Sorry I felt salty today.

Anyway. Off topic but is MJSBIGBLOG dying?

She hasn't posted any news headlines threads or AI alumni threads in awhile!

Is there even anything worth posting?

Idk I know it's the AI off season but her blog is not what it once was content and community wise!

Neither are most Idol forums.  These days, once the show is over, viewers lose interest and move on - quickly.

Months ago the content on MJ's started decreasing. This site used to have a lot of content even during Idol's off season. There used to be a thread with Idol news headlines for any alum in history. This used to be daily. In recent years, it was every few days then it became weekly. Now, there's no longer a thread. That stopped during the past Idol season. MJ used to highlight any news articles from Idol alums. Also, Idol fans posted any other news of alums including concerts, other news, etc. Sure, most of it in recent years highlighted news from the successful alums such as Adam, Kelly, Carrie, Scotty, Jennifer, etc. However, there also was news articles & discussion about other alums over the years (Ex. Kris, James Durbin, Jordin, etc.). I liked these threads because I liked knowing what some of the alums were doing. Fans don't really seem to do that on IDF.

They stopped doing other threads, too. Single/Album threads from Idol alums, charts (Mediabase/Billboard), concerts where fans could post videos from concerts, etc, For instance, there's no thread about Abi's music she has released. Typically, high placing or successful Idol alums (Ex. Haven, Chayce, HunterGirl, etc.) have a separate thread when they release music.

Now it basically only recaps about several shows such as Idol, TV, DWTS, Survivor, & The Masked Singer. Of course, Idol isn't what it used to be. But even last year there was a thread about Idol in the off season every few days on MJ's. That's not the case anymore and I don't know the reason either.

Things I definitely 100% noticed about her blog...

It's also full of stupid ads that thankfully are blocked on my ad blocker. lol

What happened was that there wasn't enough traffic on the Blog.  Regular posters began to dwindle.  Comments on threads became more sparse, so it wasn't worth the time and effort to compile the Headlines, Music threads.

In order for the alums to have some kind of career after the show - they need to build a fan base outside the Idol bubble.  The Idol demographic isn't enough.  That's why Kelly's, Carrie's fans rarely posted on MJ's.  Their fan bases have gone way beyond Idol.  It has to be, they have been off the show for years.  And that should be the goal.

Yes, it's certainly understandable. Many of the successful alums fanbases stopped posting or moved to different sites. I was always surprised there were fans of some successful alums that regularly posted there. For example, this was true of Adam's fans.

no I am going to let me hearing her first 2 singles be the primary reason. His opinion just backs that up so im good.

Listen to the first song all the way through. If you don’t like it, don’t bother listening to anything else she ever does. I think it’s absolutely beautiful and moving. The story telling, vocals, and production are all there and I just don’t know what else it would take to reach someone. I sent it to a. Few random casual music fans out of the blue and they all loved it.

I had also been disappointed in her releases to this point, but I think there are 3-4 new songs on the album that to me are a big leap in terms of maturity.

on the topic of off-season/post-show successs, i really do think it is commendable that Blake/Haven/Kaibrienne/Kayko have been able to go on a nationwide tour together throughout this Fall. even though it feels like the only dedicated Idol communities online right now are here and Reddit, there is clearly still a committed audience that will financially and mentally invest in the show beyond us.

it's also kinda funny that Kaibrienne is the only one from that tour that had a somewhat positive reception on IDF :dead: however, regardless of how i feel about their talent, i will say that it was pretty clear Haven/Kayko would be amongst the most successful from their seasons - even if that success is on a smaller level. they have passion and drive, as well as an ability to connect with a niche audience, that many other acts struggle to navigate during/after the show.

Speaking of this concert I'm going to it next weekend! I can't wait to see KB again! ❤️

Don't get me wrong, I don't really mind some types of country music and I admit what I typed was on impulse. It's just that I've seen enough country males on singing show in hot water already. Sorry about that.

its more like the show doesnt do background checks and it ends up bitting them in the *** in the end ... them being country is just more of an inconvenience

Yeah it was more of an irony. What I did was like equating him to other country singers in music industry and it sounded like I typed it out of spite.

I agree that they should do background checks more thoroughly as well.

Show should increase age limit.

18-37 sounds good.

Or how about anyone who was eligible on age at one point in their lives should become eligible. Meaning anyone who met the upper age limit in Season 4 (the highest, which had a birth date of July 1976). As far as the lower limit, it has been well established.

We don't need 17 and 16 and 15 year olds on Idol. imo

I would not want to raise the age limit beyond the current 28.  The music industry is tough enough on age - as unfair as that is.

I also do not want to see sob stories of those in their 30's - with their little Kelly, little Carrie (named after their favorite Idol) mugging for the camera asking viewers to vote for their daddy, mommy.

Will is releasing a new single in 12/6. I was meh on his first post-show single, and don’t care for his Christmas cover, but this one sounds like a hit.

I know he co-wrote this one, because I posted a clip in his fan thread of him singing it in the writing session several months ago.

He’s getting a lot of positive feedback everywhere for this teaser. The question is will the label will promote it?
