Well it's fine because it looks like just like she mistakenly included everyone born after 1/1/92 but before 6/2/92, you omitted everyone born after 6/2/92 but before 1/1/93. Which on the finalists side is just Katie Stevens and Mackenzie Bourg, but her list also includes semifinalists so I don't know which of the others on her list don't actually belong (I can confidently assure you that Aubrey Cleland and Charlie Askew do, though, since I have them on my list as the 11th and 12 place finishers rather than as mere "semifinalists" due to that silly Wild Card vote-off for an 11th spot on the tour despite them only having a Top 10 for finalists that year).

The reason I didn't bother including semifinalists in my list is because I used WNTS to create my list, and they didn't bother dredging up dates of birth for all the semifinalists for all seasons. Actually I think the seasons they got lazy on, S14 and probably S15, they didn't do it for the finalists either but Wikipedia was able to help me with that. I haven't updated my list since the start of the ABC era but that's only a few years old so there probably aren't too many age-outs. (Though sadly, one of S17's biggest snubs has aged out.)

Idol must be having a hard time finding new contestants.

Why would previous contestants, especially if they went through the public vote, even want to come back and go through the process again?

The goal is to have a career after the show.  Not to go back in time in hopes of reigniting a career.

This will only attract those who have struggled after the show - which is not a good look for Idol.

Sounds messy.

I don't think Arthur's journey this season did its job of convincing former contestants to reaudition. I do think it will be received better if the contestants start from the auditions instead of teleporting middle competition. This could work for semi-irrelevant contestants who might've been too young, inexperienced and didn't make it far on their first season, but have improved a lot since then. However, I don't need someone like Joshua Ledet trying to compete again. Why not just do an all-star season or something.

An All-Star Season would never work.  There is no way anyone who has a successful career would ever want to do.  Then we're stuck with people who have long faded - hardly all stars.

I don't care if it will work or not. The ratings is getting lower and lower and maybe they should try something new. As an basic audience,  I just want to watch an all star season.

Dragging a bunch of contestants back who have long faded is not going to help with ratings.

The problem is that the Idol format is completely out of touch with the current music industry.  Their main demo is older white women from the South.

Idol needs to bring in more diverse viewers - younger, more males, people of color, urban.

And more representation with Rock, R&B, Rap - which is reflective of the music industry.  Not just the standard Pop, Country fluff on Idol.

We just got to make sure that none of them are already signed to record labels because it would make them ineligible if they are signed already.

Several Idol alum auditioned for The Voice and made it to various stages so I don’t think the contestants really care about how it looks for them if it still brings them more exposure at the end of the day.

Mmm-hmm. I don't know about an All-Star season but Idol may be able to get away with a "second chances" type season.

But they were on a different show.  I can see backlash for former Idol alums who had already been voted off by the public, then come back to compete.  The show should be moving forward.

I agree a full All-Star season wouldn't work. But maybe Idol sees a format similar to The Voice Australia that would work here. TV AUS recently has a format where new contestants compete with only a few returning contestants. The few returning contestants have to start from the beginning at auditions so returnees will have to make the cut to get to live shows. Returning contestants on TV AUS, generally do the show again because they were young/inexperienced when they first auditioned, trying to reignite a career that had short-lived success, etc.

No matter what the reason is behind this, I think it's a bad idea to let past finalists who are still eligible to do the show again.

You mean like all the backlash Alyssa received in S17? 🙄

Even in the later Fox years, they allowed semi-finalists to re-audition. Several did, though none of them made it again.

All of the criticism that was thrown towards Arthur’s inclusion was because he:

-was a runner-up competing against a bunch of semi-finalists and a Top 7 finisher for one spot

-got to skip half of the season

-returned after the actual finals had already started

In a twist that wasn’t announced by the show until right before it was happening.

Genuine question… do you even like this show? Every post you make in here is criticizing every minute detail and talking about how much of a failure it is. I don’t spend all of my free time in The Voice forums complaining about that show.

Contrary to IDF’s predictions of doom and doom, I doubt most of the ones that went far will even want to do the show again, tbh. Idol is stressful and most of them got what they wanted from it. There’s even a few Idols who have stopped doing music.

There's really not many I would like to see come back. Now that Jena from S13 is older i would like to see if she is more consistent. I'd like to how Sonika from S 15 would be with more confidence. And I'd like to see Jeremiah  come back-hoping the audience is less conservative and he would make the finals.

The question is how many of these people are actually going to consider trying out for American Idol Season 20.

Very few.  MJsBlog made the point that ABC Idol has always allowed anyone who didn't make the Top 10 to audition again.  But she said very few do.  And those who do rarely make it further.

Regarding Jeana, she's done with Idol.  She didn't even want to appear on the Series Finale at FOX.  And if Sonika still has a contract with Disney, she would not be eligible.
