Saddest Eliminations

Only eliminations that actually made me cry were Kimberly Nichole (S8) and Janice Freeman (S13). Neither one deserved to be eliminated that early, in my opinion (and I still believe that Kimberly should have won Season 8). It was brutal watching Kimberly look like that; she looked so exhausted and miserable.

But Janice's in particular was gut-wrenching. It was like Miley was BEGGING for that beautiful soul to make it another week. I've never seen a coach get that emotional over their contestant. And then when Adam Cunningham won the Instant Save, he didn't even look happy - and Adam Levine (his coach) didn't even clap. He just stared into space. Like even HE knew something tragic had just gone down. And if THAT wasn't bad enough, then the After-the-Elimination YouTube video afterwards DESTROYED me. It is the saddest one ever. Of all time.

Other highlights:

Vanessa Ferguson (S12) made me sad in a shocked sort of way. I KNEW she was AT LEAST going to make it to the Instant Save, where she'd kill it like she did at "For Once in My Life"... and then she didn't make it. Like the ground was torn out from under my feet. I was gutted.

Beth Griffith-Manley (S16) made me sad-angry, only because it felt soul-sucking to watch the coaches rush to use all of their Coach Saves and Steals... only for Beth to be screwed over only because there were no steals/saves left. She killed it. Absolutely demolished a very difficult song. And then went home. Honestly, that whole season felt like it took something out of me. Every elimination felt like a punishment.

Shawn Sounds (S16) was another one. He was one of the best singers I've ever heard on that show... and then they announced that his Instant Save song was going to be "That's What I Like" by Bruno Mars. I legit yelled at the screen before he even started singing. Watching him go out on THAT note... UGH.

And even with that, she still killed her IS performance. Usually in the Instant Save, contestants let their emotions take over them, which results in poor IS performances (I don't blame them, that must be a extremely hard and painful situation). But she was one of the few that despite being very emotional in the IS, still managed to dominate the stage.

No one mentioned the amazing Michael Lee

Still one of the most shocking and saddest elimination ever… He absolutely killed every performance, especially his KO then he got a standing ovation after his PO performance but he got eliminated anyway…

Beth's robbery was tragic. She's one of the only people on the show that I would say gave a 10/10 performance in each round, so I can only imagine how amazing she would've done down the line. The only thing that gives me solace is that Beth took her elimination super gracefully and was really content with her time on the Voice.

Season 13: Noah Mac

Season 14: Wilkes and Reid Umstatstsd (Dang Playoffs)

Season 15: Jake Wells (his blind and battle were amazing)

Season 16: LMAOOO so many. Cecily Hennigan walking away without a steal, Beth Griffith Manley being straight up eliminated, Domenic Haynes not being saved by Adam, Mari losing the IS to Kim… Disaster season.

Season 18: Kailey Abel (deserved better)

Season 19: SID KINGSLEY, Payge Turner

S13: obviously Janice, but Ignatious leaving so early was upsetting, especially after his stellar audition.

S14:

S15: Patrique Fortson was too good to leave that early in the competition, one of the best male singers ive ever heard on The voice. Even if his only live performance was pitchy at parts, there were still several worse performances that night.

S16: Beth was already pointed out. But Matthew Johnsom and Domenic Haynes shouldn't have left when they did. Not just based on their overall run, but their last performances were some of the best of the lives. The s16 live cast would have been much better with them in it, seeing as they gave some of the few live performances not belonging to Shawn or Maelyn that weren't pitchy messes.

S17: Mendelyev. Had so much potential to have a great run and be one of my personal favourites on The voice. Still has one of the most heartfelt blinds I've ever listened to.

S18: can't think of any atm.

S19: Kelsie watts. Sad for a different reason though, that she had to end on that note when we know she's capable of so much more.. and ofc, everyone knowing Julia wasn't going to make lives regardless of how she performed (which she did very well) is just depressing.

S20: Savanna Woods. Proving once again that more modern, heavier rock doesn't have a place on the voice :(

S21: Gymani losing the instant save. Libianca leaving after giving one of the better playoff performances (which normally suck) and surprising all the doubters as to whether her voice would translate well live.

Kimberly Nichole is my answer. not only did i absolutely bawl my eyes out when she was eliminated, but i still can’t hear Free Falling by Tom Petty on the radio without thinking about how that was one of the songs that eliminated her💔 i was truly traumatized by this!!!

India was solid and didn't deserve to be B2 either, but she didn't deserve that save. IIRC, she only got it because Ansel Elgort, who's a close friend of hers, tweeted to save her while Kimberly ended up tweeting the wrong hashtag 🤬, but it was still a very close vote and it stung hard, even more so to see India being robbed next week after Earth Song, which was a showstopper.

Well my answer is gonna be very different from what many of you have posted here😂

I was a big fan of Brendan Fletcher on S11. I specifically loved his folk/rock style, and by all means he went pretty far on the show. But I was absolutely disgusted by his last two song choices. True Colors and Angel were some of the most lazy-ass song chocies he could ever choose and I can't believe he would do that, and he had the vocal ability of ruining Angel, like a kid could sing better than him lol. I'm sad not because he was eliminated, but because he was such a huge let down for me in the last stretch, and he could never recover from that. And after the show, he returned back to the little folk stuff which I really like lol.

I guess moral of the story is don't take the show too seriously, which is why I never get heartbroken anymore😂

For this season in particular, I'd say Devix. He was probably my favorite contestant this season and I don't think he should've ended up in the bottom in the first place. I think I've seen people place him and bodie in the same category but I think they're different as he kinda embodies a modern heavier rock vibe which I enjoy (since I dont particularly find myself enjoying classic rock). He did Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, and The Killers which were all great picks in my eyes. Like someone above said earlier, seeing him gone so soon just affirms me that nobody in a more modern heavier rock lane would make it far into this show. Kinda sucks cause I also would've loved to see a metalcore artist on this show someday.

I think he's gone the farthest any modern rock artist has made it on the show too?

I'm just glad he wasn't bussed with song choices, though you can argue he did that to himself in terms of garnering votes. But at least he stayed true to himself as an artist.

I'm still amazed by this. They just let him do his thing for his entire run and that makes me so happy.

(They probably knew he wasn't a threat anyway lol and Camila was the new coach so her people would be treated well)
