Best: Blake, Kelly, and Alicia. I voted Usher because even if I wasn't around for many of the seasons I've heard many great things about him and I've seen his videos with Michelle Chamuel.

Worst: I don't really heavily dislike any of the coaches I've seen, so I just went with the majority and voted Shakira.

Best: When it comes to song choice and overall support its hard to go past Blake, and the fact that he usually lets his artists do ther own thing helps them a lot as well, i'd say he is the best with Usher a close second, he had incredible sucress in his two seasons, then third is a tie between Kelly and Alicia, the former has clearly gotten to know her way about the show, and even tho she tends to make questionable decisions, she still has success and helps her artists, and the latter usually picks great song choices and challenges her artists.

Worst: As much as I love her, Shakira, her song choices and the overall direction she took her artists were really questionable. Ceelo comes as a close second, as honestly, Legend as third, he is by far the best one to get the most talent on his team, but clearly doesnt know what to do with it. Adam has had his moments of brilliance as a coach (S7) and incredible stupidity (S6, S15), so he goes fourth because Pharrell had an excellent season in S8 that made up for his flop S7, and Gwen redeemed herself in S17.

Best:

  1. Blake - You can't beat a track record of six wins on the show and that many finalists, plus he's well-known to support his artists after the show.
  2. Alicia - Song choice and getting a finalist every season she coached puts her right under Blake in my books; she also was really good at drawing people into her via her pitches.
  3. Usher - Two seasons with a runner-up and a winner, respectively, is nothing to sneeze at; he generally did well with song choices, but he struggled occasionally (Bria Kelly being the best-known example). That said, he edges out Kelly for my third spot in the top 3 given the TV gold that was the Usher-Michelle friendship in Season 4.

Worst:

  1. Shakira - I'd be thrilled to work with her, but her song choice record isn't great. She also holds the dubious distinction of being the only coach to never get anyone into the finale (she came close both times, but missed the mark).
  2. Gwen - She's got a knack for connecting with artists on a human level in her pitches but makes a lot of WTF decisions. However, she's gotten two artists into the finale (even if both had to be Instant-Saved into it), so that helps her not be the worst on the list. If I were to default to Team Gwen, I wouldn't be upset about it.
  3. Miley - Remember that time she almost had 75% of the finale before she screwed that up? Me too. However, her enthusiasm for her teams is endearing, and she seems like she'd be a blast to work with.

i know it says best, but I just picked my favorites, and so i picked kelly, alicia, and jhud, but from the lens of the question itself, i would probably have picked blake and kelly. I love Kelly's infectiously happy and constantly excited personality, and that juxtaposed with Alicia's serene and calming presence.

BEST

1. Alicia Keys- the way how she coaches her teams was so outstanding. The support and love that she gives her members (even outside the show (ex: Chris Blue)) is actually so inspiring. I also love her song choices and stuffs.

2. Jennifer Hudson- super underrated. She's actually a great coach, even in the UK version of The Voice, she brings out the best in her members, who always end up getting early elimination because apparently, America hates her.

3. Kelly Clarkson- her winning record actually doesn't matter to me, she's inconsistent when it comes to song choices, blah blah. But what I like about her is that she gives joy to the show and her heart is soo pure. Without her, TVUS would be hella boring.

4. Blake Shelton- I only put him here because of he have the most wins in the voice, but I think it is actually only because country music is well loved by the fans. Although he had other genre artists, everyone has a touch of country to it, if it doesn't, then that artist in his team won't place high (Kyla for example, she deserved higher)

WORST

SHAKIRA- ugh. Her choices are so bland. Even though she got good members in the past (Queen Sasha Allen, and Kirsten Merlin), she's still a very boring and bad coach (oops too harsh 😂)

Best: Kelly, She is the one who helps her participants the most out of the show and that for me makes her the best coach, also in the show she helps them out of their box and even though she makes some mistakes, I think she was the best addition to the show.

Worst: Shakira

Imo, the coaches' main job is to provide a safe environment for their contestants, along with the ability to make them look appealing for the audience. Decision-making is key as well, at least early on.

I'm not taking into account song choices because the coaches usually pick one or two song during the lives, if they are lucky enough to get the rights (TCOs are "luckier" than non TCOs in that regard).

So, based on that, here's my ranking:

1. Blake - The smartest coach out there. He could get any contestant from any genre to the Finale. Non-country contestants have to be worthy though. 🥇🤠

2. Alicia - One of the only two female coaches that Minivan loves. She coached three completely different contestants to the Finale and always gave Blake a run for his money. That speaks by itself, I think. 🥈🌻

3. Kelly - Another Minivan fave. She's as powerful as Blake when it comes to rallying the audience. However, Kelly seems to be heavily contestant-dependent; if she doesn't have an appealing contestant, the season is over for her. 🥉 :kelly:

(?) Usher (Super Honorable Mention) - I didn't watch his seasons, but let me tell you that coaching Josh Kauffman and Michelle Chamuel all the way to 1st and 2nd place (respectively) is very impressive. These are not your typical Voice frontrunners, that's not normal. 🏅 🤯

Worst: John....do I really need to explain just look at this season. icecream.gif.eeff1c146c2d381f18814718143

As much as I dislike John now, I like to think of it as S16 John vs S17/18 John. I know John had Maelyn in S16 and that was an easy win, but with the exception of Beth, he did a good job with his artists overall. I was all for him staying, and then S17 and S18 happened.

I didn't mind him at all season 16 but then it went way downhill from there.

Best: Kelly. She gets it, she predicted from the auditions that she could win with Brynn and Chevel, and she did. She told Micah you'll be in the finale from the battle round and he did. She knows what America wants and if she plays her card rights she's shown she can win. I feel like she likes artists similar to Micah and Jej's style and wants to try and win with them, with Jej he underperformed later on. Micah I think did an excellent job, but he wasn't pimped at all, KO controversy and he didn't have that breakout "huge" performance.

However, Blake can still win pretty much win every season if he can get 1 country artist into the finale. It's kind of unfair, he's a great coach.

Worst:

Shakira looks to be really bad, there's also rumors about contestants barely seeing her or engaging with her.
