It would be a really bad look for idol if he wins

MTE. I wouldn't be surprised if they even tweaked the votes if he had the most to ensure someone else won (though I doubt it'll come to that). The comeback challenge was just for appearances, imo. I think the comeback contestant was never supposed to win.

Tweaking votes is illegal. They were well aware of the possibility of him winning when they let him rejoin the competition. Not sure why they would rig the votes to avoid a situation they put upon themselves. If the comeback contestant was never supposed to win, they wouldn't have let a runner-up re-compete. They would've restricted it to the people outside the top 10. They weighed the pros and cons and concluded that Arthur rejoining, and possibly winning, was worth whatever "backlash" would come from it. These shows have survived worse. People would be mad about it for 2 seconds then go about their lives.

The producers cant tweak the votes, but they can tweak the song choices, performance order, and the edit they want to give contestants. If they dint want Arthur to win, they will screw him over with one of those methods at least once.

Also, I agree that if he does win, there will only be backlash for like 2 hours and life will go on lol. If this was 10 years ago it would be different but in 2021 people arent going to waste their time lamenting over someone being robbed for Arthur.

Yeah but my point is they aren't gonna put him back into the competition and then go through the trouble of doing all that when it's a situation they could've avoided all together. That's just stupid lol. Also not sure how they can tweak song choices. One thing I can say about new-idol, or idol in general, is that they seem to let the contestants pick their own songs. This isn't The Voice lol. I think the new voting method makes it that such tactics such as edits etc. don't really work.

Anyway, I don't think he is gonna win. Last season was his for the taking and someone like Just Sam won (a minority female contestant). He was dominating social media and this season they are a few people doing better than him there. In addition, I've seen a lot of "it's not fair he's back" comments so those will probably work against him as well.

I guess I'm too used to The Voice allowing the producers to throw out entire sets of votes then lmao, thanks for letting me know.

No confirmation that they've ever removed votes, but I believe they explicitly have written somewhere that they're allowed to? Either way, in their list of rules, they have mentioned that they can change the rules at any given moment without notifying anyone or updating the list of rules, so they can pretty much do anything they want :haha:

Oh...I'm sure idol has something written like that, but they are not going to put themselves on the line for a situation they created (i.e Arthur possibly winning). I think they were okay with that outcome when they invited him to return.

I don’t think Arthur will win, but there is the possibility he might. Casey, Chayce, Grace, and Willie are his biggest competition it seems. Caleb is not as much competition for Arthur though. I would also say that Arthur is not worried about Hunter either.

Idol has the same disclaimer in their end credits.

If anyone has bothered to actually look it up, it’s basically there to prevent robo-dialers and other similar bots from interfering with the votes. Not so much a big deal nowadays, but back in Idol’s heyday, it was a common worry that such programs would influence the votes.

Unfortunately, I can see the Final 3 ending up Caleb (Country vote), Chayce, Hunter.  That's what Idol voters tend to gravitate towards.

I don't have any confidence that the Southern Housewives will back a young rocker girl like Casey or a great singer like Willie, who isn't floating a heart throb narrative.

Idol hasn't had an all-male F3 since 2009... in a season with (objectively) the weakest female cast, where the last female was a Latina teenager who had been in the bottom three times prior to her elimination.

The southern housewives had no problem backing a young female rocker on The Voice like two or three years ago.
