posted July 16, 2024 Author Posted July 16, 2024 US10 RESULTS PART TWO 16. Hayley Erbert & Nico Greetham - "Kiss Of The Spider Woman" - (Broadway by Sean Cheesman) Watched Here RANKINGS: @Zoey - 3 @*Wallace - 8 @Erestor - 8 @FrogLenzen - 12 @taylorkat - 17 @.Rei - 18 @totes4totes - 18 @kritaaay - 20 Avg. Score = 13.00 COMMENTS Wallace Quote This was one of my favorite routines I was worried that wouldn't make it to the Final 20 but I'm so glad it did. Hayley was still continuing to stand out and shine in the competition with this dance. She helped Nico bring out his best dance too - so Nico should thank Hayley for that. But yeah I love how dynamic and intense this routine is. Hayley plays that dominate evil fortune teller and she sells that role so well. Also that move where Nico grabs Hayley's leg, flips her over and she rolls around on the ground was so good! But yeah this dance is just so exciting, fun and entertaining to watch! Derek Quote I love it when an international carryover routine is actually successful lol. Sean tried his Veins piece earlier in the season and it was insane how much magic was lost. But here this reprise of the Danielle/Sebastian piece actually works really well. Gun to my head I think I still prefer the Canadian version just because I like Idina and Danielle so much haha but I don’t have anything negative to say about this one either. It’s just one of those ones that has me clapping at the laptop alone in my room lol. Tbf to Nico, Sebastian didn’t have all this partner work in his and could have never done all that. Nico should have been partnered with Jenna. Rei Quote This is exactly the type of routines that I don't like. Filled with trick after trick, lack of transitions and soulless. Very reminiscent of Tiffany/Brandon disco. This is not last just because they danced it well. Megan Quote I'd say throw in my usual "Broadway on SYTYCD" spiel but you KNOW I cannot resist talking about how bad Broadway is on this show. And I could also use this opportunity to specifically think about how Broadway itself homogenizes and makes bland what should be a sharp political and social commentary. Anyway, this is a number from Chita Rivera essentially delivering it solo in a web where she is about to deliver the literal kiss of death. It's an emotional climax. From a show with a good number of routines with actual choreography and dancing, Sean Cheesman chose like the one song where Chita Rivera is literally in a web! Anyway, this routine would have been better if with the kiss that was the end and Nico just died there. Kriti Quote meh, this was obviously fun and well-danced, but it was also lesser than the sum of its parts (i.e., the two canadian routines mashed up to make it) and the racial implications are mmmm not great. HOW did this make it. 15. Jenna Johnson & Neil Haskell - "I Can't Make You Love Me" - (Contemporary by Mandy Moore) Watch Here RANKINGS: Derek - 7 Zoey - 7 Gigi - 10 Megan - 11 Patryk - 12 Wallace - 14 Rei - 16 Kriti - 18 Avg. Score = 11.88 COMMENTS Derek Quote UNREAL. Friendly reminder from the SYTYCD Worldwide game that there has never been a contestant more skilled a 2 different styles than Jenna at ballroom and contemporary. This is one of my favorites from Mandy, she is always solid but sometimes it can get generic or cheesy but here with Neil the emotion is just right, the song is amazing, and those lifts are amazing too. Megan Quote Jenna finally gets separated from IDF's least fave Tucker and gets a contemporary and it is like the world was spiting me because she got Tucker and Mandy Moore! Mandy Moore routines are always "imagine this Mandy Moore routine to this song" and you can almost perfectly imagine it in your head. Because they are so rote! Wallace Quote I did consider cutting this on the last cuts round but then I rewatched it and forgot how beautiful it was. I also remember this being my favorite dance from Jenna of the season (and just wow at how much she shone when she wasn't saddled with Tucker). Does it still hold that honor for me? I won't say and will let me rankings show that. Anyway, yeah.... this is really beautiful and stunning. Jenna dances this beautifully and shows off some lovely technique. Neil is great here, as he's always been in his Contemporary all-star dances. He really showcases and partners Jenna so well. The emotion is bone chilling. I'm sad I couldn't put this higher but there are just so many standout dances to me this round. Rei Quote Jenna was outstanding on this, just like everything she does tbh. Sadly the choreography was not that interesting, despite me being a big Mandy fan Kriti Quote It was fine but not one of the more memorable contemporaries from this season... apart from that one time (those two times) Neil has never really excited me as an all-star. 14. Jasmine Harper & Aaron Turner - "Tears Always Win" - (Lyrical Hip-Hop by NappyTabs) Watch Here RANKINGS: Rei - 6 Kriti - 7 Megan - 7 Gigi - 11 Derek - 14 Zoey - 15 Patryk - 16 Wallace - 18 Avg. Score = 11.75 COMMENTS Rei Quote They ate, they slayed, they served!!!!! Kriti Quote I always thought this routine was wildly underrated but then it made it into the top 20 over the giving tree routine so idk anymore. It's still fantastic! Love Jasmine, can't believe all her routines are so high for me. Megan Quote It only took 6+ seasons and a few appearances in Australia, but TabbyNaps finally figured out how to choreography a lyrical hip-hop routine that is more than just a jazz with chest pops. That's how you knew this season was going to actually be good. Anyway, this routine has good choreography, great dancing (because both Jasmine and Aaron have hip-hop in their background) and it's all tied together with great chemistry. This is the sequel to "Misty Blue" I had been waiting for in the US show. Derek Quote Not my favorite Jasmine piece but this was very necessary in her trajectory so that NappyTabs could learn how she moves and how to utilize her even better in the coming weeks. It always sends me how the costume department is totally lost as soon as any woman comes in with an actual bust lol. Wallace Quote Jasmine & Aaron always shone in their hip-hop numbers...and I think these were my favorite dances from them. So I got no issue with their hip-hops making it here. This is one of those dances that I don't consider a favorite of mine but I always appreciate and like it more than I realize whenever I watch it. Jasmine & Aaron have good romantic chemistry and sell this routine so well. They kill it with the dancing, but Jasmine is especially impressive. It's hard to keep your eyes off of her. But Aaron does his thing and does well here too. 13. Hayley Erbert, Carlos Garland & Malece Miller - "Stay" - (Contemporary by Mia Michaels) Watch Here RANKINGS: Kriti - 6 Megan - 6 Zoey - 8 Derek - 9 Rei - 9 Gigi - 16 Wallace - 19 Patryk - 20 Avg. Score = 11.63 COMMENTS Kriti Quote we need more weird threesomes on sytycd. also carlos really was so hot in this even as he was being a total $^^@*(!. more showcase routines like this!!! Megan Quote You know I am not a Mia Michaels stan like some others are, but I've always really liked this routine. Probably a bit controversial considering so many Hayley routines made the Top 20 (lol) but this is where I like Hayley the most. Probably because I really like Carlos in this routine. Malece and Hayley are great, but Carlos is what sells this for me. Derek Quote Holy wow this is so amazing. Mia knows how to take a relatively simple idea and execute it at the highest possible level. Song choice totally worked as well. Hayley is perfectly cast in this. THE SLAP. And that moment before the slap. Chef’s kiss. Rei Quote The collapse onto the chairs remains one of the best tricks ever performed in a routine Wallace Quote I don't really remember the showcase routines as much, so I forgot about this dance. I thoughtthis was a beautiful routine. All of Hayley, Carlos and Malecedanced and performed this beautifully. Maybe because she ended up being my favorite but Hayley did standout the most to me here. Carlos' stands out as well.

kritaaay Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 Slay Megan and I having the exact same placements for a bunch of things 1
FrogLenzen Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 I guess I'll take the Jenna/Neil dance in that spot, missed the bottom 5 at least and I wasn't expecting much better than that. Stay could be higher but still happy overall so far. Fingers crossed my heart doesn't get broken about whichever 2 routines are gonna miss the Top 10
