sydneysam
MENTORS COMMENTARIES AND SCORES QueenMae - Omg, you both just gave me all the tears, seriously this was so emotional. Alex where did that head voice come from and I could tell you were mixing it in your falsetto too, that was near-flawless vocal work! and Sierra, girl you know I love you and your voice, its just a package of connection, precision, and perfect hits in all the right pitches. Like you two know how to give off an emotive vocal. I admit to you that it wasn't perfect, I heard some strainage a few moments there cause it got emotional for you, but that's okay. And really I would love to see you progress, great work to you both! SCORE: 4.6/5 americanvoice - *standing ovation* This was just a really good performance A&S! I love how right your emotions are while singing tonight, this was such an emotionally hard song, as it can literally mess up your vocals if you let the emotions of the song take over you, but you have control tonight. I love how controlled yet vulnerable your performance is, though I think this was not your best, this still was one of your good performances.SCORE: 3.0/5 A-Kid - What an emotional performance you two. I really love this song, makes me cry every single time I hear it, it was just so painful, and I know how it feels to lose someone you love. Although their are some strains at your voice at some point, I really love this performance, and your usual connection, I was looking for more emotional connection to the both of you to your song though. But nevertheless, I really love your group, so consistent as always!SCORE: 2.5/5jarmon - *stands and claps and smiles proud* Wow! You guys are just something special! This was such a beautiful showcase of your voices and it was such a delicate and immaculate performance. Everything was time so perfectly and you guys truly told a story in this performance and I AM HERE FOR IT! I did feel that you were holding back a little Sierra as I felt the power was missing from your voice when you were doing those higher notes. But overall a great performance!SCORE: 3.0/5 IAN27TAY - *standing ovation* WHOO Alex and Sierra, I'm super proud of you guys, you have all what it takes to be a superstar, such a perfect couple. Both of you have a great voice and can sing together, I love the song choice and both of you did justice to it. Overall, this is one of my favorite performances of yours, thank you! sydneysam
Next to perform for tonight is the last artist in this batch that came from The Underdogs category. She had her ups and downs during the Live Shows, but she survived it after singing a Bette Midler song and garnering one of the highest votes last time. Tonight, she will sing a Beyoncé hit and will try to make the song her own. 5. Kennedy Holmes - Song: Runnin' (Beyoncé) Edited August 13, 2020 by anonymouskid_35
sydneysam
MENTORS COMMENTARIES AND SCORES IAN27TAY - *claps* Kennedy, girl I just love your vocals, but I think you struggled a bit in the start, but that's really fine 'cause you did great after the first part. Having great control over your voice and performing at the same time is very rare, and the depiction of the story through your singing was way too great. Overall I hust love that you did a great job without hitting super high notes.SCORE: 3.9/5 QueenMae - This Kennedy, this is one of those songs, the emotional connection, the clear and crisp notes. This is what is made for you, Kennedy you know I am hard on you, but you just proved me on why you can succeed in this competition. I think after this performance, you are really coming after the other artists, I think there is more for you to do too, so just great job Kennedy and good luck! SCORE: 4.7/5 A-Kid - *standing ovation* I'm a sucker for creativeness from artists like you. I've heard this song slowed down before, but I was not expecting for it to be really intimate, I did not even understood the message of the song until you sang that way tonight! I was waiting for a climax though, or something where it will take off, but your emotional connection and interpretation just really captured my heart, I have felt every word that you sang. This is one of your best performances so far. Underdogs are pretty good tonight huh.SCORE: 3.0/5 jarmon - *stands and claps* Definitely an improvement from your previous performances and that's because you stopped trying to be a pop singer and instead focused on these ballads that are much more suited for your voice. This was a good vocal showcase but I have to be honest, it was a very clean and safe performance in my opinion. Like I was just waiting for that magical moment per se to come and unfortunately it didn't. But that said, an impressive performance and a step in the right direction for me.SCORE: 3.0/5 americanvoice - *standing ovation and tears up* Kennedy, that was such an emotional performance, I've really connected with you from the beginning up until the end, I love how you stripped down the song, the message came out rushing with so much emotions. I also love how painful your performance is, it really translated into me, as one your audience. You definitely showed a different Kennedy tonight, and darling, I'm here for it. sydneysam
Next performance for tonight is an artist from The Girls category. She impressed many after singing a huge and difficult Mariah Carey song, earning one of the top 3 spots in her category after receiving one of the highest votes that night. Tonight, she will sing yet another big song, this time by Christina Aguilera. 6. MaKenzie Thomas - Song: Hurt (Christina Aguilera) Edited August 13, 2020 by anonymouskid_35
sydneysam
MENTORS COMMENTARIES AND SCORES IAN27TAY - Stands and Claps* This performance is super good. You are really a fantastic singer with powerful vocals. I love that you are really confident on performing. The song choice is great, Overall I think you did a very well job to be safe in the bottom 2. SCORE: 4.2/5 americanvoice - MaKenzie what a vocal masterclass of a performance tonight! I love that power you showed to us tonight. I also love this song, as it have a really good message. Doing a Christina is really not easy, as you need to have that power like Christina has or you'll flop, luckily for you, you all have that power in your voice tonight. One thing I'm missing though is the emotional connection to the song, I was looking for more vulnerability in your face or voice maybe? But you really did a great job.SCORE: 2.2/5 A-Kid - MaKenzie, as usual, this was another vocally almost flawless performance, I love that I heard different tone of your voice tonight, a much thicker one. But, I feel like my problem with Angie is the same as yours tonight, both of your performances were perfect technically, but emotionally? I really am missing your connection to the song, Hurt is like a really heartbreaking song to sing, but I felt like you focused too much on the technical aspect, I really want you to show more emotions next time. SCORE: 1.8/5 jarmon - *stands and claps and smiles* OKAY MAKENZIE CAN YOU STOP SLAYING PLEASE???! This was yet another amazing performance from you. You honestly have been one of the most consistent contestants this season. This was a really nice performance and a bold song choice but you did it justice. I really have no complaints with you, amazing as always MaKenzie!SCORE: 4.2/5 QueenMae - My girl Makenzie, my oh my, you are just such an agile and emotional performer, but can go after those big power-ballads. I'm so glad we went after this song choice, cause we were back and forth on this and other songs, but you really made this song your own and came after everyone's wigs! I can't give you a rating as you are my own artist, but I have to say the runs, the power, and just soul, was finale worthy I'd say! Well done Makenzie, I hope we do continue to work together, cause you are just so amazing! Edited August 13, 2020 by anonymouskid_35
sydneysam
Seventh to perform for tonight is an artist from The Boys category. He sang a Nickelback song last time, and had garnered one of the highest votes for his category, deeming him safe from the competition. Tonight he will sing a Mariah Carey classic and will try to make the song his own. 7. sydneysam
MENTORS COMMENTARIES AND SCORESIAN27TAY - *stands and claps* Mo, you are only the 1 male who perform tonight, excluding Alex because he is in a group, but you know what? You showed to us that you can still match the female contestants tonight, you know what I meant right? You really stood out and you really slayed this Diva song. Overall, I think I could see it in your eyes, how much you were feeling the song. Thank you!SCORE: 4.3/5 QueenMae - Mo we know you are an emotional performer and I just have to say, I don't think this was the choice for you to really showcase your vocal. I think it was too weak to portray any message on anything in your soulful and raspy tone. I get the stripped down version and how you tried to make it yours, but it just fell flat to really convey any emotional messages. I just have to say good luck though and hopefully you can progress from here.SCORE: 2.8/5 americanvoice - *standing ovation* MO?! That came out of nowwhere, you came out swingin' hard tonight, that was a really good performance! You see, I was on and off about you, but you really are redeeming yourself slowly. I've never in a whole wide world imagine that an upbeat fun song by Mariah Carey would be sung on that way, you ROCKED it out! I love that take off in your performance, it was just almost flawless.SCORE: 4.5/5 jarmon - *standing ovation and hops aboard the Mo train* OKAY MO! You FINALLY DID IT! You got me to finally love one of your performances and be a fan of you. I love it when artists reinvent a classic song and make their own. What I love most about this, is that you kept the true essence of the song the same and just changed it up a little to make it a Mo version. That is true artistry and I loved this performance throughout. Without a doubt, your best performance of the season for me. SCORE: 4.5/5 A-Kid - *standing ovation* As I've said before, I am a sucker for the creativeness of the artists, and you just showed so much tonight, Mo! I would have never imagined ABMB sang that way, you rocked the stage tonight! I really love everything about that performance. I also love your take off, it was just so good. Your best performance so far along with Unsteady. There is a note though at the near end that was too prolonged, but other than that? This was so far the best tonight, no favoritism intended though. sydneysam
Closing out the night is an artist from The Over 25's category. She sang a Whitesnake classic last week and landed in the Sing-Off with Kymberli Joye after the both of them received the lowest votes for their category that week. But, she regained herself and earned the mentors' votes and had beaten Kymberli to move forward on this competition. Tonight, she will sing one of the hits of one of the all-time soulful diva, Aretha Franklin. 8. Amanda Brown - Song: Natural Woman (Aretha Franklin) Edited August 13, 2020 by anonymouskid_35
sydneysam
MENTORS COMMENTARIES AND SCORESIAN27TAY - *standing ovation* Amanda, wow I think this song choice is done by many contestants but you really did a great job, some parts are a bit screamyz but you really did a great job singing this song, and it's unique. Overall, I think you may be in the middle of all who perform today.SCORE: 4.2/5QueenMae - Amanda get that vocal girl! I loved the rasp near the end as well, it also seemed like you were just enjoying yourself on the stage, this was an amazing performance and powerful emotional connection to the audience! Darn, not sure what else to say, but well done and I'm rooting for you sis!SCORE: 4.8/5 americanvoice - *standing ovation* That performance was nasty Amanda! I love how you went down dirty tonight, what a way to end this show tonight. You just showed us why you deserved to be in this competition, and how badly you want to stay in it. While I think I did not liked your performance last time, I really love this performance, it was downright soulful and have so much grit and passion with it.SCORE: 3.5/5 A-Kid - *standing ovation* Amanda you go girl! I really love that performance, you just showed to us why you deserve to move forward in this competition, and why you were here at first place. I did not know that you have so much soulfulness in you, we've seen you rock the stage with your rock songs, but never with this very soulful song. There might be some scream-ish moments, but it just made the performance more appealing, atleast for me. This was the best of the night for me excluding my boy. SCORE: 3.5/5 jarmon - *STANDING OVATION THROWING SHOES AND CLAPPING LIKE CRAZY* THAT IS MY GIRL!!! GET IT AMANDA! SERVE THEM VOCALS!!! Honestly, imma make your comment nice and short, PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT, QUEEN! Edited August 13, 2020 by anonymouskid_35

Bk1234
My Quick Opinions: Delivering emotions was a key focus in tonight’s critiques. Judges went back and forth saying they connected to X contestant and not to Y contestant. When you really get down to it, it just comes down to preference. You may connect to one contestant because of something that someone else just didn’t get or understand. Anyway, stand-outs for me would definitely be Angie Miller, Mo Aderinan, and MaKenzie Thomas.
