✨ Does not matter, I support who I like. ✨

I'm not opposed to supporting guys on the show, but I tend to prefer women on the show.

However, I looooove R&B guys on the show (I think that's somewhat unpop) like Chris Blue and Zaxai. I also like some of the pop guys on the show like Cam and Carter, but I think in general I find myself liking one of the women on the show more than the R&B guys. For Chris' season, I probably would have supported Chris in the finale - not sure about before that cause there are lots of talented people like Brennley and Vanessa who were eliminated earlier.

In addition, in S20, the a total of 7 men got 9+/10 on their BAs from me (as opposed to 13 women oops):

Cam - 9.4

Zae - 9.4

Corey - 9.3

Durrell - 9.2

Jose - 9.2

Deion - 9.2

Victor - 9.

However, the top 13 on my list are split almost evenly by gender, with 6 men and 7 women.

IDF has been much more friendly to males recently. People be like, "Durell deserved a steal" but a few years ago it would be like "Poor Durell, Zania murdered him!"

I though they were equal, and this is coming from a Zania stan

Yeah, it was very even, but they are saying that IDF in the past wouldnt have admitted that and would have made it seem like "another male vocal massacre in the hands of a female" lol.

Seems like IDF has grown though, and now is more open to support male contestants too instead of shunning them no matter how good they were like before. Hell, even the country ones are getting a bit more accepted here.

I thought Zania edged him out a little because of how comfortably she fit in the key but Durell was very strong as well.

It could grow to become my favorite battle of the season tbh.

I don't see the problem with IDF liking females more. I mean, literally the main audience is clearly biased for the male contestants, so...

I personally, like to support the females more (not every female, obvious, the ones that i enjoy) because i know they are at disadvantage in comparison to their male countraparts when the voting rounds start, and that honestly pissed me off a lot because there are a lot of talented females that  will never have the chance to shine because the main audience dismmises them a lot just because their gender.

If you ask me, the main audience aka Minivan is kinda of mysoginistic. Just look at the reception almost every female coach has got from them

So, it's inevitable for me to root more for them, sorry. Plus, i have always enjoyed female voices more than male voices, they are easier to my ear for some reason. Now, that doesn't mean i can't have male favorites, Matt Mcandrew and Sawyer were my snowflakes in Season 7 and 8, and i also loved Jeffery, Hunter, Britton, etc.

This might be controversial, but I usually have more female favorites because since S10 the male talent in general has been really lackluster, not because I like female voices more.

There have been some exceptions though (S18, the guys clearly destroyed the girls in Top 9, Micah and Cam included :ph34rwave:) This season also seems to have solid male talent.

Tbh, I genuinely don’t *care* what they are. I have male and female favourites every season. But I do think it’s fun to track trends, so here we go.

If I think about any *specific* season, there are always more females that I really enjoyed listening to and was passionate about. But for my absolute all-time favourites, there are more males on that list.

Ex: Cam is my #1 for S20 and one of my top tier favourites. But the next 5 people in my S20 ranking would be females, but they aren’t in my all-time favourites list... yet.😅

I’ve compared genres and styles of my favourites over the seasons, but there’s really no significant conclusion I can draw from all this.

I think the male trend for all-time favourites is an honest coincidence.

But for liking more females throughout a season, I’d argue that generally speaking, the average female who comes on this show is more technically trained than the average male. Technical ability and competence *usually* matters to me. That’s probably why on average, I’ll enjoy more females.
