Season 5 is the only season in which all finalists were deserving and had multiple moments during their run on the show.

I picked every one where I liked at least one performance from at least 75% of the contestants - Season 5, 7, 9, 10, 13, and 17 all got votes for that reason (of those finalists the ones I didn't like at least one performance from were CWB and Red).

Best Set of Finalists for me are seasons..

 

5- They are all so damn good, shining in their own different ways. Jacquie was actually one of my faves of all time, I just love her growth on the show. Tessanne oozes a lot of that star quality in her run in the show. Will is uniquely good! They're all so deserving of their spots.

 

13- This set of finalist for me is the most diverse set of finalists, we have rock (Chloe), indie-ish (?) (Addison), diva/belter (Brooke) and that country guy (Red). They're also all deserving of their spots.

 

17- I just loved this because we have 2 queens in the finale, but both were robbed as hell

Season 10 for me. I enjoyed all four of them, and everyone made a case for them to win tbh.

Nuff said. No one can argue that these two seasons' set of finalists were just simply the best and most deserved.

Looking at S17 against all the other Finale lineups...it had such a solid F4 (despite the winner)

You know what would've been good? Season 12 but replace Aliyah with Vanessa and replace Jesse with Hunter

Personally, S5 and S17 (S13 was sooo close but Red was awful. Noah instead of Red would've made this #1).

I didn't care for Will in S5 but he was at least solid while Tessanne and Jacquie were obviously deserving of their finale spots. Season 17 was wildly strong and  Jake had strong moments in the competition, even though he deserved 4th in that finale.

 

I'll show some love for S10 too since they were all good... but Katie & Rose > Alisan & Hannah. Laith was consistently great and Adam was a deserving finalist.

Basically this is my top 4 seasons, depending on who I'm in the mood to rewatch. 

 

I basically adored all of the top 6 in S5 (+ Caroline and Kat), though my dream finale lineup going into the lives would've been Tessanne/Cole/Caroline or Matt; that said, all of the finalists were solid and had my favorite performances of the week at different points throughout the lives (Jacquie + IPASOY, Will + Demons/At Last, Tessanne + Redemption Song).

 

S10's top 4 were all excellent - Laith was a freaking BEAST on his guitar, nobody was beating Alisan (premiere of blinds closing spot, closed her battle episode, closed her playoffs episode and the finale, second on the number of iTunes bonuses only to Adam, plus the hard push for Xtina to win), Adam dominated iTunes and had Team Blake's backing, and Hannah's KO was the only pre-lives performance to outperform Alisan's performances on iTunes sales (in addition to her closing her playoffs episode and the semifinals).

 

S13's finale was all either originally on Team Miley or Miley-endorsed (she turned for Red in the blinds), and in a season as ridiculously talented even by show standards as S13 was, having a psych-rock vibe, singer-songwriter type, power-pop diva, and country artist is one of the most diverse finale lineups genre-wise that I remember having. Addison ruled iTunes, Chloe had the stage presence that drew people in, Brooke's range was ridiculous, and Red...was there too.

 

S17 all had standout moments throughout the live part of the competition (Katie's playoffs, and top 10; both Ricky and Rose's top 10 and semifinals; Hoot's top 13 and semifinals) and though many people low-key called Hoot winning the minute he ended up being the last country artist standing, I'm not going to say he didn't deserve to make the finale.

S10 was my first full season so I'll have to take everyone's word about S5.  For me personally...I don't see how anything can top S13.
