Stacey.
I just watched back the audition again to see if I missed something and I'm just... lost. It almost seems as if he's been accused of having an 'ego' or 'attitude' because he didn't go to Hollywood last year and Katy brought it up because she's bitter bc she wanted his The way that Lionel spoke to him was disgusting, rude and unnecessary. Lionel: "I don't like you. How do you feel?" Nick: "Hurt" Lionel: "Good" ... Really? Am I the only one who thinks this is extremely out of order?? He did nothing to suggest he thinks he's too good for the show in any way at all. He actually seemed really grateful and happy to be back and to perform again. Guest
He did strike me as a bit arrogant in the way he carried himself. This was also edited so there's an outside possibility we're missing something here. I think they did it to help him because the show hinges on personal likability. I think they did it because they always like to have someone 'controversial' who makes the live shows. Hopefully it backfires and Lionel looks like a fool when Nick's voted the winner. Elliott
I didn't see any arrogance, personally. Just someone who was confident in their stage presence and abilities. But considering Idol seems to be all about the shy teenagers who have no idea they're a good singer nowadays, I'm not surprised it came across like arrogance to the judges. Stacey.
Why did Lionel assume he couldn't handle being disliked by people when he knows... nothing about him? That's literally part of going on American Idol. I really doubt Nick isn't aware of that.
Carrie_On
I mean, he was a child actor and they’re always a bit arrogant. He was probably told to play up the cockiness. He didn’t really strike me as being too arrogant but he did drop out of the competition last year, so producers probably told the judges to lay into him. CarmenSandiego
I think that Nick has an attitude problem. Maybe not as much as it seemed before he went in to audition, or even during his audition, but he had one and the judges saw enough that they decided to break his haughtiness. For the sake of his fans, I hope it worked.
Zoey
I think he has an attitude problem and is way overconfident considering his singing ability.

holinessss
he was more over the top during his intro package than his actual audition imo - so unless the producers told the judges about that, i don't see how his audition itself was arrogant... mytake1
I don't think his performance of You Say was anything special. I actually thought Sam did a better job with the song. It's only going get more competitive. I can't see him vocally keeping up with guys like Arthur Gunn, Louis Knight - and others we haven't seen yet. frederick
I don't know. I didn't think he had a bad attitude, if they had not said anything I wouldn't have thought he was cocky or anything. He seemed fun and I like him a lot. So I vote no! He has always been known to be a nice guy. Edited February 18, 2020 by frederick
candybliss
Nick reminded me of Adam Lambert when I first saw him. Confident and a person who knows they are good looking. He's also very polished as a performer and I doubt that he will improve with each performance. Yes he has an ego problem. Adam had humbleness which Nick lacks. I wouldn't doubt he left last year because an acting gig came up.

Nick hasn't acted in years, he actually left because of a family issue and couldn't travel. Edited February 20, 2020 by frederick
OSMC
I hesitate to say yes because the whole "arrogant" persona he put on seems very scripted to me, I think the producers wanted to plot a "he thought he was too good for us, so watch the judges put him in his place" storyline. wgm
He deserved that but i do think he si arragent, no. Lionel nor Katy know what personal issues came up, it could have been family issues for all they know.
