Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

FnQB.gif

This is the second write up for a Helena Bonham Carter movie I have done today. (and Alan Rickman as well. RIP legend) I am starting to feel like an awful fan.  This movie is directed by Tim Burton. To the surprise of everyone, it stars Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter (if it was made now, it would probably star Eva Green). This movie came out in 2007 and made $150 million at box office.

A man is unfairly end to prison. He gets out. His wife is dead. His daughter is stuck with the man who sent him to prison. Somehow he teams up with Mrs. Lovett. During their murder spree, they use the bodies for meat for her pies.  She is pretty obsessed with him. He does not care about her at all.  Someone a little brat get involved. Because complex characters are boring, Mrs. Lovett doesn't seem to care about the brat at all. Except for the hints throughout the movie that she did.

Lots of people die. Pretty sure his daughter ends up happy.

Joy Ride

A revenge story that didn't have to use rape as a plot devise. Maybe I regret getting this movie cut.

Don't Let Go (2019 dir. by Jacob Aaron Estes)

Don't_Let_Go_2019_film_poster.jpg

This movie gets some spilt reviews. The acting in it is good. The tone and overall writing is... inconsistent.

Happy Death Day 2U (2019 dir. by Christopher Landon)

This movie is my cut. I claimed it first.

The first movie was a pleasant surprise and really fun. This movie is just massively underwhelming. Despite its best attempts by including some sci fi elements.

Hatchet

Sadly this movie doesn't have Danielle Harris (who rumor has it is a huge Sasha Banks stan¬†ūüėú). So it is no longer part of this rankdown.¬†
