Contestants who had a "breakout moment" in the KOs, but didn't go far

same! i all of her performances.

i'll agree and say that she didn't seem like the frontrunner after battles; there really was no apparent frontrunner on team kelly after battles imo.

Micah was hands down her frontrunner after battles, he killed it. Unfortunately, that was also his best performance, all of his other performances lacked in comparison.

I admit, though, that he was still more consistent than Megan on his run, so it's understanable that he was Kelly's finalist (He earned his last place in the finale, though. He destroyed "Chasing Cars" and not in a good way)

i wouldn't say he was the frontrunner in the way that i'd define frontrunner. he did well in his battle, but he didn't do so well that he was necessarily going to be kelly's rep in the finale based on what he did in the battles. i wouldn't say he was far above the others.

I'm actually still baffled Micah was Kelly's finalist, it seems with Megan's KO, that she was going to sweep the rest of Kelly's team.

But apparently one song choice nowadays can take you to the ground and emerge the unexpected....

Darn it Kelly, she should have let Megan sing something like "Let Him Fly" her cover on YT somewhere is so good. Or if wanting to try the Christian lane, go with "Reckless Love" cover is amazing too.

Meh whatever, still salty though.

He was Kelly's finalist from day one. None of Kelly's other contestants came close imo.

Kique would enter in this category?? I mean, considering the hype his knockout got, i would have expected of him to be at least Gwen's last contestant standing instead of Justin.

(Btw, i finally got the hype over it, it was a really, really good performance, so, don't take this as shade)

Not doubting that it was a "breakout" in the public's eyes, but I thought people were underestimating him all along. He seemed a little nervous in his BA and it affected his stage performance, but all those things he did vocally easily put him near the top of the list imo. You could argue that his upper range was a little lacking, but he's young and isn't that what coaching's for?

His battle, yeah it wasn't great but the song Gwen chose didn't really fit. Then she kept saying it's a classic, don't change the melody etc. so he couldn't really do anything about it lol. (Rant over but yeah, bad coaching move on Gwen's part.) He was always a great vocalist, sadly great vocalists often get overlooked on the show so I'm not  surprised he didn't go far. I didn't really think Gwen was getting someone in the finale anyway...

If their run on the show stalled out not long after their “breakout moment,” by definition, it wasn’t much of a breakout after all, right? At least, that’s how I see it.

There is a reason why "breakout moment" is on quotation marks
