Alex95 Posted December 3, 2024 Author Posted December 3, 2024 20. Marie Osmond & Jonathan Roberts - "Good Morning" (Quickstep) 17.13/20 Watch Here @Solaris - 11/20 @*Lily - 14/20 @FrogLenzen - 14/20 @Alex95 - 19/20 @*Wallace - 19/20 @taylorkat - 20/20 @*Diana - 20/20 @*Chris - 20/20 Sola Quote her shining moment of the season! Lily Quote I thought this was a really fun take on the Quickstep and it really fit Marie well. Her footwork was pretty good for the mostpart and she was totally in character, at times I think the frame lost its tightness and the gapping could have been closer, but I thought it was thoroughly enjoyable. Derek Quote Cute. This is here to give us a break from the other couples Alex Quote I wasn't dying for some Marie Osmond representation here or anything. Marie's hilariously awful freestyle and her passing out are all I care to think about when it comes to her time on the show. As a dance this is fine. It's far from perfect, but yeah it's Marie at her best hamming it up on the dance floor. She just can't compete with Helio and the other women this season. Wally Quote Marie was at her best with both of the Quicksteps she performed. This was a really cute, fun and elegant Quickstep. She had a good frame and moved well across the stage. She performed this dance with a lot of joy which was great to see. I do think this was my favorite dance of hers during the season - and I'm sure that still stands today. 19. Hélio Castroneves & Julianne Hough - "Get Up Offa That Thing" (Cha-Cha) 15.63/20 Watch Here @*Diana - 9/20 @*Chris - 9/20 @Alex95 - 13/20 @*Wallace - 17/20 @taylorkat - 18/20 @*Lily - 19/20 @Solaris - 20/20 @FrogLenzen - 20/20 Alex Quote This is just a solid performance from Helio. No, it's nothing amazing to write home about. No we didn't need two Cha-Cha's from Helio here. Helio is so comfortable on that stage though and it's just clear from watching him how much fun he's having, which is something that I can appreciate. Wally Quote This was a really fun Cha-Cha from Hélio & Julianne. I don't consider this one of Hélio's biggest standouts - like the other dances I have higher. But it's definitely in his top half routines and this is still a fun and entertaining routine. I like the fun and infectious personality Hélio showcases here. These fun personality filled dances really suit him. There was good partnering and side by side work here. Ooh and Julianne was such a fierce thing in this! It's hard to not just watch her in this. I just love so many more dances and feel bad I can't rank it any higher than this. Lily Quote This was certainly more in Helio's wheelhouse and it was a really enjoyable performance. I thought Julianne did a great job with the choreography and there was a lot of great Cha-Cha content in there mixed with disco moves. It was great fun to watch! Sola Quote solid his second one was superior though. Derek Quote Cute. I get it. But that doesn’t mean I like it. 18. Jane Seymour & Tony Dovolani - "Perfidia" (Tango) 14.88/20 Watch Here @FrogLenzen - 8/20 @*Lily - 9/20 @Alex95 - 15/20 @Solaris - 15/20 @*Chris - 16/20 @*Wallace - 18/20 @taylorkat - 19/20 @*Diana - 19/20 Derek Quote Jane is such a babe, even with a wig I hate and a dress I hate. She really filled in the space for this dance and maintained the character to the end. Len is right that the acting is extra important for this dance style and she nailed it 100%. Lily Quote Even after all that she went through, Jane was able to come out and deliver a mesmerising Tango. It was her best week for sure, she completely invested in the characterisation and her technique was the best we had seen it. A really beautiful moment, one of the most raw moments in all 33 seasons IMO. Alex Quote I'm already regretting not ranking this one higher. Not that it would've made much of a difference, but I really do love it. The story of Jane losing her mom earlier in the week and then going out there and delivering such a fierce and passionate tango. If it happened in a modern season those producers would've milked it for all it's worth for weeks . It's just one of those classic DWTS Moments. Jane may not be one of the most memorable celebs in DWTS history, but I certainly remember and love her! Sola Quote I liked Shoop Shoop more, but this is her best. Wally Quote I know that objective the Tango was Jane & Tony's best dance. But I kinda always felt more partial towards her Viennese Waltz. But with that said, yeah this was obviously really good. She brought a lot of passion and chemistry with Tony here. Loved her leg action/work that she showcased here. And she did dance this routine beautifully. 17. Hélio Castroneves & Julianne Hough - "Para Los Rumberos" (Mambo) 13.88/20 Watch Here @*Wallace - 7/20 @*Chris - 10/20 @taylorkat - 13/20 @*Diana - 14/20 @Alex95 - 16/20 @Solaris - 16/20 @*Lily - 16/20 @FrogLenzen - 19/20 Wally Quote Okay noww this is an Hélio dance that I absolutely love! I'm not sure of the general consenses of this dance compared to Hélio's other dances, but this has always been one of my top favorite dances from him. This was the first dance from Hélio where he really let loose, showcase and showed how much fun he was having as a performer and dancer. I also really love the song choice, Julianne's choreography and how Hélio executed it. THis dance was just SO MUCH FUN! And it's truly an infectious dance where parts of it would stay on my mind. I love so many parts of this dance though my favorite HAS to be that moment where Julianne flipped over Hélio's back and then she danced over him with him having the time of his life. But then I love all of the partnering dancing they do. Hélio maybe have had some better technical dances than this later in the season but this still remains one of my biggest favorites from him! Alex Quote I was pretty surprised to see this so low because I thought this was wildly believed to be one of Helio's best dances. As you can see by my ranking, I don't necessarily disagree with this placement. I think Helio was a bit sloppy early on and he had to clean up his technique a bit. But the performance aspect! There is no denying that Helio was the star of the season when it came to performing. And this dance is just another example of why that is. Sola Quote fiery! Lily Quote Helio proved there was really no reason to be nervous about the Mambo, he completely crushed this performance. It was filled with energy and charisma, and some great lifts. His hip action was pretty strong too, I think he could have gone even looser at moments but so impressive once again for someone with no performance background. Derek Quote His movement is slightly awkward but his confidence really keeps the dance alive to the finish. His body doesn’t provide the stability, it’s his attitude. 16. Hélio Castroneves & Julianne Hough - "Love Rollercoaster" (Cha-Cha) 13.5/20 Watch Here @*Chris - 4/20 @*Wallace - 11/20 @Alex95 - 12/20 @Solaris - 14/20 @FrogLenzen - 15/20 @taylorkat - 16/20 @*Diana - 16/20 @*Lily - 20/20 Wally Quote Ah hahaha, I've always and absolutely loved this Cha-Cha from Hélio & Julianne. His first Cha-Cha was really good but I thought this dance was on another level. This dance is wild and such a blast of a time! Hélio had so much fun and had great energy with this dance. I loved all of the partnering work, a lot of which was really impressive. I do feel like and just noticed a little mistake in the pot stirring move. But eh, it didn't take my love away from this. But the Cha-Cha basics, like the New Yorkers, were really great and fantastic. Alex Quote I think Helio having two Cha-Chas in the end kinda backfired on him here. I think both dances are great and show off how strong Helio is at the style. And I don't disagree with ranking this one a bit higher because I do think it's stronger. I wish they could've finished a bit better. I think if there was just one, it would've at least made it out of the first update. Sola Quote great dancing and choreo! Derek Quote Ummm a bit wild Lily Quote I thought Helio and Julianne gave another really enjoyable Cha-Cha full of personality and entertainment. I actually felt like it needed a bit more Cha-Cha content, it took a little bit of time to fully get into the technique and it could have been a tad cleaner for me, but there was some great hip action and footwork on display.
FrogLenzen Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Not surprised about Marie, a little sad about Jane but I'll live Didn't necessarily expect the rest to be Helio even though I did rank these pretty low. Already starting to sweat about certain routines ranking too high
*Wallace Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Oh no, this set was going so good up until Helio's Mambo got robbed. Dangg, so sad to see that one show up so soon as it was one of my favorite dances of his too. Shocked that I am the highest ranker for that dance as I thought some others would have ranked it high. Also bummed to see his second Cha-Cha show up this soon. That one could have made it a little higher. Though I agree with Alex that maybe having both of his Cha-Cha's hurt it (as the first one wasn't really needed imo). Fine with the placement of the other dances though.
Alex95 Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 (edited) 15. Jennie Garth & Derek Hough - "Fallen" (Rumba) 13.5/20 Watch Here @Solaris - 8/20 @*Wallace - 10/20 @FrogLenzen - 10/20 @taylorkat - 12/20 @*Lily - 13/20 @*Chris - 17/20 @*Diana - 18/20 @Alex95 - 20/20 Sola Quote my favorite Rumba of the season! Wally Quote I do think that Jennie had a great week with her Viennese Waltz & Rumba, and I lowkey feel it was an underrated night for Jennie. This is such a classy, beautiful and stunning Rumba and I really loved this from Jennie & Derek. I love how Jennie was so expressive with her hands and lines here. The partnering dancing was so good and lovely. I loved the mix of fast and slow dancing in hold. She had lovely hip action here as well. Also the Jennie & Derek partnership was a fun and kinda funny one because Jennie thought of Derek as a little boy and like her little brother, but we didn't see that in this dance and they sold the romantic couple storyline well here. But yeah this is a stunning dance and absolutely one of Jennie's best! Derek Quote I remember rewatching this when I was trying to figure out why tf Jennie was in our Top 20 of the Rankdown lololol. This was respectable! Kept the movement flowing and filled in all the spaces. Lily Quote Considering Jennie's nerves about this dance, I thought she actually did a great job with it. It had a great demure quality to it and she was able to sell the romance, but on top of that, I thought the choreography was really nice and gave it a sensual quality. A really impressive routine all around! Alex Quote It was a pretty dance, but in the grand scheme of things in this top 20, also kind of boring and forgettable. Nothing against the dance, but I had to rank something last 14. Mel B & Maks Chmerkovskiy - "Car Wash" (Cha-Cha) 13.38/20 Watch Here (16:27) @taylorkat - 5/20 @Alex95 - 8/20 @FrogLenzen - 9/20 @*Chris - 15/20 @*Wallace - 16/20 @*Diana - 17/20 @*Lily - 18/20 @Solaris - 19/20 Alex Quote It was funky! It was fresh! It was cheeky! Some really fun choreography from Maks and just a joyful routine, especially for finale night. You're in the finale, it's supposed to be a celebration. I don't care if there was a little bet less Cha-Cha content when you're having FUN like this! Derek Quote Cute and fun. not mind-blowing but it’s entertaining. Sometimes it’s like she doesn’t know what to do with her arms Wally Quote The beginning of this dance always cracks me up with how Mel runs away from Maks and doesn't want to dance with him. And then she breaks out some fierce Cha-Cha dancing. Okay, this was a definite improvement from her first Cha-Cha. Mel was really fierce and hot here. I really loved Mel's run on the show and loved so many of her dances that this isn't even a main standout for me. But I can get how this is a standout for others. Mel had great partnering work, great hip action, performance skills and she really did slay this. Lily Quote I thought Mel did a pretty good job with the Cha-Cha, which I expected as I loved it the first time around. I'm not quite sure if it had that same wow factor for me, I actually found the beginning to be a tad messy, but I think they pulled it together and gave a really strong performance particularly in the latter half. Sola Quote she has more memorable routines in this Top 20! 13. Sabrina Bryan & Mark Ballas - "Me & Mrs. Jones" (Rumba) 12.75/20 Watch Here @FrogLenzen - 7/20 @*Wallace - 9/20 @*Lily - 11/20 @*Diana - 12/20 @Solaris - 13/20 @taylorkat - 14/20 @Alex95 - 18/20 @*Chris - 18/20 Derek Quote Great. Thumbs slightly trying to be a problem but she controlled it haha. Sabrina’s problem is that is just doesn’t feel as impressive by this point in the season, and it’s a shame that she got robbed. Wally Quote This was a really stunning and sensual Rumba from Sabrina & Mark! Sabrina is absolutely a fantastic dancer but it was great seeing a softer and more elegant side of Sabrina here. I loved how elegant she was with her lines and her movements. She had great and exaggerated hip action. I also loved all of the partnering they did - especially the part where they spin really fast, she wraps her leg around and he takes her down to the ground in a slow motion fashion. Sabrina & Mark had beautiful and romantic chemistry in this dance and sold it really beautifully. Lily Quote I thought Sabrina did a nice job with this routine and brought the sensuality to it which I wasn't quite sure whether she would get. I did however feel like it was a little fast at times and could have done with some more slow and romantic moments, but she kept up brilliantly. Sola Quote a precursor to the iconic rumba in All-stars! Alex Quote There's tea that they were a thing during or after the show right? I didn't make that up I don't think? Cause baby, the chemistry was chemistrying! Anyways, Sabrina's biggest flaw was that sometimes she was too big and had to reign it in. And I mean, that's a good problem to have. I'd rather have someone you have to reign it in than someone you need to bring it out of. But yeah, this dance was a bit too exaggerated a bit too big at times. But a lesser Sabrina dance is still better than what 95% of DWTS contestants put out. 12. Hélio Castroneves & Julianne Hough - "Amparito Roca" (Paso Doble) 11.5/20 Watch Here @*Lily - 6/20 @Alex95 - 7/20 @*Diana - 7/20 @*Chris - 7/20 @FrogLenzen - 12/20 @taylorkat - 15/20 @Solaris - 18/20 @*Wallace - 20/20 Lily Quote Helio really mastered the intensity of the Paso Doble like I hoped he would. There were moments he was smiling but I think it blended in nicely with the intensity that the dance needed, and I really appreciated the authenticity of the routine. Alex Quote I advocated for this dance and a few times and I'm glad I did! I think this dance is really underrated. Mel & Sabrina have two of the most iconic Paso's so I worried Helio's would be forgotten because of that. And while his doesn't live up to those two, it's still really good. It's bold, it's passionate, it's well-danced, there's a cape which always gets bonus points from me! Idk I loved it! Derek Quote Julianne ate. The cape was an interesting choice that worked in some moments and didn’t in others for me. Sola Quote solid, I just don’t get excited like I do the other paso’s this season. Wally Quote Goodness gracious, it's insane to think this dance (and all of these dances) happened 17 years ago, via the Youtube clip I saw uploaded then. Anywho, I don't know if I really agree with Hélio having 7 dances in the finals. 5 or 6 would have been fine. But of his dances, his Paso Doble is the one I least remember. Rewatching it, it was a good, solid Paso and he danced/performed it well. But it's not that memorable to me like many of his other dances here, nor as memorable as the Mel and Sabrina Pasos. 11. Mel B & Maks Chmerkovskiy - "A Woman's Worth" (Rumba) 10.75/20 Watch Here @*Lily - 1/20 @Alex95 - 6/20 @taylorkat - 8/20 @Solaris - 12/20 @*Diana - 13/20 @FrogLenzen - 13/20 @*Wallace - 14/20 @*Chris - 19/20 Lily Quote I thought this was so impressive from Mel and such an excellent Rumba. There was a great connection between her and Maks throughout, her solo moments were gorgeous, she had great extensions and lines and told a story with it. Alex Quote We conclude this very rumba heavy update with Mel's. I definitely agree with Mel's being ranked the highest. I think this Rumba had the most light and shade. It was sensual, it was entertaining. She is just such a strong dancer and proved it week after week in S5. Sola Quote beautiful routine. Derek Quote It’s fine. I don’t think she mastered this dance style as well as others. Wally Quote This Rumba from Mel & Maks is really gorgeous. I will admit that this dance probably isn't as on my mind or a dance I think about as much as most of Mel's other dances. And I am ashamed of that. But I still really loved this dance. Mel danced this so beautifully. But she also brought a lot of sensuality, grace and elegance in this dance. I loved how expressive she is with her lines and she had great hip action. The storytelling here was good and I loved the romance that they showcased here. Edited December 4, 2024 by Alex95

*Chris Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 The way Wally feels about the amount of Helio's routines in the Top 20 is exactly how I feel about the amount of Mel B's routine in the Top 20.
FrogLenzen Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 4 Mel 3 Helio 2 Sabrina 1 Jennie honestly at least it's not like 5 and 5 lol
Alex95 Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 10. Hélio Castroneves & Julianne Hough - "Land of 1000 Dances" (Freestyle) 10.75/20 Watch Here @*Chris - 5/20 @FrogLenzen - 6/20 @Solaris - 7/20 @taylorkat - 11/20 @*Diana - 11/20 @*Wallace - 12/20 @Alex95 - 17/20 @*Lily - 17/20 Derek Quote Wild and crazy. That last lift thing into the final pose is such the perfect ending and you can’t help but get excited with them. Not perfect but it was totally packed with content and dancing and energy. And, importantly, it demolished the competition in this particular round. Sola Quote back when Freestyles were iconic, and dominating a Freestyle meant something. Wally Quote This was a really fun and entertaining Freestyle from Hélio & Julianne. The racecar theme at the start of the dance was so perfect for Hélio. I do love how energetic and fun this dance was. Hélio was having the time of his life and performed & danced this really well. All of the lifts and tricks were really good and well done. I loved that part where Julianne flipped over his back and then all of those flips and tricks Hélio assisted Julianne on. I also loved that assisted cartwheel flip move they did. This was really fun and even as a Mel stan, I can admit that they had the best Freestyle of that night by far. Alex Quote So my unpopular opinion is that I think all of the freestyle this season were disappointing. Hélio's was by far the best. But Mel's was a huge letdown and Marie's was obviously the worst of all-time. So Hélio kind of won it by default? It wasn't bad, but I just expected a bit more. Hélio was the strongest performer of the season, Julianne created a fantastic one the year before with Apolo. This isn't me saying the freestyle was bad, it just simply didn't meet my high expectations. Lily Quote I feel like Helio and Julianne were the only couple to really deliver in all areas on their Freestyle, and I think it helped that Julianne had some good experience in this area from last season. Although I think it got a little bit slow in places, it was filled with exciting moves that didn't feel overly cliche and seemed to win the crowd over. 9. Mel B & Maks Chmerkovskiy - "Somebody to Love" (Viennese Waltz) 10.13/20 Watch Here @taylorkat - 4/20 @Solaris - 6/20 @*Wallace - 8/20 @*Lily - 8/20 @Alex95 - 10/20 @*Chris - 14/20 @*Diana - 15/20 @FrogLenzen - 16/20 Sola Quote An improvement on her first one! Beautiful dance. Wally Quote I thought Mel's first Viennese Waltz was good though one of her weaker dances. But her second Viennese Waltz was a great improvement from her first one. This was a really beautiful, smooth and elegant dance. Mel danced this so beautifully. Loved all of the dancing they did on the small stage. But then I really loved all of the dancing they did in hold. Though my favorite part was when she did those walking splits! That part was iconic! I also loved how sweet and romantic this dance was. I also think this was the first Viennese Waltz danced to from my favorite song by Queen, so that makes me love this even more! Definitely my favorite Mel ballroom dance. Lily Quote Mel managed to show great improvement from her first Viennese Waltz and once again deliver a really gorgeous routine. I thought the choreography was great, the amount of content was just right for the semi-finals and she showed no hesitation, once again a really impressive number. Alex Quote Like everyone said, so much improvement there. This is the epitome of a redemption dance. Take a style you struggled with and just show off how much you've grown throughout the journey. Lovely lines, gorgeous in hold, beautiful out of hold. Just such a stunning dance. Derek Quote VW is my favorite style on this show and love Mel’s splits so I feel bad about not liking this as much from her 8. Mel B & Maks Chmerkovskiy - "Spice Up Your Life" (Samba) 8.88/20 Watch Here @taylorkat - 2/20 @*Wallace - 3/20 @*Diana - 4/20 @FrogLenzen - 5/20 @*Chris - 11/20 @Alex95 - 14/20 @*Lily - 15/20 @Solaris - 17/20 Wally Quote I'm pretty positive that Mel & Maks had the first "Spice Up Your Life" Samba on these dancing shows.... and Mel's certainly stands out as one of the very best for me still to this day! As I said in some of my other comments, Mel really was a Queen of Latin dances and all of thse dances showcase that here. Oh right... Mel landed in the Bottom 2 the previous week - well she certainly made a statement with this dance! Anyway Mel had so much rhythm, great hip action, expressive lines and she sold the heck out of this performance. It does help dancing to one of her songs, though she would have slayed regardless. I loved all of the partnering work - and then the parts where they do some hip hop dancing in the middle. Ooh and wow the move she did where she did that split and got up slowly, sooo good. This dance is just SUCH a good time and always makes me happy. Derek Quote She’s so good at this movement! The choreo kind of struggles in the middle but then she pulls out a split and I scream every time lmao Alex Quote So while I think this is a great dance and Mel B owns these Latin routines, I always felt like the song choice kinda carries this performance a bit? I think the idea of Mel dancing to "Spice Up Your Life", of course everyone's gonna love it. It's just so on the nose. I think this is a great performance, but I think the novelty of her dancing to one of her iconic songs elevates it a bit more than it deserves. Lily Quote In what was a difficult week for Mel, she still managed to step it up and bring a really impressive performance for possibly the most difficult routine to learn. I love that she was able to bring her Spice Girls flair to it and include it with the traditional Samba moves. My one slight pet peeve was that I didn't like the break into the split - I think it took away from what could have included some more content, but still amazingly done. Sola Quote Mel getting dance to spice girls? We love to see it. 7. Jennie Garth & Derek Hough - "Mustang Sally" (Cha-Cha) 8.75/20 Watch Here @Solaris - 4/20 @*Wallace - 5/20 @taylorkat - 6/20 @*Diana - 6/20 @*Lily - 7/20 @Alex95 - 11/20 @*Chris - 13/20 @FrogLenzen - 18/20 Sola Quote My second favorite Cha Cha of the season. This ate and it all really came together for Jennie. Wally Quote Jennie's Cha-Cha transformation from Week 1 to Week 9 is one of my biggest and most favorite moments from Season 5! Jennie started off really nervous, timid and lacking confidence in herself and dancing with her first Cha-Cha though it was still a good debut performance. However, wow, she grew so much in confidence and dancing talent and really sold the heck out of this Cha-Cha! Jennie performed this with so much sass, attitude and a lot of fun. And she showcased her best dancing yet! I loved all of the partnering they did, which was so sharp, precise and on point! Jennie had great hip and leg action through the dance. Her technique was just soo good, soo improved! Then I love the last sequence of spins at the end. I just love watching this dance and it makes me happy everytime I watch this. Lily Quote Jennie was quite hit and miss for me ofver the season but went out on a high with this routine. I thought it was the perfect balance of technique and personality, and it felt like Jennie finally let loose and connected to the performance. On top of that, it was the cleanest she danced all season, and a joy to watch. Alex Quote I'm very happy Jennie placed this high. Like the others highlighted, her improvement from her first dance to her final dance here really is such a great aspect of the show. Not only did her dancing improve, but she was just so confident out there. It's a completely different person from Week 1 Jennie. And gotta give props to Derek for how he brought this out of her throughout the weeks with his very first partner ever. Derek Quote Extremely competent but missing the sizzle. Idk if she needed more confidence in the movement or something to make it looser 6. Mel B & Maks Chmerkovskiy - "Mambo Jambo" (Mambo) 7.88/20 Watch Here @taylorkat - 3/20 @Alex95 - 5/20 @*Wallace - 6/20 @*Diana - 8/20 @*Chris - 8/20 @Solaris - 10/20 @FrogLenzen - 11/20 @*Lily - 12/20 Alex Quote Any time a Mambo pops up in this game the writeup will start with me screaming about how desperately the show needs to bring Mambo back. Anyways, this is just Mel in the zone. Doing what she does best. She looks like a f*cking professional out there she owns this dance so much. That's my mother! Wally Quote Mel really was the Queen of Latin dances. I just loved all of these Latin dances from her and her Mambo was no exception. I just love how effortless Mel makes these dances look. She has great rhythm, musicality, personality, sass, partnering work, solo side by side work and just everything needed to pull off a strong Latin dance. I love how Mel and Maks dance the side by side stuff, so on point and in sync with each other. Then the partnering work was slick and so good! I also loved how much FUN they had here. They had moments of being really cheeky and silly but it all worked within the dance. Mel had two slayage dances this night (which leds me to shout out her Tango, as that dance was so good and so robbed ugh But very glad the Mambo made it through). Sola Quote that footwork Derek Quote Maks doing the absolute most lol Lily Quote Following Laila's brilliant performances last season, I trusted Maks to deliver a great Mambo for Mel, and was not disappointed. There were so many intricate moments in this performance and just a couple of them could have maybe been a tad sharper, but I thought it was a really enjoyable number.

Solaris Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 pretty predictable top 5, all fantastic dances.
Alex95 Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 Also shoutout to the random pintrest with multiple hq pictures of each dance. I thought I was gonna have to take shitty screenshots of all of them lmao.
*Wallace Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 From the #15 to #11 set, I do wish Jennie's Rumba and Sabrina's Rumbas were a little higher. But happy Jennie's was able to avoid the Bottom 5. I'm good with Mel's Cha Cha and Rumba being her first two dances to show up, as those were my lesser favorites from her. I'm also good with Hélio's Paso showing up too, as that was my least favorite of his in the Top 20.
Alex95 Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 5. Sabrina Bryan & Mark Ballas - "Don't Cha" (Cha-Cha) 7.38/20 Watch Here @Solaris - 3/20 @*Chris - 3/20 @FrogLenzen - 4/20 @taylorkat - 7/20 @Alex95 - 9/20 @*Lily - 10/20 @*Diana - 10/20 @*Wallace - 13/20 Sola Quote Best Week One Dance of all time as far as im concerned. Derek Quote I don’t consider myself a Sabrina Truther but there’s no denying that she was an all-timer. The amount of confidence and energy that she maintained for the whole routine while never looking awkward doing latin movement WEEK ONE is extremely impressive. Alex Quote Sabrina was insane for this lmao? Like, who gave her the right to serve this hard in the first week of the competition. If she came out like week 8 and danced this it probably would've been a 30 and nobody would've complained. Absolutely in the conversation for the greatest week one dances of all-time. Lily Quote For the first week, this really was like nothing we had ever seen before. Sabrina is such a dynamic performer and she was able to keep up with such a fast and exciting routine choreographed by Mark. The hip-hop flair was incorporated really well, and it had all the sexy and cheeky qualities that a Cha-Cha needed. I think a bit more light and shade at times would have been nice, but still amazing. Wally Quote Sabrina & Mark came out full guns blazing with this Cha-Cha! Up at this point of the 5 seasons of DWTS, the stood out as my favorite Week 1 dance. After all of these years, I do think a few dances matched and maybe eclipsed that. But this is still up there as one of the best Week 1 dances ever, imo. Sabrina danced this with SO much ferocity and attack. She was so sharp, precise and on it with all of her movements here! She had great partnering work and hip action - and she looked like she danced the Cha-Cha for eyars. Wowzers at how fast they danced this. Insane to see on Week 1! Her leg action was also so good. I also loved all of the hip hop sections they added on this. Obviously Len hated and was NOT here for that. It's funny how Len and Carrie Ann slated the dance for too much hip-hop. Whereas DWTS nowadays would totally embrace a dance like this. But Sabrina was fierce with that and I love how she and Mark made that work for this dance. 4. Hélio Castroneves & Julianne Hough - "Ain't That a Kick in the Head?" (Foxtrot) 7.00/20 Watch Here @*Lily - 2/20 @*Chris - 2/20 @Alex95 - 3/20 @FrogLenzen - 3/20 @*Diana - 5/20 @Solaris - 9/20 @*Wallace - 15/20 @taylorkat - 17/20 Lily Quote I really thought this was the epitome of a good Foxtrot. It was filled with charisma and really great, old-Hollywood star choreography. Helio played the part so well as usual and I thought it was such a lovely routine to watch. Alex Quote Helio was just warming up the first seven weeks. For the last three weeks of the competition he was pretty much like no more fooling around and then decided to just kick ass. Banger after banger after banger of a dance. This is what I like to see out of a Foxtrot. Just danced to perfection. Derek Quote Incredible. I will never get over how Helio woke up and decided to totally smoke the competition. He was always cute and fun and “awww look at him go” but then he suddenly was doing the best dances of the night by a mile. Sola Quote best foxtrot of the season. Beautiful performance! Wally Quote "Ain't That a Kick in the Head?" is like my always go-to perfect Foxtrot song, so Hélio & Julianne already won with that alone. This was such a smooth, classy and stunning Foxtrot from them. I will admit, this isn't a routine I remember super well from Hélio but I was impressed with it after watching it all these years later. I loved the partnering work, the lines he showcased and the side by side dancing at the big breakdown part of the song. I also loved that cute little head bopping moment they did. I do strongly believe that this was Hélio's second best ballroom dance. 3. Sabrina Bryan & Mark Ballas - "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" (Paso Doble) 6.75/20 Watch Here @Alex95 - 2/20 @*Wallace - 2/20 @*Lily - 3/20 @*Diana - 3/20 @Solaris - 5/20 @taylorkat - 10/20 @*Chris - 12/20 @FrogLenzen - 17/2 Alex Quote S5 was the season of Paso Doble's. I already talked about finding Helio's extremely underrated. And of course there's another iconic Paso Doble we haven't talked about yet. And then there's Sabrina. This was one of those times I glad Sabrina doesn't know how to hold back when performing. For such a tiny girl, she made this dance so huge. Everything was pushed to the extreme. She just dominated the dance floor like she belongs there and delivered her best dance of the season, and one of her best dances ever. Wally Quote Sabrina & Mark got the first perfect score of the season with their Paso Doble. And honestly? It was so deserved. This dance is FIERCE personified! Right from the opening where Mark drags Sabrina across the floor, you can tell this will be good. Sabrina was so sharp and hit her moves with so much attack - but she also had some nice exaggerated Spanish lines throughout. The partnering dancing was so strong and sharp. All of the spins were so fast and so crazy good! Mark had a lot of shining moments here but Sabrina still shone throughout the dance. This dance was just so powerful and so good! It's insane and so wrong how she got robbed 2 weeks later but thank you Sabrina for this dance! Lily Quote Sabrina delivering a dance to this standard in just the fourth week was unbelievable. It had all the right workings of speed and power, but also amazing technique. I think it deserved all the high praise and scores that it got! Sola Quote fierce and fiery, everything we know Sabrina to be. Derek Quote What the hell is this song lol. I think the online versions of this are not good with the video quality and the sound delay. But all in all, very competent but seemed frantic and her thumbs drove me crazy lol. 2. Hélio Castroneves & Julianne Hough - "Hey Pachuco" (Quickstep) 3.38/20 Watch Here @Solaris - 1/20 @*Diana - 1/20 @*Chris - 1/20 @FrogLenzen - 2/20 @Alex95 - 4/20 @*Wallace - 4/20 @*Lily - 5/20 @taylorkat - 9/20 Sola Quote I mean it really is the dance of the season. Iconic. One of the best quicksteps of all time. Derek Quote ICONIQUE. The perfect dance style for him. A home run for this couple and for this show’s legacy Alex Quote There's a reason why like 20 seasons later and this dance is still being featured on the show. It's just the epitome of iconic. This was the perfect character for Helio and the perfect dance for him. Wally Quote The "Hey Pachuco" Quickstep from is definitely one of the most iconic dances ever on DWTS! I mean, the amount of times this dance has been re-interpretated on special theme episodes speaks for itself. But yeah this was such a fun, entertaining and epic dance. Hélio showcased a lot of fun and infectious and joyous personality performing this dance. Julianne crafted one of the best and most entertaining Quicksteps ever. This dance might have even been the dance to make me appreciate the Quickstep? Julianne also did not go easy on Hélio on the content. There was a lot of fast paced Quickstep content - in which Hélio provided a great frame in hold and great fast footwork! Ooh and that ending was so crazy, especially the first time seeing this - it was just SO unexpected. But this is a slayage dance. I struggled on where to rank this, as I did with all of the dances in my Top 6. Lily Quote An excellent performance from Helio and Julianne, filled with great technique, exciting moments and also Helio's infectious personality taking over the routine. Without a doubt, their defining moment from the show. 1. Mel B & Maks Chmerkovskiy - "Free Your Mind" (Paso Doble) 2.25/20 Watch Here @Alex95 - 1/20 @taylorkat - 1/20 @*Wallace - 1/20 @FrogLenzen - 1/20 @Solaris - 2/20 @*Diana - 2/20 @*Lily - 4/20 @*Chris - 6/20 Alex Quote One of those rare dances in DWTS history where literally everything comes together to create magic. The choreography, the costuming, the music, the dancers, the energy, the stage presence. There's a lot of 10-worthy dances where maybe the song sucks or there's a mistake or the costumes are trash. From the second she walks down those stairs like she owns the stage, I knew we were in for something special. Every minuscule aspect of this dance is absolute perfection and deserves to stay in the conversation of one of the best dances ever. Wally Quote Mel & Maks' Paso Doble was absolutely everything! I really loved the song choice and how back then... it was such an innovative and untraditional Paso Doble song. You wouldn't think it would work on paper, maybe. But boy, did Mel and Maks make this work! Maks' choreography here was sooo good, creative and at an all time high here (though that's the case with all his choreo this season). THAT walking intro from Mel has and will always live in my mind! Most fire intro ever! I loved Mel's high kicks right before she got into dancing hold with Maks. Then all of their in-hold Paso dancing - was soooo sharp, so exaggerated and fantastic to watch. All of the side by side dancing was equally as good and impressive. I loved other little moments - like where they were tip top running on the instrumental part and then the part where they put one of their legs up and did a wiggle move with it. Also Mel had so much fire, passion and intensity in this dance! We have had many other "Free Your Mind" Pasos after this and while all of those were fairly good (from what I can remember), NONE of them compares to this dance. This Mel & Maks Paso Doble always stood out as my favorite dance of Season 5 and it still tolds that honor to this date! Derek Quote Until like, Nicole I guess, this was THEE dwts routine for me. 1000 points to the costume department and whoever put that eye shadow on her Sola Quote The Probable winner? One of the two most iconic dances of the season. Lily Quote Obvious winner? Idk I almost feel guilty ranking it #4. Undeniably, an iconic moment! Mel absolutely killed it with this routine. It was fierce, exciting, full of great shaping and Paso content.
Alex95 Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 Preparing for S6, how does everyone feel about the group cha-cha in the finale? If you don't remember, they're all dancing to the same song in a row with no breaks. They're out there for like a minute and a half each on their own so that's like the length of a normal dance anyways. Then they were all out there together at the same time for like 5-10 seconds at the end of the dance. Should it be a group dance where they're all cut or saved together? Or should they each be separated individually since like 95% of the dance is individual?
FrogLenzen Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Perfect top 2! Honestly would have been fine with either for the win. for the finale cha cha I vote for splitting by individuals
*Wallace Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 From the #10 to #6 set: - Ugh Mel's Samba was so robbed. i wished that dance made it to the Top 5. I'm happy with where her other routines ranked though. - Also very pleased that Jennie's Cha-Cha madeit to 7th as i feared that could have missed the Top 10. From the #5 to #1 set: - I'm pretty content with how the rankings went here. I guess I don't love Sabrina's Cha Cha or Hélio's Foxtrot as much as most but I still think those are great dances. - The Top 3 is fantastic and probably are the 3 most iconic dances of the season. And the winner is perfection!

Alex95 Posted December 5, 2024 Author Posted December 5, 2024 I'm gonna be pretty busy the next few days so I'm gonna delay starting S6 till some time next week. Feel free to rewatch some S6 dances of continue to celebrate Mel's Paso victory!
