Artists that Could Have Made the Finale/Semifinals (but Were Eliminated before the Lives)

Cassadee, Tessanne, Alisan, Chloe, and Maelyn were all well over the age of 18 at the time of their respective wins. 🧐

5/8 female wins on the show were from older women, as opposed to teenagers. Wow, I didn't realize this before 🤯

Being over 18 is not as big of a deal for TMV if the artist is female. That's more of a hindrance if the artist is male (don't ask why because TMV is weird and irrational). Cassadee, Tessanne, Alisan, Chloe, and Maelyn were all well over the age of 18 at the time of their respective wins. 🧐

Cassadee (S3) = 23 years old

Tessanne (S5) = 28 years old

Alisan (S10) = 34 years old

Chloe (S13) = 23 years old

Maelyn (S16) = 26 years old

Specifically referred to female pop singers over 18. And Maelyn is the only one who has made finale in recent years (mostly because she had no competition and she was fantastic).

And hard disagree with the statement that males have a disadvantage.

Btw those people @disney1024 mentioned all had different factors that allowed them to win that didn’t have anything to do with their age and sex.

Cassadee would have never won if she hadn’t switch to country mid-season, Tess is one of the best vocalists to ever step on a singing contest, Alisan was also a great vocalist + super consistent and really versatile and Maelyn was on another league compared to her competition.

Chloe was Team Blake and sang/flipped corny 80s songs which the audience loved + she had a really unique tone.

My point that those people only won not because of their age and sex, they won despite that.

I agree. Christina Grimmie struggled to even make the finale.

Yeah, this is a more elaborated version of what I was referring to earlier. All the women mentioned had other factors that allowed them to win.

h-how?

When was the last time a male in their 20s won The Voice? 🤨

Besides Sawyer and Carter, all of the men that won the show were older men (i.e. in their mid-to-late 30s). 🤔

Jordan Smith says hi.

Jordan wasn't in his late 20s or mid- to- late 30s. He was in his early 20s aka 22(during the show). But otherwise I agree.

Micah, CammWess, Gyth, Dexter, Kirk, Chris... all finalists and none of them were consistent vocally (and I haven’t even mentioned the older seasons)

Females have to be really good in order to make finale. Winning the show is not an accurate factor when it comes to comparing guys/girls dominance in the show.

Male winners = 11

Female winners = 8

Male Runner-ups = 10

Female Runner-ups = 9

Male 3rd placers = 10

Female 3rd placers = 9

Male 4th placers = 11

Female 4th placers = 8

Not including 5th places because we only had two of em.

Males have had a bit more dominance but I don't think the difference is large.

Right now the difference is really large. Only 5 female finalists out of 18 finalists in total in the last 4 seasons.

Julia Cooper

i LOVE her, she was probably my top 3 or top 5 last season, but i don't think she could have made it, unless she got john's save, and i'm fairly certain he wouldn't have let go of tamara.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but she was one of my favs after the blinds. She was so unique and I don't necessarily disagree with Tayler winning the battle, but I just really wanted to see more from Jules (i.e., actually see her battle).

yes! i loved jules! i also loved taylor, and hoped that one of them would go far, but jules' tone is so cool!!

Kelsie legit could have made 3rd at least, Minivan loved her(at least her BA stats on FB) And people kept saying she's a mini-Kelly, With Ryan's DQ and if Kelsie got better song choices, she could have beat Desz easily as Kelly's finalist. She could have very well beat Ian too, even hook a God song on her and you have a rare non-Blake Top 2, which would be possible with Kelsie and Carter in a showdown.

ugh kelsie was an icon, i can't believe she was elim'd so early 😭

No teen female has made it to the finale since S15 (Chevel & Kennedy) so they don't have much of an advantage anymore imo 🤔

allegra, megan, and joanna all made it to the semifinals.

Two of them made it through the coach save. Joanna I guess applies more to the topic since she did win the wildcard over a male in her age range (Michael) but I wouldn’t consider the three of them a solid argument for the teen female advantage over teen males, if there even is one.

Joanna was also on Team Blake, which probably helped her win the Instant Save.

The argument was actually more about teen females supposedly having an advantage over older females (i.e. 20 years old or older) 😅

Still applies, Toneisha won over all teen females in the semi finals instant save.

edit: Ur totally right tho, in a way it doesn’t apply as much since she was on Team Blake. It’s still pretty debatable

Moriah Formica could've made it at least to semis in S13 if Miley weren't obsessed with beating Blake with her own country snger (Ashland). Apparently all three of the ohter coaches and her own mother told her to advance Moriah instead and she didn't listen. :dead:

Agreed 100%. She would have at least gone to the semis.

Minivan loves classic rock, and he was no exception.

For some reason TPTB has been really hard on rock singers lately. Todd got a bus song for his KO, Jake got f****** Adele for his PO's, and Van was double montaged. Even if they do make it to a round where Minivan can vote, they do all they can to make sure they aren't going anywhere.

Probably unpop but this decision pisses me off even more than Miley picking Ashland over Chloe.

Oh definitely. Miley picking Ashland over Chloe is probably what allowed Chloe to win the season. 😄
