Anybody figure out what happened with Ryan Gallagher?

It was the National Christmas Tree Lighting. That’s not exactly “performing for Trump.”  She also performed at the Democrat Gov. of New Mexico’s inauguration and inaugural ball, as the guest of honor. Make of that what you will. I actually hate Trump, but I’m a conservative. I’ve been following her long enough to know she leans left, but I also can tell she’s careful about how she expresses that, because she knows at least 1/2 of her fanbase will go bye bye

Yeah, assuming someone's political beliefs just based off of a follow or one performance for a politician is a biiiiiig stretch. I used to hate-follow Donald's Twitter (pretty sure I was contributing to the problem but w/e).

I've learned that, especially over the past few years, people will SHOW you their political beliefs rather than outright say it. It's up to you as a fan/viewer/whatever to determine whether or not you can make peace with that person's ideology or whatever being different than yours.

Yep, that’s exactly what I’m talking about. Just like on IDF, I don’t need to ask most people here what their political beliefs are, because it’s obvious.

Yeah, the key word here is “National.” That doesn’t specify a political party.

This is where the always controversial "separate the art from the artist" argument comes along.

It still doesn't matter to me what the artist supports.

Like if Megan is a true Trump supporter, as long as she isn't being an a**hole to anyone who doesn't deserve it, I will still like her vocal abilities. Also she was still robbed of that Finale, just saying.

Yes. I knew about her performing for her Gov. and she's also really good friends with Cam Anthony(He's a total leftie from his posts). Of course, there's also Kelly . That's why I had her as a question mark.

I mean...stood on stage with her Governor as she was being sworn in, and sang “God Bless America.” Then proceeded to perform a set at each of three inaugural balls. I’m pretty sure a Trump supporter wouldn’t do that, or even a Trump hating Republican for that matter.

I try to separate politics from the music of those I follow, but like Someone648 said above, there have been a couple I just had to unfollow, because they don’t stop to take a breath. They weren’t my main snowflakes, but past contestants I followed just out of casual interest.

Yeah, I can mostly separate an artists personal actions (cheating on spouse, non-marijuana drug use etc) and if we disagree on like taxes, or size of government, I can separate that out. But if we disagree on basic human rights, or supporting Democracy, then I'm not going to give you my money. At this point, that's where I'm at with Trump supporters.

There are several aspects regarding certain artists that of course might turn people away from consuming their products. Personally, I myself try to separate the art from the artists, I usually don`t give a crap about their personal life, I only listen to what they have put out, because believe me, I would have had to pretty much stop listening to music if I measure the artists I listen to through my moral compass. Of course, that`s just me, I`m sure there are a lot of people who disagree and some others that do the same.

Of course there are some exceptions that simply can`t be excused for me, but at the end of the day , like I said, it`s up to each individual.

Well, my politics are left-leaning. But getting acquainted with country music over quarantine became my exercise on respecting an artist whose politics differ from my own. Some people wouldn't even touch a conservative artist. I don't mind, as long as there's respect involved and, also, common sense/good judgment.

Having said that, Ryan Gallagher putting everyone in danger during the pic of COVID-19 didn't show either. Considering I listen mostly to Symphonic Metal, a genre in which the singers usually display an operatic style, Ryan was my snowflake last season.

Now, I don't follow him anymore.

His Instagram account is gone, so there wouldn’t be much content even if you did.

What has he even been working on these days? :lmao:

Probably nothing, but he did have this gig back in February. Unmasked Valentines Day concert. LOL!

Yeah it's tough. As someone whose political affiliation is probably mostly leftist, I can handle a right-winger or Republican or I can handle someone who isn't educated enough on the other side's perspective or experience enough to fully understand them (within reason).

But I can't deal with someone repeatedly reposting COVID conspiracies while simultaneously posting *subtly* racist things and blatant homophobia in their story (in 2021 nonetheless lol). Dropped an all-time favorite of mine a while back because I decided I'd had enough of their BS. It's tough when it's your fave that you have to reevaluate, but it's my time (and occasionally money) and I'll choose to use it how I see fit.

Ugh that was such a disappointment. :(

My opinion on the matter is this: as long as you don't shove your ideologies down people's throats, or disrespect others for not agreeing with you, I'll respect your right on your beliefs, no matter how much I disagree with them.

I have a snowflake that's staunchly Republican, but he's been pretty lowkey about it and has yet to do anything problematic because of it, so hoping it stays that way.

What's equally annoying though, is when people judge you for liking artists that are opposed to your beliefs. That's where I have to invoke the "separate the art from the artist" cliche. Liking an artist's music does not equate to liking his/her entire being. People who do this are just as bad as the people who actually take their beliefs to the extreme.

A 100% agree here. I have a number of artists I listen to who I wouldn`t want near me under any circustance, but their music has spoken to me or inspires me in several ways. That`s just how it works, nobody`s perfect. I`m a big fan of Clapton`s music, but the guy was, and still is a total dick. Still, "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" inspired me to pick up guitar.

I can’t be the only one staring at your signature, trying to figure out who got the axe. :P

Maybe that's my plan all along. I did just give my sig a facelift this week. 😇

They were on the show shortly after the 2016 election but before Brynn’s first audition (and that’s all the hint you get).

As for me, I will admit to being left of center on most issues, but separating the art from the artist has to be done sometimes for my own peace of mind. Most that I keep up with are at least quiet about their views or agree with me when they do post, but there’s others who’ve worked with or support causes that I can’t.

Generally, this show has been a really nice break from other communities I’m a part of online (one of which ended up on the national news scandal-wise a few weeks back, but that’s a whole can of worms I refuse to get into for a couple months for my own mental stability), but the artists are human too - they have flaws and aren’t always going to be people I 100% agree with, but the ability to empathize with others and try and understand where they’re coming from is what ultimately makes me more comfortable occasionally setting aside the art from the artist.

As for Ryan specifically, I was never crazy about him but it’s disappointing that having his family experience COVID didn’t result in a wake up call about it being a serious health issue + working in an explicitly unmasked setting well before vaccines were widely available.

I noticed that. I can rule out a few, knowing that Someone648 stanned then too. For example, I know for sure it’s not Barrett.

I have a feeling that it`s a certain someone whose name refers to a person who practices an outdoor sport involving wild animals. Someone648 stanned them too.
