Misirlou
Choose artists that you loved in the blinds or first rounds to the point of becoming a favorite of yours, and that later you couldn´t stand at all. And vice versa, artists you hated at the beginning, but grew on you over the course of the show, perhaps to the point of supporting them. (Obviously artists that you liked or disliked throughout their entire run don´t count) LIKED TO DISLIKED Jej Vinson (S16) JChosen (S12) Dave Fenley (S15) Kirk Jay (S15) Gyth Rigdon (S16) Cali Wilson (S17) Christiana Danielle (S14) Marybeth Byrd (S17) Shane Q (S17) Selkii (S16) Jacob Maxwell (S16) Celia Babini (S16) Davon Fleming (S13) DISLIKED TO LIKED Sundance Head (S11) Carter Lloyd Horne (S16) Shawn Sounds (S16) Kaleb Lee (S14) Kyla Jade (S14) Vanessa Ferguson (S12) D.R King (S14) Damien (S7) Chris Jamison (S7)

Daillon
Liked to Disliked Mary Sarah’s blind was fantastic, so the fact that she followed it with a very mediocre run on the show made me dislike her more than some of the others. Most of S14’s cast, specially Brynn, Spensha and Christiana (I love her tone enough to enjoy her performances, but they were very bad vocally). I personally love Darby and Celia’s blinds, but I loathed most of their other performances. Disliked to Liked I didn’t care for Chris Jamison’s taped rounds, and I was outraged when Adam saved him over Taylor Phelan, but his live performances were phenomenal (Jealous, WIWYM, Cry Me A River...) so in the end he ended up becoming one of my favorite contestants ever. Same case with Kennedy Holmes (her blind is fantastic tho).
QueenMae16
Artists that slayed at first but flopped later: India Carney - Like sis I loved your audition, but the trajectory for her was downhill. "Hurt" was a good indicator that she was not going to be a genuine live performer. "Take Me To Church" was a mess lol. Even with great song choices later, she just flopped and I cringed. She wasn't bad 100% but nothing was there for me to connect to or even say it was "beyond average" India's performances were just.... there. Jackie Foster - Sis you had the best battle of the season and a good audition tbh. But then "Bring Me To Life" happened and you started your downhill from there. "Alone" was good, but nothing extraordinary, then Top 12 - Top 11 Performances. "Gravity"(Top 10) was a MAGNIFICENT recovery, but then "Here I Go Again" happened..... She dug her own grave, RIP. Joanna Serenko - Okay girl I'm sorry, you are a fantastic vocalist, but the song choices like..... I don't blame her for "When The Party's Over" in fact I loved it, and it was superb. But then "Rich Girl" and "Lean On Me" were just no.... Although wasn't a bad run, just could have been WAY better. Artists I hated but grew into true artists and even great vocalists: Kyla Jade - Okay please don't hate, I love Kyla and didn't really hate her. But I thought she was just gonna be another powerhouse who would use basic belting vocals from her Audition round. And with Blake I thought she was gonna steal unique artists' spots at least til the Top 8. She proved me wrong once "You Don't Own Me" happened, and I grew to love her as she knew when to suppress herself and show her emotions. "This Is Me" was a revelation and the moment I knew she would go into the finale as long as she kept that kind of performance level up in the next round. "Let It Be" was the winning performance, Kyla won right there, the Top 4 never happened, she won lmao. Rose Short - Pretty much same with Kyla, and besides her KO, before the Top 11 I wasn't convinced that she was finale ready. But oh my "God's Country" happened, and she shut me up lmao. She slayed all the coaches her season though, if only she performed a song of Kelly's and slay her too lol. Everyone else that is garbage like Gyth/Adam Wakefield/Swon Brothers/Red Marlow, can stay in the trash cause they just got worst LOL. But anyways also lets mention the artist that had no flaw: Maelyn Jarmon - Queen, perfection, flawless, can do no wrong in her vocal. Robbed of having fewer live performances than S15 or S17, darn you Ellen Games. Edited August 20, 2020 by QueenMae16
thevoiceswimmer
ooooooooo I love the idea of this! Upward Trajectory- Rod Stokes (I liked GYTH of all people more than him going into the battles, but after he was served at the alter by Adam to Maelyn, yet still killed it he quickly became my favorite country guy of S16, come Semi Finals I wanted a Rod/Maelyn Final 2) Andrew Sevner (Least favorite contestant on Team Blake going into battles, but week after week proved to be one of the much better country guys of the season!) Franc West (I thought he was a waste of a chair based on his blind, but he really did show up each round and give better and better performances and I ended really liking him) Kim Cherry (When she was leaked as the Sneak Peek for S16, i was like dear lord what have we gotten ourselves into. While I didn't love her in the end i just think literally performance after her blind was miles better especially Here) Lisa Ramey (I thought her blind was so boring, just a string of belts with no meaning behind them, but when she sang in The Joke....... wow one of my fave battles to this day. In the end I wanted her to take John's last spot over Celia def and maybe even Shawn which is unpopular I know) Chris Jamison (I thought he was just kinda bland, I wanted Adam to save Mia > Taylor P > Chris but he really did step it up and his originals is easily one of the best to come from the show) Jackie Verna (At the time, I thought her blind was so weird because it almost felt like she had two voices she sang with, but each song after that I slowly fell in love till she ended up being my second favorite of the whole season!) Downward- Mary Sarah (girl I mean come on. Her blind was one of the best ever, so clear and spot on and while I wouldn't say anything was AWFUL per say just she never even got close to her blind) Celia Babini (Every season i make my ideal top 12 and I had her as my 3rd fave of the season, shameful I know, and I actually still liked her battle, but her lives man were rough! If Celia from the blinds had stuck around I would still be a fan, and i don't hate her, she just lost all my admiration Korin Bukowski (So Korin is actually the reason I ever started watching The Voice, i was auditioning for a local version of the Color Purple and I really wanted to show my voice on an unexpected song bc we had to sing a new song and one from the show and I liked Cecelia and the Satellite covers and I watched Korin's and I've loved the show since. and All I Want is to this day one of my fave covers on the show period. but her lives were awful which pains me to say) Edited August 23, 2020 by thevoiceswimmer

TeamAudra
I see Mary Sarah’s name brought up a couple times. I won’t disagree, but I’ll just say I watched her perform live for 90 minutes, and didn’t hear any missed notes, or power shortages. It really made me wonder about the challenges of broadcasting live audio, and/or possible bussing by turning down the volume on the mic. Her main issue was that her voice didn’t project well during the live shows. That was not the case at all when I saw her live. She was very good. Teraginn
OT, but there's a simple reason why otherwise great vocalists seem to stumble on the Voice live shows. Have you seen how huge and cavernous the Voice sound stage is? Add to that Bandzilla and the screaming audience, and it's no wonder singers struggle to hear themselves in there, even with in-ear monitors. Sometimes in-ears can even be a hindrance, since they have to be turned up to drown the noise out. I remember Michelle Chamuel having to remove hers during a performance to hear herself better. And that was on a very mellow song. I believe The Voice moved to a new soundstage this season, so hopefully that will improve the sound quality in the live shows somehow. Oh, and the lack of an audience too, I suppose. Edited August 20, 2020 by mjdolorico

Gustavo527
Liked to disliked: -Audra Mclaughlin: I LOVED her Blind, her first battle was good i guess, but in her second battle she oversang A LOT, then she has a really good Playoff performance but went downhill in the lives, man, her performance of "Forgive" was a mess, she dug her grave there. -Taylor Phelan: his Blind was just so amazing that everything after that just felt underwhelming -Reagan James: Huge dissapointment, i loved her first four performances, but god, she flopped HARD in the lives, and ended having one of the worst instant save performances of all time -India Carney: Exactly the same reasons QueenMae16 already stated -Korin Bukowski: i loved her performances in the pre-recorded rounds, but her journey during lives was a mess (i blame Gwen for that, sorry, she was a terrible coach to her) -Owen Danoff: his Blind audition and knockout were his best, i didn't cared for his live performances (Emily deserved to win that instant Save) -We McDonald: I never disliked her, but i was just dissapointed that after having a fantastic audition, destroying her opponent in the battle and having a killer knockout (destroying her opponent in that one too) she just happened to had bad song choice after bad song choice, it was just extremely frustating. Fortunately, she somehow redeemed herself with her final performance, that was AMAZING. -Brooke Simpson: Okay, some people are gonna hate me for this, but i have to say, unlike all the others i listed, she was never bad, she never had a bad performance, it's just that, i was so obsessed with her audition, but after that she simply didn't grown on me, not because she was bad at any point, (she killed all her performances), it's just that at some point, i decided to support more unique artists like Chloe and especially Addison, and she just flew out of my radar. - Kirk Jay: same with We McDonald, the difference between him and We is that people called out We A LOT for her bad song choices, but kept praising Kirk all the season even though his live performances were all very pitchy, at least, for my taste -Reagan Strange: Huge dissapointment just like the other Reagan, and god, what happened in the Top 10 Instant Save of that season is just unforgivable, she took a place in the Top 8 that was not hers at all, just to ended having one of the worst instant saves along with Reagan James. (Both Reagans ended being huge let downs) -Jej Vinson: it's just sad that he never topped his audition and battle, his performances in the lives were all so generic, it hurts. -Kat Hammock: i liked her blind and battle, but her performances in the lives were all flat and boring, she never showed any diversity of any type. -Marybeth Byrd: Potential winner, she even had a brilliant Top 10 performance (it's a shame that the public didn't think the same) but her performance in the Semis was a joke, a very bad one btw -Joanna Serenko: brilliant audition and battle, but her other performances were a snooze fest for me -Allegra Miles: her performances of Overjoyed was nothing special, at least not compared to her other performances. I'll post the "Disliked to liked" list later

Her blind was terrific, but yeah, she never reached that level again. The sound system and perhaps nerves might have had something to do with it, but I also saw a lot of complaints during her season that said that the backing vocalists were doing most of the work for her in her live performances, so that might have had something to do as well with her decreasing support. I don’t know about that. All I can tell you is what I observed and heard sitting about 30’ away at an outdoor amphitheater. I supported her throughout the season, and was surprised how good she sounded in person. If I thought she sucked, I wouldn’t even bring it up. It was like night and day.
