RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12

Yikes @ Gigi winning over Jan and Crystal. Listen, I love Gigi. She clearly is going to win the season and is already dominating the competition. But she was not stronger than Jan nor was she funnier or more memorable than Crystal. In terms of fashion on the runway, clearly Gigi is a beast. Even though I loved her look, Jan and Crystal both picked more iconic looks and brought far more character to the runway than Gigi. Though she was smart in finding inspiration from an obscure place, I think the look was a bit more simple than need be.

 

How are the judges going to criticize Heidi for not being Madonna enough, yet praise Gigi for doing actual backflips and roundoffs as though Madonna is an Olympic gymnast? LOLOLOL.

 

Just give Gigi the crown and let's move on. 

 

On the bright side, Brita left the competition? LOL.

 

Rankings:

 

1. Jan - Robbery after robbery after robbery.

2. Heidi - Her drag is not perfected yet, but this small-town queen is giving me life every single week. Endlessly hilarious. Quotable. Relatable. I just need her to stop painting her face so white. 

3. Gigi - Obviously the frontrunner. She is slaying. I love her. Undeserved win this week.

4. Jaida - I still have love for Jaida, but I think she has had so many weeks of flying under the radar and playing very safe. I thought she did very well with Madonna this week though, and her runway was solid. 

5. Jackie - Iconic runway look. LOL. Definitely a super weak performance as Madonna though. I would say maybe she needed to be the one in the lip-sync instead of Heidi.

6. Crystal - I LOVE CRYSTAL SO MUCH. Her Madonna was by far my favorite of the week and she killed the runway, though she usually does. Iconic improvement episode, I hope she continues to kill the game!

7. Widow - Personality is grating on my last nerve, runways are super weak. I did like her Madonna performance though!

I'm kinda hoping that Gigi doesn't win the season so she and Jan will be in an AS together and Jan will be like, "She's gonna steal my win again." And they will lipsync for their legacy against each other

After tonight's episode:

 

1. Crystal Methyd - She is easily my favorite at this point, everything the does is so endearing and entertaining to me. And she's easily my favorite on the runway this season.

2. Heidi N Closet - Still annoyed that the judges won't just call her by her own chosen name, but whatever...like Crystal, I adore Heidi and she slayed this week. I'm glad she has a win under her belt now.

3. Jan - I don't think her commercial was B2 worthy, but there was no way the judges would risk putting up Gigi or SP for elimination. Having said that, Widow definitely won the lipsync and I do think Jan's commercial was a bit much. Overall though, f*ck the judges. They treated Jan pretty poorly all season long. Also she looked incredible tonight.

4. Jaida Essence Hall - She's so elegant <3 

5. Widow Von'Du - I really felt for her this episode, but yeah her challenge performance was maybe the worst of the eight (and the bottom four were all pretty bad). Her lipsync performance was on point though and it seems like they're setting her up for a comeback next week?

6. Jackie Cox - Her commercial was funny-ish, I think her runway wasn't that special. I don't know, I'm just not seeing it with her. I really want to, and I know she's a fan favorite....but I've just been really underwhelmed with her all season. Maybe I'd like her more on a rewatch?

7. Gigi Goode - Her commercial was terrible, literally it was just her bragging about all her wins and then ripping off Katya's commercial from AS2. Also, she sticks to the same few silhouettes on the runway. Some weeks I really like her, but overall I think she's very overrated. :(

[Zoey]

01. Crystal - The only queen I’m bothered about this season. She’s brought something different every week and hasn’t relied on the same thing.

02. Heidi - Her commercial was hilarious and she looked great on the runway.

03. Widow - Solely based on her slaying the lip-sync. I don’t think her commercial was worse than Gigi’s or Jan’s.

04. Jackie - Shes here by default. Hated her runway though. I find them to be so cheap looking.

05. Jaida - Again, she faded in to the background and I didn’t particularly enjoy her runway when it was up against the likes of Crystal/Heidi/Jan.

06. Jan - She looked great on the runway and did well in the lip-sync but she annoyed me this episode and her commercial wasn’t great.

07. Gigi - She deserved to leave this week. The runway was the same silhouette, the commercial was by far the worst and copied from a former queen and I just think she’s cocky.

Taking everything into consideration, so far:

1. Jackie Cox: I know she's polarizing around here but she's still my favourite. She got everything to succeed as a drag superstar, in my opinion
2. Jan: Done wrong. Still love her, and hope to see her on All Stars.
3. Heidi N Closet: The sister is a superstar with that personality.
4. Jaida Essence Hall: Really like her but love the other more; and didn't really care for her look this week as I felt it was a tad bit predictable
5. Gigi Goode: Gigi is good and I like her, but she's starting to get old real quick.
6. Widow Von Du: Killed the lipsync but she needs to step it up.

If Sherry stood a chance at winning, she'd be in my Top 3 overall. You just can't deny how talented she is.

1. Crystal Methyd - Hilarious. I was laughing my ass off the entire time.

2. Heidi N Closet - Same.

3. Jaida Essence Hall - Queen

4. Jackie Cox - Loved the throwback to 1960s television and was really entertained by it.

5. Gigi Goode - Wasn't that good. I thought the bitchy persona and the lines would've been hilarious, but her delivery was non-existent. Go on girl, give us nothing

6. Dan Schneider - Boring and I didn't understand what was being sold until the end.

7. Jan - Girl, slow down. I liked the concept behind it but I more-or-less agreed with the judges.

That challenge was an absolute mess. This season really is a shambles.

 

01. Crystal - The only one who embodied a drag queen. What the challenge was about.

02. Heidi - Whatever she does is funny.

03. Jaida - The only thing that made me laugh was the distraction jokes. The looks are getting far too predictable now.

04. Widow - There weren’t any jokes but I appreciated the character more than the two below who didn’t land any jokes at all.

05. Jackie - Terrible week for her.

06. Gigi-  She needs to go now. She played the same character as Snatch Game, wore another predictable suit and then brought another blazer to the runway. By far the worst of the week.

Challenge was a mess but Jaida was the clear standout IMO. On top of that another great look. I think up to this point she’s been more well-rounded than Gigi, who has been underwhelming these last two weeks.

Tbh I could maybe find myself stanning Gigi again as an entertaining villain. But in the last week her comments on privilege added with her general attitude last night has lost me a little bit. She should have lip-synced last night (but then again, 4 of them should have)

imo, Dan Schneider or Gigi should’ve lip synced over Jackie but that clearly wasn’t happening.

Gigi should have been in the bottom with Widow. Maybe because I understood all of Jackie’s jokes, I didn’t think she was that bad.

 

I still love her and she’s still my fave plus her runway and lip sync performance was on point.

I’m sad to see Widow go. She was clearly very defeated the last couple weeks and her challenge performances just felt very low-energy compared to in the early weeks! But Jackie really surprised me in the lip-sync, she outshone Widow for sure.

 

Lowkey I probably would have had Gigi/Jackie in the bottom oops, I just felt they both seemed very forced, but then I get why Widow was there. Also Sh***y doing that tired offensive Katharine Hepburn trope again was awful.

1. Crystal - Still my favorite, she's playing her own game and it's really refreshing to watch. I kind of hope she doesn't win (and don't think she will) so we can see her come back for an All-Stars season, that's how much I love watching her.

2. Heidi - One of the most entertaining queens of all time. I love everything she says, ugh

3. Jaida - After this week I am definitely a fan, her calling out Crystal for not knowing who DeBarge is cracked me up since the fandom has been saying that from the start lmao. Plus her runway look was a 10/10, one of the best of the season for sure

4. Jackie - Idk she wasn't that bad in the challenge, but I can see the Canada joke getting a little tired. Her runway look and lipsync were great (although Firework is such a cringey song to me so it was hard for me to truly enjoy the lipsync haha)

5. Widow - I kind of feel like Ru/production tore into her and I hope she as a person is okay and sees her worth, because that (plus Untucked) was just painful to watch. Though I do agree with them that her debate was just......not funny.

6. Gigi - Ugh. Officially not a fan of hers. I like the confidence but like, gurl you ain't Violet or Aquaria. Maybe have some people other than your mom make some of your outfits?? Just a thought

1. Jaida Essence Hall - “Look Over There!” needs to become the next big meme.

2. Heidi N. Closet - smh at the editors not showing the mentorship blossoming between Heidi and Jaida. Heidi is definitely improving the last two weeks.

3. Jackie Cox - I... thought the Canada jokes were funny? I don’t get why they acted like they didn’t make any sense.

4. Crystal Methyd - Sis has grown on me a lot. I think her and Jaida could be dark horses now that Gigi’s stumbling.

5. Gigi Goode - Yikes & yikes & yikes. Politically active Ru letting it slide that Gigi isn't into politics? Choices. None of the judges calling out that she was wearing a British soldier look and not a US one? Choices.

6. Widow - I’m gonna miss her, but I think she got too much in her head these last two weeks.  I liked the thought behind her look as well, but I haven’t been a fan of how most of her looks have been presented. I think she’ll pull a Monique for All Stars though.

That wasn’t at all what they said? Their critique was that the Canada shtick stopped being funny after the first couple of times she used it, which was kind of true. (Still think she was better than Gigi and Widow though)
