Here’s a festival in Kentucky that both Will and Emmy are performing at next month.

I only posted this for the Emmy fans, since Will has something like 2 fans on IDF, including me.

I’m not sure whether Will has music ready to release soon, or if he’s getting interest from the label, but he seems to be able to book as many gigs he can handle.

Will is followed by the 19Recordings IG account.  That’s a pretty good sign.

They also follow Jordan, McKenzie, Emmy, Jack, Triston, Aaji, Mia, and Jayna.

So, they only follow 65 accounts, and 9 of them are from this past season. Seems like a lot.

it also seems like they are glaringly missing someone else from this season.

McKenna didn’t win. 19R not working with the winner is unprecedented.

Iam Tongi didn't get their support initially. Js.

Maybe not from the main label (BMG/BBR) But 19R was with him from Day 1.

The 19R folks have not even acknowledged Abi’s existence.

ETA: Iam dropped a song in August 2023 with a 19R copyright

Technically, 19 is involved with Iam. If you see his credits in his post-show music he's released, 19 is credited (Ex. "Why Kiki"). He's not signed to another label besides 19. For example, Chayce is signed to 19 & Wheelhouse Records, an imprint of Broken Bow Records which is a big label. 19 just isn't promoting Iam, but he's with them.

Abi does not have 19 credited on her post-show music. Neither does KB on her recent song released. Both only have Groundwork credited. I assume Abi, KB, & Blake since they signed with Groundwork previously were not allowed to sign with 19.

That’s what I am saying. Every winner up to now has been signed by 19 R. Until Iam, every winner was ALSO signed by an outside label.

So the last two winners have seen less and less support from the “machine” surrounding American Idol.

It’ll be interesting to see what’s next for Abi.  She has an album's worth of originals already as shown by the set list from her show. She seems to be getting all the resources she needs so far and has teased song*s* coming soon. So far her management seems to be doing well by her.

$250k from the win and probably sold $400k worth of tickets to her concert. No clue what piece of that she got (wild guess of netting $50k), but seems she’s got some runway to make a long go of it and is not hard pressed to sign a deal right away.

It’s fun to speculate and root for her. Hoping for a tour announcement next.

I wouldn't want 19R's support!

Imo.

Or Hollywood Records. If they even sign alumni anymore...

Abi will be fine. No need to worry when the AI machine hasn't supported all the winners fully since Kris Allen won.

ABC American Idol winners are treated the worst.

Chayce is damn lucky he had a hit.

You can't even buy CDs, or vinyl from some of these ABC alumni. Nor hope for fall albums.

Mainly because of streaming. 🙄

Idk. No big deal. To waste money, get no support, and have someone else own the rights to your music.

Indie is best!!

It was predictable when they signed on with Groundwork in the middle of the season. KB’s videos being taken down, and later reposted wasn’t a coincidence. They could have DQ’d them, but that would have been too much mess in the middle of the season. I suspect at least one of them considered dropping out.

Meanwhile, “Peppermint Sky” only has  19,390 plays for the first 5 days.

i think Abi needs to lock in on the social media game a bit more (and perhaps get a social media manager, but that might be outside of the budget atm which is fine). i follow many small/independent artists on instagram and tiktok - leading up to their single releases, they are *constantly* making TikToks/videos to promote the music. that wasn't the case with this single. there also has been minimal content related to her arena show posted on Instagram since it occurred, primarily just reposting instagram stories - she should be milking that more!

it's also harder when considering that Groundwork is a lower budget label that can't really push the song on playlists. but she seems to be happy with the artistic/creative freedom they give her which is good? obviously i love Abi and have been streaming the music, but it's also easy to point out why things might start going in the wrong direction.

Reality show contestants generally don’t know how to promote themselves. I’ve mentioned this about several (honestly all) of my favorites over the years. I have low expectations for the contestants these days. It’s definitely not exclusive to Abi.

for sure. i think that producers/judges make the contestants feel too comfortable about what their careers will look like post-season, and then the contestants get blindsided when they realize the industry is very harsh and cutthroat.

I would say that the 2 most important skills a singer can learn is 1 how to market yourself and use social media and 2 how to write a good song. Both of these skills are essential for people trying to break into the music industry.

I haven’t ever followed the show this closely, but based on what I’ve read here it seems that Abi has come out of the blocks way faster than any winner in a long time. Within a couple of months, she’s released a single and headlined a nearly full arena.

Yes, the streaming numbers aren’t good so far and the concert was in her home town. Valid reasons to temper excitement. But she will also have at least an EP out in the fall if not a full album.

I suspect her idol single was written/chosen with motives other than shooting for a hit and though I really like Peppermint Sky it was probably rushed out to coincide with the concert. She has songs more suited to mainstream success in the hopper and may be saving them for the album.

I also think she has the potential to organically generate buzz with her live performances. She’s captivating in a unique way.

Ultimately, I don’t think she’s on the route to being a mega pop star, I think she’s going to end up being a well respected singer and musician with a slow burn and decent commercial success.

Way too early and barely informed prognostications from an obsessed fan…

This just isn't true.

Nah Chayce >>> her by a lot.

Like I said I didn’t follow the show this way before. I really just meant in the first  couple of months.  Totally agree that Abi’s gotta get a mainstream hit in her first EP/Album to keep pace with the impact 23 had for Chayce.

I’m mostly impressed that she put on a legit, full concert of 80% originals a couple of months after winning and just 7-8 months removed from complete obscurity.  Her pace has been furious so far. I do expect a lull now though, and the streaming numbers must come up with future releases for sure.
