Oh. And for not being Swift. Who is from PA sadly. But never was truly a country star but a pop star! Duh. Lol

Hear, hear. Taylor Swift was never country and never had any intention of staying in country music. Her intent all along was to use it as a springboard into her preferred genre, pop, since a lot of country radio station executives are desperate for those with crossover appeal. Goodbye and good riddance to Taylor Swift.

I think constantly highlighting how Jeremiah's father didn't accept him helped the viewing audience of southern middle-aged women also make the decision to not want to vote for him. It has never been good for a contestant on American Idol to be open about their sexuality on their show.

i do agree to an extent; my only issue with that being that they did invite his parents to the Top 8 show and made it a big deal that they supported him. although the long term damage may have already been done by that point?

as much as i hate to say it him being a ballad king also very much contributed to the downfall :(  i'm still not over how Wade managed to outplace him (as well as others in the Top 5 but i at least saw that coming)  :dead:

I think after they invited his parents to the show, Jeremiah confirmed that his father still doesn't accept him, so it looks like they supported him being on the show, but his dad still didn't accept him as a gay man, so inviting his parents to be on the show didn't do anything positive for him. Idol was just trying to give itself positive PR by inviting his parents to the show rather than trying to diffuse the situation, which is one of the reasons I call ABC Idol soulless.

That would be Ryan and the judges were begging for votes for everyone except Jeremiah for the Top 6 show 'cause Jeremiah was giving the show bad publicity even though it was American Idol's fault Jeremiah sharing that his father didn't accept him was even a story. They had enough of Jeremiah and wanted him gone since he was harshing on Idol's image as a feel-good show. And no, this is not a conspiracy. Jeremiah confirmed his father still didn't accept him.

You made me laugh. Lol

Anyway. Yeah I don't like TSwift ok?

We cool? Lol

She's alright creative wise and its cool she loves cats too but I don't like her voice.

This isnt to say she isn't a huge success and hard ass worker. Imo

I liked Shake it Off... For like five secs.

Redoing all her albums is impressive until you realize...

She has enough bank to not even have to worry about her past efforts.

Sorry if being critcial of her means I have no taste in pop or I am musically stunted.

Maybe I will be a fan someday. Just a fan not a Swiftie cult member. :P

Yeah, we're cool since we're bonding over our dislike of Taylor Swift.

The only reason she redid her albums was 'cause of money purposes since she didn't own much of her older catalogue.

Whether Taylor Swift does something can usually be predicted by whether it'll earn her money or more time in the limelight.

That is why she intentionally dated people knowing their prior reputations so that she could write songs about them and why she makes a million versions of her albums. It's also likely why she chose to date a football player as it was likely an attempt to grow her fanbase and get more news headlines around that. I know Travis Kelce will probably not end up as her husband once she has used up the upside of their relationship.

I can say I will never be a fan of hers no matter what happens as her #1 hater.

Oh and I love Lady Gaga, P!nk, Katy Perry. Etc. So yeah. Lol

Huge pop music fan but just very picky.

I am old school. If I hear ya on the radio I will YouTube you. Or on Music Choice. Haha Barely use Spotify anymore though I am trying to stream songs just to help faves. I use iTunes too. 🎵 😅

Sorry I helped derail the thread again...

Also sorry if I came across rude I just like what I like music wise. 🤷‍♀️

While Jeremiah’s being openly gay probably played a role in his not getting enough votes, he might have gotten farther than Wade had he done at least one uptempo or mid tempo song.  And I think that you’re just speculating on why the judges and Ryan chose not to beg for votes for him.  Maybe they just assumed that he’d be safe.

When Ryan can literally see the votes live these days, and the judges are regularly informed about how the voting is going, there was no assuming that Jeremiah is safe.

One of the contestants this season said that it was obvious if someone was in danger 'cause they would be looked at differently.

I agree that Jeremiah did do too many ballads, but your narrative that they were assuming Jeremiah would be safe flies in the face of the voting information the people involved have access to these days.

Imagine if they ended up adding Abi to the show. :dead:

Abi has actually been very busy and has already moved to LA. She is choosing to prioritize what makes sense for her, and if that show isn't a priority for her, it doesn't mean that she has next to no drive like Noah from a couple seasons back.

Having recently watched some A17 performances I can see the appeal in Wade’s tone and song choices but his actual performances had me saying “girl find the note”

Also Jeremiah being eliminated after Somewhere was high key robbery.

If your second song is a better choice, you just might be screwed. I remember being a little confused when he performed a sped up "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" to start off.

Does that stop him from being my fav of the season, or realizing he definitely got 5th in votes? Absolutely not. S17 is a total anomaly in that my Top 4 favs were all male. 💀 (Remember Dimitrius and those opera skills?)
