I hate to be a Debbie Downer but I'm a bit salty that they promoted yet another non-ballroom pro. :ph34rwave: I haven't kept up with Britt but I do like her a lot and want her to do well so I hope she's been training hard. I know we'll probably never get another Karina but I also don't want another Allison.

Happy that Sharna is back. Yes, she has said some dumb stuff in the past but we all have so that's not nearly enough for me to cancel her. I'm always happy to see veteran pros come back *coughnotMaksthoughcough*

From what @*Lily has said, Britt was training hard while she was in the troupe. Plus Lindsay and Witney aren’t able to return, so they needed to bring someone in. :haha:

re: Sharna, I can look over most of the questionable stuff she’s said. But once she started victim blaming in the Nick Carter controversy and never actually apologized, I couldn’t stand her anymore.

Just been through P*re and there are only 12 comments in response to the pro reveal. Usually way more. Also nothing from the two regular mods. Whilst it may arguably a good thing that their site is dead, I wonder if the low number of people commenting may reflect the level of interest among the general demographic for this season. Bare in mind that the average person watching is older and leans conservative. Replacing Tom with Tyra probably won't go that well with them. Will be very interested to see what the ratings will be.

Flushing out most of the voters? Sounds like a good thing, tbh. 😍

rumours in bachnation that tyler c (from hannah b's season) may be on this upcoming season of DWTS. i hope it's not true because despite once proclaiming i'd die for tyler c, he has been a total f*ckboi during covid times even throwing parties...in florida.

I don’t think I buy it mostly because I’m not sure if I see them putting two Bachelor Nation people on the same season. For selfish reasons I wouldn’t be mad to see him, but I didn’t know about the COVID stuff so that’s very disappointing :/

I can kinda see it honestly. Strictly does it each year (although not in circumstances like this, they’re likely downsizing) and it’s worked fairly well. Plus they might have found it easier to book some people they really wanted just because people need a gig :haha: I wouldn’t be surprised if they reached out to a lot of people expecting difficulties because of the pandemic, but then ended up getting more yeses than they were banking on.

I’m definitely not going into this season with anything other than low standards, honestly. :dead: Tyra’s doing a lot of talk about how this season will be unique and different which could either be good because the show needs a shake-up, or horrible because it just strays way too far from what people want. :haha: Even if it’s a large cast, I’m honestly very impressed with this pro roster still, so I’m going to keep an open mind and hope this season surprises us!

Also on an optimistic note, I think DWTS having a larger cast can work better now the show’s on once a year. I think part of the reason it felt too excessive in Season 9 was probably because the seasons were so non-stop. I think that’s helped it work so well with Strictly, because it’s never felt too over-saturated.

Last time they had such a large cast, it was a mess though. LOL. DWTS doesn’t know how to handle this many couples the way Strictly does. :haha:

As long as they actually do eliminations, they’ll be fine. But this is DWTS so my standards are low.

I don't buy it either. Mostly people are just like "Tyler C is going to LA! DWTS?!??!!?"

Which. That man should stay in Florida. And like lay low for months.

Artem's addition to the cast has once again prompted the "Hayley was treated so badly by DWTS" crowd on Twitter. UGH.

Of the other returning pros - Artem & Sharna are lifelong ballroom/latin dancers while Britt has at least done some competing/teaching. Why is Hayley deserving of a pro spot? Some were saying that either Cheryl or Peta should give up their pro spots but I highly doubt Hayley as a contemporary dancer with a crash course in ballroom would have any chance of winning the show twice. Why bench people that have won and know how to get the best out of celebs for a newbie that hasn't even been learning ballroom for a decade, never mind competing, choreographing or teaching it?

Rant over.

Hayley’s cult of fans are next-level delusional if they think she’s more deserving and qualified than two two-time champions, one of whom took a deaf person and made him a good enough dancer to win.  Hayley probably wouldn’t even be where she is if she wasn’t dating Derek, everything she does in her career involves Derek.  Someone on Twitter said she was robbed of an Emmy nomination for that Disney dance thing she did with Derek and Julianne.  Given her struggle choreographing for Juniors, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Houghs were more responsible for that choreography.

They absolutely did that choreo - no way that someone should get an Emmy nom if they (likely) didn't contribute much to it and just danced as part of it.

Whilst we've probably seen most of what Cheryl & Peta have to offer (and on a personality note, Peta's anti-vax views don't do her any favours), they sure as hell are much better pros for a celeb than Hayley - both have 2 wins and can do well with a challenge like Nyle, Tommy, Ryan, Rob K etc. And of course, Cheryl survived Tom DeLay (🤢) and Peta survived Lamar so that also goes in their favour (both of them would be partners from hell for entirely different reasons). I'd have been interested to have seen what Hayley would have done with any of those celebrities. In a fantasy cast I created once, I did make Hayley a pro and gave her James Charles - I can imagine that would have been a right trainwreck! 😆

Britt talks about what it means for her being a Black female pro on the show:

https://www.eonline.com/amp/news/1181015/dancing-with-the-stars-britt-stewart-is-honored-to-be-the-first-black-female-pro

"I do not take that I am the first Black female pro lightly," she said. "I am extremely honored, and I honestly get really emotional talking about it every time, because I think there's a lot of power in representation and seeing someone that looks like yourself in a specific position. It gives all little Black girls, or all little girls that feel like they don't have that representation something to look at and something to reach for, and I'm so honored that Dancing With the Stars celebrates diversity, and this is just really a stepping stone to really express everything and bring light to the world and to television."

I do love Hayley and wouldn't mind her being a Pro at some point. I just wouldn't want it too much as she isn't naturally ballroom/Latin dancer and I don't want her to get trashed about it like past Contemporary and Jazz dancers. I just hope Britt doesn't get that treatment  even if her choreography and teaching isn't the best off the start. But I am hopeful for her. ❤️

Also a beautiful quote there for Britt. So happy for her to have such a big honor.
