Best Live Performances of The Voice

Daillon

Recommended Posts

This season was the first one (and hopefully the last one) to not have live performances, and since the lives were usually my favorite round (as of lately not anymore bc of the decline in talent), I wanted everyone to post their favorite live performances.

My Top 10 would be...

1a. Kimberly Nichole - House of the Rising Sun (iconic)

1b. Amanda Brown - Dream On (never get tired of this one)

3. Alisan Porter - Let Him Fly (some country fans might kill me, but I find this even better than the original)

4. Jordan Smith - Somebody to Love (duh)

5. Koryn Hawthorne - Make It Rain (probably the Voice performance I listen to the most)

6. Kimberly Nichole - What's Up (it was awesome, entertaining and emotional all at the same time)

7. Maelyn Jarmon - The Scientist (😭)

8. Tessanne Chin - Redemption Song (underrated af)

9. Amber Carrington - Sad (see #7)

10. Matthew Schuler - Hallelujah (magical)

HM:

Jordan Smith - Mary Did You Know (very underrated)

Alisan Porter - Somewhere

Rose Short - IWTKWLI

Addison Agen - Tennessee Rain

Matt McAndrew - The Blower's Daughter

Chris Jamison - Cry Me A River & When I Was Your Man

Matthew Schuler - Wrecking Ball

Maelyn Jarmon - Mad World

Juliet Simms - Roxanne

Josh Kaufman - Stay With Me

Amber Carrington - Skyfall

Jacquie Lee - IPASOY & Love Is Blindness

Best Live Performances (for me)

1. Kimberly Nichole (House of the Rising Sun)- man, for me this is the best live show performance ever on the voice. The grittiness, the stage presence, the range, and many more other things makes me throw anything I can see to our tv 😂

1.5. Amanda Brown (Dream On)- this was like my first ever performance that I have watched in The Voice US, and man it was so good, I totally love Amanda!

2. Brooke Simpson (Faithfully)- y'all I think Brooke is so underrated, but when she performed this man, this just put her into one of my most favorite contestants of all time. Imagine turning a cheeseball song to an amazing and exquisite performance.

2.5. Kennedy Holmes (Confident)- I don't know about y'all but singing and dancing at the same time is hard and Kennedy pulled it of. It is super underrated and for me it is the best TOTAL PERFORMANCE in the show ever.

3. Rose Short (I Want To Know What Love Is)- man this is not as powerful in terms of vocal range to others that hit the notes really high, but her performance is just emotionally powerful. This made me cry.

3. Jordan Smith (Somebody To Love)- No need to explain. He's the best man (for me) that had joined the show.

4. Kymberli Joye (Break Every Chain)- she's also damn super underrated, this performance just brought tears, calmness, and me to church. I totally love it!!

5. Matthew Schuler (Hallelujah)- Duh. He had beaten a lot in the ITunes because of this version of Hallelujah, and sure as hell he deserved it.

6. Maelyn Jarmon (The Scientist/Hallelujah)- she's a queen of uniqueness, even if she's not as powerful and high-voiced as others, the way how she tells a story through singing, sing girl sing!

7. Kimberly Nichole (What's Up/Creep)- What's Up is the performance that putted Kimberly into the frontrunner in that season because it is so good. Her version of Creep also for me is one of the best version I've ever heard of that song.

8. Alisan Porter (Somewhere)- that was legit the best finale performance for me in the first 10 seasons of TVUS.

9. Jacquie Lee (I Put a Spell On You)- maaan, I heard that she have a flu during this performance so it made SOME of her notes iffy but this is sooo good to the point I don't care if it have bum notes or sharps or whatsoever. I love it!

10. MaKenzie Thomas (Because You Loved Me/Vision of Love)- BYLM is her most favorite performance from her so far in the show but then Vision of Love came and that tied it for me. Can't believe Vision of Love eliminated her like whut.

There have been a lot of good ones.  Maelyn's "The Scientist" and "Mad World" as well as Addison's "Tennessee Rain", "Case of You", and " Both Sides Now" are the one I've prolly replayed the most.

Christina Grimmie - "Can't Help Falling In Love" THE performance of the season.

Even though I like "Hold On, We're Going Home" slightly better that's an excellent one too - and I'm still salty she lost out on second to Team Minivan (Jake's country music comeback kid angle, while endearing, did not make up for his messy flops of vocal performance. Bless his heart 🐸☕).

taste! - I wouldn't personally have Katie Kadan here because of music taste but she's undeniably a great singer. the others are amazing!!

Even though I made my HM list, I'll make a top 10 list too -

  1. Amanda Brown - Dream On (Season 3 Playoffs): Y'all. That wail/scream at the end, nailed. The vibes of the song, nailed. The sass and stage presence, nailed. There's a reason it's only been attempted once since then (and Koryn's version, while decent, didn't shake this one bit).
  2. Jordan Smith - Somebody to Love (Season 9 Semifinals): My partner is super-mega-ultra-picky about his music, and even he was impressed by Jordan's version. Even if it hadn't been his season to lose, this absolutely would've locked him into the finale. If TPTB have a lick of common sense, nobody is ever going to even try this song again.
  3. Kimberly Nichole - House of the Rising Sun (Season 8 Top 12): The real reason they pimped Kimberly that week was because they knew nobody was going to be able to top that slayage. #isaidwhatisaid
  4. Rose Short - God's Country (Season 17 Top 10): Giving the diva this country song may've seemed like a bad decision on paper, then Rose started singing and it became clear that there's no mediocrity that primarily does country that will be able to top this anytime soon.
  5. Maelyn Jarmon - The Scientist (Season 16 Top 13): The redeeming factor of Season 16 and the most consistent vocals; see also "The Moment Maelyn Locked Her Spot In The Finale."
  6. Alisan Porter - Stone Cold (Season 10 Top 12): Though Alisan was more country, the song furthest from her general wheelhouse is doubly powerful because of her backstory pairing with the song's message and the chance to showcase her range.
  7. Chris Mann - You Raise Me Up (Season 2 Finale): The man now best known for his COVID-based parodies as well as being in The Phantom of the Opera is also one of the few people that's made Xtina cry happy tears on camera. Also, this cover gives me goosebumps. Enough said.
  8. Jacquie Lee - I Put a Spell on You (Season 5 Playoffs): Jacquie's incredibly powerful as a vocalist and if there was anyone that was going to go after Matthew (then a front-runner and favorite to win) and get the vote, this was it. Double points for not feeling 100% the night of the show and still killing it.
  9. Josh Kaufman - I Can't Make You Love Me (Season 6 Top 8): My favorite Josh performance of the season, and proof that Adam screwed up by picking Delvin in that second battle. It's raspy, soulful, and a little bit wistful in all the right spots.
  10. Matthew Schuler - Hallelujah (Season 5 Top 12): There's a reason this stayed on the charts for so long after the performance happened and why it resurged after Jordan covered it. This version is vocally stunning.

Cody Belew, Melanie Martinez, Nicholas David and Terry McDermott performing "Rhythm of Love" might be the best group performance. It was so simple with them just sitting there and the light from the stage floor providing most of the illumination, sort of like a campfire. And if I remember correctly, the camera moved around but never cut.
