Walker Hayes has been around awhile....in the past few years, he's released a couple of songs that made the charts.  He's 41.  You Broke Up with Me was his first charting single I think.  His music has been controversial because it's basically not country...and (IMO) mostly dumb.

Walker Hayes has been around awhile. "You Broke Up With Me" was a Top 10 hit on country radio back in 2017. His current single "Fancy Like" blew up from TikTok where he was singing & dancing with his family. It has consistently been in the Top 10 on iTunes all-genre charts for many months. His sales/streaming has been very good for the song & it's been consistent which IMO has led to a fast climb up the charts. It also led to a sponsorship & nationwide commercial featuring the song from Applebee's (the song mentions the company). Also, it led to a collaboration with pop artist Ke$ha who's most famous song is named "Tik Tok" so it makes sense to use an artist who's most famous song is named after the main reason why Walker's song blew up. IMO he's always been country pop/rap similar to Sam Hunt.

Several songs currently in the Top 25 have blown up due to TikTok such as singles from Walker Hayes, Elvie Shane, Priscilla Block, etc. Priscilla actually got a record deal due to her song blowing up on TikTok & it's actually a more frequent occurrence to get a record deal from TikTok. It makes sense. If a song is getting buzz, streams, & sales a record label will usually take notice. TikTok is a good way to get more buzz & the main audience for it usually does lead to more buzz, streams, etc. for artists. You don't have to dance (popular misconception) either to gain a lot of followers & buzz. George Strait has a million+ followers & many times he just interacts with fans such as singing, asking questions to fans, etc. George is one of about 5 country artists who consistently are on all-genre streaming charts. The other 4 artists are current country pop such as Luke Bryan, Kane Brown, etc.

IF Scotty had a #1 celebration he didn't share it.  Maybe just a quiet one.

There appears to have been a small gathering of friends  at his house when he got home to Raleigh after the Utah show  ..not sure if they were celebrating the #1 or the fact that Wolfpack beat Clemson -College football 😍. Scotty & Gabi are at the beach-house.....where he  still  appears to be inundated with  requests for interviews/podcasts based on whats being posted on Twitter/instagram etc over last few days.😍

Scotty McCreery Earns Fourth Consecutive No. 1 With ‘You Time’

Scotty McCreery has racked up his fourth consecutive No. 1 with his latest single “You Time,” the lead single from his fifth studio album Same Truck which earned the top country album debut this week.

Co-written with producers Frank Rogers and Aaron Eshuis, “You Time” follows McCreery’s three back-to-back No. 1s from the RIAA Gold-certified Seasons Change: the double Platinum “Five More Minutes,” Platinum-certified “This is It,” and Gold-certified “In Between.”

“This song, like so many of my songs, was inspired by my wife Gabi as well as my desire to spend more time with her in the midst of our busy careers,” says McCreery. “Thanks to country radio, my co-writers Frank and Aaron, to the Triple Tigers Records promotion team and Triple 8 Management, and as always, to my fans. I have missed you during this past year while the world did stop spinning, and I’m glad to be back out on the road to see you.”

“With the last 17 weeks in a row of triple digit spin growth at radio, ‘You Time’ has been a solid hit all the way up the chart,” adds Kevin Herring, SVP of Promotion for Triple Tigers Records.

McCreery co-wrote 10 of the 12 tracks on Same Truck, which finds him reflecting on the last decade of his career and life. The next single from the album, “Damn Strait,” penned by Trent Tomlinson and Jim Collins, is one of the few outside cuts on the project.
