KelseyW Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 No it's not life or musical death. But pop culture relevance is at stake! Anyway...

Emmys are given based on how the show looks and sounds on the screen. They don’t give out Emmys based on how the contestants sing, lol. If they haven’t changed the process, the producers pick ONE episode to represent the whole season and that’s what they get judged on. This issue used to come up when I still was a fan of a certain soap. Some producers just knew how to pick the right episode that would appeal to the voting members. I consider those awards kind of overrated anyway. Like, yeah, they are important, but we know the voting members can have certain biases. 1

QueenKalie Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 Before The Voice got cheap and really cut back on production costs they were definitely the better produced show so it makes sense I guess. 1
wildestinvegas Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 (edited) kinda random but i've been a chappell roan stan ever since i came across pink pony club mid-pandemic in 2020 when she was a nobody so i'm over the moon with her smashing like she's currently doing right now (8 songs charting on spotify US, good luck babe about to become a top 10 hit on spotify global!!!!) bc i always thought she was something special even when she only had 2 songs out. i feel like that's my non-idol version of what it would feel like to have an idol contestant blowing up Edited June 23, 2024 by wildestinvegas 3 1

nytsch Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 I will also claim to have liked Chappell Roan before she was famous even though I only heard Hot to Go at the beginning of this year lol (this is my last off topic post I promise)

Wait a minute…I had never heard of her, but I just looked at her IG, and LOL’d that you think she has “girl next door” appeal that would play with the Idol audience.

I think constantly highlighting how Jeremiah's father didn't accept him helped the viewing audience of southern middle-aged women also make the decision to not want to vote for him. It has never been good for a contestant on American Idol to be open about their sexuality on their show. 1

Yeah, if the producers start making so much emphasis on the queerness of a contestant, that is gonna make that contestant to lose votes. Because... guess what?? Minivan is homophobic and transphobic, who knew lol. I assume Just Sam could win because there was not a lot of emphasis on their queerness. As far as i know, someone said that it was mentioned once and never again. Edited June 24, 2024 by Gustavo527 1

And much like Gaga... (who I at first was scared of lol) Just sounds whiney. Sorry. I have to give her props for the set, her outfits, and the overall 1980s vibe. Oh. And for not being Swift. Who is from PA sadly. But never was truly a country star but a pop star! Duh. Lol Ahem. Idk. I haven't found good music outside of American Idol singers. In eons. Someone commented on the video it was like teenagers discovering Elvis for the first time. I'm like. K. Did we watch the same performance? Idk. I would rather watch Abi sing. But thats mainly because she's the pop star in the making AI has wanted since ABC bought the rights in 2017. Big talk? Maybe. I just see so much potential in Abi!! Thar and her voice doesn't sound like others I follow. It's unique. This upcoming concert better sellout. I am nervous for the numbers. Anyway. It takes a lot to impress me ok? I have seem so many pop stars in my teenager years till now. Only a handful of them I still follow and care about. Rant over. Edited June 24, 2024 by KelseyW 1 2
