1. Darious Lyles (A-) vs Nelson Cade (A): THIS was a battle, love the heavy, almost throbbing intro! Darious's intro was amazing and I was surprised at how big his voice was, but the second Nelson opened his mouth it was game over. He had a grit and a fire that I did not see in his blind. As they went on, I found Nelson to overpower Darious whenever they sang together, so I would've given it to Nelson, but I'm not shocked or disappointed at the result

2. Micah Iverson (B+) vs Gigi Hess (C+): Overall, I thought this pretty was pretty good too. Like Kelly and John, I was impressed with Micah's range and despite the song not being quite in his wheel house, he still killed it. Gigi was hit or miss for me. Right out the gate, she seemed to be having pitch issues that she quickly recovered from, but the main issue I found was her phrasing. The decisions she made with the melody felt very random and out of place, sucking the emotion out of her performance, while Micah had emotion in spades

3. CammWess (B) vs Mandi Castillo (B-): How much I wish there song was "Love Me Harder" so that way Mandi AND Cam could shine. Both were good, I found Mandi's stage presence to be a bit hesitant for such a seductive song, but her vocal was good if a bit bland. Cam on the other hand was done no favors by the song choice, but he showed off both an impressive head and chest voice, so I would have gave it to him

4. Toneshia Harris (B-) vs Jacob Daniel Murphy (C+): Low energy battle. Everything felt muted, even the band. That being said I found Toneisha to be spot on, but so boring. When being compared to divas of the past on Blake's team alone (Courtney H, Sisaundra L, Kyla J, even Keisha R), they were killer vocalist and were captivating performer, which Toneshia just isn't yet. I liked Jacob's stage presence more, but I found his falsetto to be weak? So this really came down to presence versus performance and I would give it to Toneshia

5. Cam Spinks (C) vs Kailey Abel (B-): Yikes to Cam's edit, that was tough to watch. But if he could walk the walk to match the talk it would've been fine, but he didn't. He got better as he went on, but those first few lines were so strained that I cringed back. Kailey I felt was screwed by the song. I loved her audition, but there was only so much she could do on this. She worked that growl into some parts really well, but overall it just didn't mesh. That said based on staying power and performance, I would've given it to Kailey

6. Anders Dreup (D+) vs Tate Brusa (B-): I'm sorry but I just don't like Anders voice at all. I find it to be very throaty and almost kermit like and anytime he sings, whether on pitch or not, I cringe. Tate I felt improved a lot from his blind, and I can see his potential so I'm excited to see his Knockout. Just give him some more coaching and I think he could be in Nick's top 4.

1 - Micah Iverson vs. Gigi Hess - "Someone You Loved" - Micah was fantastic, and Gigi might have been a little pitchy, but then she got better and the harmonies were beautiful.

 

2 - Darious Lyles vs. Nelson Cade III - "Come Together" - They were both very good, I prefer Darious in this battle, and Nelson in his blind. But very good overall.

 

3 - Toneisha Harris vs. Jacob Daniel Murphy - "Good As Hell" - Very fun to watch, Toneisha was amazing, and JDM was good, a little pitchy, but it was fun. Very even with the other two. It's like these three were really good, really even with each other.

 

4 - Mandi Castillo vs. CammWess - "Señorita" - Here the bad battles begin, this one could have good singers, but they had no chemistry, horrible song choice.

 

5 - Cam Spinks vs. Kailey Abel - "What Ifs" - generic, super meh. But yes, Cam won fairly. I love Kailey tho.

 

6 - Tate Brusa vs. Anders Drerup - "Circles" - These two are a giant no. The song, their voices, is a no.

Gaw, I was thinking about Mandi Castillo and then did the same. 

Vote me Darius Lyles vs Nelson Cade III

Darious Lyles vs. Nelson Cade III: Darious won this battle in the first 30 seconds. He set the pace of the performance and Nelson barely kept up with him. Easy choice here. 

 

Mandi Castillo vs. CammWess: Mandi improved from her blind, probably because of the song choice. CammWess was able to put up a fight, in spite of the song choice. 

 

Mandi is playoff fodder at best, so I'd pick a more interesting Camm here. 

 

Micah Iverson vs. Gigi Hess: Another pairing with a song that clearly favours one of singers more than the other (Micah in this case). Moral of the story: If your battle partner got a perfect song choice, don't get too creative and pray for a steal. 

 

The rest: LMAO

Subjective, but:
1. Micah vs. Gigi - They sounded great together, it wasn't perfect, but I liked both of them. This song suits Micah more, so not shocking that he won. But Gigi was also good and her mistakes weren't unpleasant to hear tbh.

2. Darious vs. Nelson - It looked way better produced than rest of the battles. And this was a good battle, I love Come Together. Darious was amazing, but I can't get through Nelson's voice - it sounds too soft and husky for rock songs, and when he tries to rasp it sounds weak or too strained. He's not bad and deserved a save (where he may sing something different), but I'm so glad that Darious won.

3. Toneisha vs. Jacob - Jacob was such a fodder. But he wasn't bad, he just wasn't on Toneisha's level. Don't like the song choice, but Toneisha did great so I'm not mad.

4. Mandi vs. CammWess - I don't see anything special in Mandi that I didn't saw in other hispanic singers on this show. I liked Camm more, though he sounded like backup singer for Mandi, I'm blaming that on song choice.

5. Cam vs. Kailey - Again, wtf is this song. For me, Kailey was better and I'm upset that she's gone, but they both sounded so awkward in this song.

6. Tate vs. Anders - Lol, it was so boring, I can't even remember this battle.
