22. Ariana Grande - “thank u, next”

Ariana Grande kicks off this latest set with “thank u, next” at #22. As we know, Ariana released A LOT of singles throughout 2018 and 2019. This song and “breathin” were two songs I was debating on including on this list. I have decided to put “thank u, next” on here, as it came out in November and was part of a 2019 album released and decided against putting “breathin” as it was part of a different album and didn’t really carry over too much in 2019. Back to “thank u, next,” I think this song has a really cool slow jam feel to it, which I do really like. On first listen, this song was a little slow for me to get used to but the more i heard it, I did grow to really love it. I do remember this song being a surprise Saturday night release, which I didn’t even know about until hearing it the next Sunday on the radio. I’m pretty sure we all know the meaning of this song… it’s like her letter to all of her past ex’s. And I love how she addresses them all in the song singing: Thought I'd end up with Sean/But he wasn't a match. Wrote some songs about Ricky. Now I listen and laugh. Even almost got married, and for Pete, I'm so thankful. Wish I could say 'Thank you' to Malcolm, ‘Cause he was an angel. Her line about Malcolm aka Mac Miller always gets to me though. :( I do love the pre-chorus where she sings One taught me love. One taught me patience. And one taught me pain. Now, I'm so amazing. Say I've loved and I've lost. I do love how she sings the chorus of the song that goes: Thank you, next (Next). Thank you, next (Next). Thank you, next. I’m so f**kin' grateful for my ex. It has that soft slight jammy feel to it, but I love how she puts a positive spin and thanking her exes rather than trashing them, which a lot of songs deal with regarding exes. And it’s so fun bopping along to that “I’m so grateful for my ex” line. From the second verse, I do love the part where she sings I know they say I move on too fast. But this one gon' last. ‘Cause her name is Ari and I'm so good with that (So good with that). It’s nice how she’s gonna put herself first. I do really like the bridge where she talks about wanting to get married and being thankful for her parents…. especially like where she sings: One day I'll walk down the aisle, holding hands with my mama. I’ll be thanking my dad cause she grew from the drama. Only wanna do it once, real bad. Gon' make that s**t last.  I also love the music video, that parodies classic teen movies like Mean Girls, Bring It On, Legally Blonde and others. It’s a really fun video to watch. I also love the Kris Jenner cameo filming video of Ariana’s performance with her girls. :haha: Jonathan Bennett’s cameo is great too. But it was unsurprising how big of a smash hit this was for Ariana, b ut what is surprising is that  this was Ariana’s first #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

21. Post Malone - “Goodbyes” (feat. Young Thug)

Song starts at 1:10

Clean Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QumPpMqaxxo

Post Malone and Young Thug’s collaboration of “Goodbyes” just misses out of the Top 20 at #21. Unlike what i said with “Circles” that showed up awhile ago, when I first heard “Goodbyes,” I really liked this right away. I had “Better Now” vibes from this song which if you followed my list last year, you know i really love that song which I had at #12 or #13? Omgg um yikes, I did not need to see the beginning of that video and I was not prepared for it (but the rest of the video where the song plays should be fine) so I’ll say when the song starts above. :fear: Like “Better Now,” this seems to be a breakup song or a relationship that has gone sour. From the first verse, I do love the part where Post sings: All I do is complain. She needs something to change. Need to take off the e-e-edge. So f**k it all tonight. And don't tell me to shut up. When you know you talk too much. I really love that “e-e-edge” part. I do really love the chorus of the song where the song slows down and Post sings: I want you out of my head. I want you out of my bedroom tonight (bedroom). There's no way I could save you (save you). ‘Cause I need to be saved too. I’m no good at goodbyes. That part just gets me in the feels and makes me want to sing and belt along with Post. I feel his pain there. :bye2: The “I’m no good at goodbyes” part always makes me think of Sam Smith’s “Too Good at Goodbyes” where that goes “i’m too good at goodbyes” and Post is saying the opposite. From Post next’s verse, besides that e-e-edge part again, I love the part where he sings: Say you needed this heart, then you got it (got it). Turns out that it wasn't what you wanted (wanted). And we wouldn't let go and we lost it. Now I'm a goner. Dangg those lyrics are so ouch and I feel so much pain there from Post. :bye2: Young Thug is a rather interesting addition to this song. I will admit on my earlier listens, he kinda ruined this song for me at first with how high pitched and squeaky his voice gets. It just annoyed me. LOL I know these comments are gonna make people like this song even less soooo jeeez I’m such a genius for that. :dead: But eventually i was abe to get over that and grew adjusted to that part. And surprisingly one of my favorite parts is where he gets all high pitched. :lmao: It’s the part that goes: My argue possessive, it got you precise. Can you not turn off the TV? I'm watchin' a fight. omgg I did not know Young Thug mentioned Nicki Minaj where he raps Your Barbie life doll. Is Nicki Minaj. I wouldn’t be surprised if this song would have been higher if not for Young Thug but oh well. I do love the last part of the song where Post sings all of those “goodbye” parts and I'm no good at goodbyes. Gah such a sad song. Goodbye for now, Post Malone. 😢

20. Jonas Brothers - “Only Human”

I think it’s time for a much happier song and who better to do that then the Jonas Brothers with “Only Human” coming in at #20. I feel pretty certain I first heard this song sometime around June when the Jonas Brothers album came out or was about to come out? I think I saw them perform this on either some day talk sow or a late night talk show. I did like this song right away and thought it was such a fun and funky song. And whoa it just came to me but this kinda reminds me of a Maroon 5 song - something like “One More Night” or one of their funky pop sounding songs. Then I remember hearing this quite a bit on the radio before it became an official single, and I think it was a promo single at first? I can’t remember - but eventually it became a single and a huge hit for the JoBros. As I said, I love the funky feel of this song with the beat/music and all of that.  It’s just so feel good. I like how Joe starts off singing the song I don't want this night to end. I’m already jamming! Then I love the pre-chorus that goes: We gon' dance in my living room, slave to the way you move, hurts when I'm leaving you (Ayy). Just dance in the living room, love with an attitude. Drunk to an 80s groove (Ayy). :bobo: But UH why is the audience singing along to that part and they sound so dang loud? I DID NOT ASK FOR THIS. (!) Oh well I love that part and the chorus too where the song which Nick takes lead vocals on singing:  It's only human. You know that it's real. So why would you fight or try to deny the way that you feel? Oh, babe, you can't fool me. Your body's got other plans. So stop pretending you're shy, just come on and dance, dance, dance, dance, oh. And then that fun dancey music comes in and I’m out here jamming along! :bobo: Nick sings the second verse too and I like that whole part especially where he sings Early morning la-la-light. Only getting up to close the blinds, oh. Hmm is it me or does the song not have a bridge? I never noticed that until now but weird. OMGG and sorry to say but the music video is beyond cheesy. I know it’s ‘80s inspired and well it does a good job at that. :haha: Omgg I see the Carlton dance move at 2:43, lmao oh wow.

19. Halsey - “Without Me”

Halsey makes her 4th appearance on the list with her huge hit “Without Me” at #19. i know I had this song on my 2018 list and I was growing to really love it at that point. I definitely grew to love this song even more in 2019, and with how much I heard it and it being played so much - even went through a phase of getting tired of it. :lmao: “Without Me” is quite emotional and deals with the hardships of a relationship that failed. i really like Halsey’s voice and she sounds good throughout this. She really sings this with her heart and so much pain and emotion which you can certainly hear throughout the song. I like the opening verse from her - although the song really picks up for me on the pre-chorus where she sings: I said I'd catch you if you fall (fall). And if they laugh, then f**k 'em all (all). And then I got you off your knees. Put you right back on your feet. Just so you could take advantage of me. Gahh so sad. :( Although I love that part even more the 2nd time she sings it. I do love the chorus of the song where she sings: Tell me, how's it feel sittin' up there? Feeling so high, but too far away to hold me. You know I'm the one who put you up there. Name in the sky, does it ever get lonely? Thinking you could live without me. Thinking you could live without me. :bye2: I especially love those Thinking you could liiiiivvvvvve without me parts, which are so easy to sing along to. I want to say fun to sing along to but the song isn’t really a fun song at all. Besides the chorus, I  really the bridge of the song, which I always look forward to while listening to this. The part where she sings: You don't have to say just what you did (what you did). I already know (I know) is so good. That part always reminds Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River.” When Halsey sings that part, I would sometimes want to sing the line “….I found out from him” but then get disappointed because it NEVER comes. :haha:  But yeah I’m happy for Halsey achieving so much success with this song because it’s a great song and i do love it. ❤️

18. Ariana Grande - “break up with your girlfriend, I’m bored”

Ariana Grande shows up with her 4th appearance on this list with “break up with your girlfriend, I’m bored” coming in at #18. Also I msut say a VERY well done to Denise on predicting Ariana Grande would have two songs on this set. 😮 Even though this song is higher than “thank u, next” I still think i prefer TUN more and the year split was what hurt that song over this song that was fully a 2019 song. Now I believe I heard this song right away when it came out in February. Well ok maybe not right away, but I heard clips of the song and would eventually hear the song in full on the radio. Omggg wow when I first heard of and heard this song, I had the biggest field day with it and I still do to this day. But yeah wow, Ariana is very blunt with what she’s singing here…. “break up with your girlfriend” and you know why? “Cause I’m bored.” 😘 NOT sure this is advice people should be giving or taking as it will turn into an ugly picture. Ariana does sound quite hot on this song and on those opening verse - and ooh whoa the line of her singing: Took one f**kin' look at your face (Hmm). Now I wanna know how you taste (Mmm-mmm), is wow. 😮 I do love the softness and prettiness of her vocals on the pre-chorus where she sings: Then I realize she's right there. And I'm at home like, "Damn, this ain't fair". Oh i thought there were more lyrics to that part but there isn’t so oops. Then of course i am SO here for the chorus which is so fun, catchy and blunt as heck. Break up with your girlfriend. Yeah, yeah, 'cause I'm bored. You could hit it in the mornin' (Mornin’). Yeah, yeah, like it's yours. I know it ain't right, but I don't care (Care). Break up with your girlfriend. Yeah, yeah, 'cause I'm bored. :DEAD: Oooh Ari, the bluntness from you kills me. :lmao: This song is sooo wrong but it amuses me in so many ways. Wow. From the second verse, I reallly love the part where she sings: You know what you're doin' to me. You're singin' my songs in the streets, yeah, yeah. I also love the bridge of the song at 2:22 and how the song kinda intensifies there with Ariana singing: You could say I'm hatin' if you want to. But I only hate on her 'cause I want you and that whole part has a cool sound to it.

17. Normani - “Motivation”

It’s been wayy too long but yayy it’s time for some Normani to show up on my  year-end list and she does so with “Motivation” at #17! :w00t: I always enjoyed the collaborations Normani has worked on and been apart of but I was wondering when she would do a legit solo song all by herself. And here she does with “Motivation,”  which I really love a ton. There was a lot of hype for and around this song, and I think i heard about this on the Wednesday before its release so I only had two days to wait for this. Then when this song came out, I rushed *okay not really* went to Youtube and watched the music video about an hour after its release which I never do so Normani had me at hello. :dead: I really liked the song right away and absolutely loved the music video - with all of the late 90s/early 00s feels of the video - there’s Beyoncé, Britney, J.Lo amongst other influences in the video and I’m here for all of that. And Normani is smokin’ hot in the video, omgg. :dead: The little Normani/106 & Park intro is soo cute. OK let’s discuss the song and I’ll start with the first verse. I really like where she sings: You got that good good, baby, don't you? Got that good good, baby, don't you? But you leavin' solo. GOT THAT GOOD GOOD! :bobo: I love the pre-chorus where she sings: Fallin' into the bed. Why would we ever do somethin' instead of Fallin' into the bed right now? And that move Normani does at 1:09 is insane. And the choreography/dancing she executes is amazingly out of this world! :omg: She really showcases her star power in this. But okay then the chorus is everything. It’s sooo infectious, catchy and CAN NOT EVER leave my head. I LOVE it all. Imma break you off, let me be your motivation, to stay and give it tonight. And baby, turn around, let me give you innovation. Hey, 'cause I do it so right. Think about it, oh, think about it. Think about it, oh, take a look at me now. Hey, a little motivation, alright. :bobo: THINK ABOUT IT, OH THINK ABOUT IT. TAKE A LOOK AT ME NOW. :bobo: Tell it, Mani! I really enjoy the second verse especially where she sings:  And we both know there's no one better boy, no one better boy and Get you naked but I won't tell 'em. Oops, never knew she sang that second line. Then that part from 1:55 to 1:59 is such an iconic moment with Normani and that basketball. :omg: Take a look at it in gif form: giphy.gif While I do love the verses and LOVE that chorus, I do wish there was more of a bridge with Normani singing there but then again, I do love the horns playing at that part - and at least it provides us another killer dance section from Normani. I love the rest of the chorus parts Normani sings towards the end  and then THAT HORNS breakdown section at 3:31 is SO SICK. That part and well a lot of this song reminds me of so much of early Beyoncé from the Dangerously In Love era. If my comments didn’t make it clear, let me make it clear now that this is pretty much my favorite music video of 2019! :bobo:  I just loveee it so much. Normani went ALL OUT with the dancing/choreography and energy here an I love every second of it. And of course I love the song a ton, and I seriously think this was overlooked and underrated as it sooo should ave been a much bigger hit.

Wow, I'm sure of all people you would've saw that movie.  YeaH, it's the bend And snap' scene.'

Thanks for the lesson in telling me all of Ariana's ex's.  😄 btw I didn't know Legally Blonde was feature in it, when I saw the video, 'Mean Girls' was the only one that stood out. Aww, now I want to watch Legally Blonde.

-Thanks for the lesson, again!  but 'thank you, next' and 'no tears left to cry' are her best 😄

-Maybe it is Adam Rippon in it,  I don't know! btw who is Adam Rippon?  I'm gad IDF 2.0 has all the Adam smileys carried over. :

-Because I hear his voice and he sounds older. :P

- Oooh loll what does that mean? :haha: But yeah lots of other people have seen that movie but I never id outside of a few clips. i wouldn’t mind seeing it sometime. Oooh lmaooo at this clip. Thanks for showing me this and now i can get the references in the video. :haha: Okay now parts of this clip I have definitely seen before. :lmao: Ooh you’er welcome for the Ariana exs lesson there. :giggle: Ooh gee’s a number of movies featured in thee - there’s also Bring It On and 13 Going On 30 (which I am not familiar with).

You’re welcome. I had “no tears left to cry” at #2 on  my list last year sooo i may be partial in saying that’s my favorite Ariana Grande song. :haha:

Both are in the video. Ooooh ok, I won’t take it too much on you for not knowing Adam Rippon, since you’re from Canada - but he’s an Ameican figure skater, and won DWTS All Athletes last year…. oops now 2 years ago, though he has retired from skating and focusing on other things. Oooh I’m not. :ermm: LOL I kid.

Okay fair but how ~old does he sound to you? :haha:

I only speak the truth. With everything i said.

- Mhmm. Ahh yess I know, but hmm I wonder why they didn’t do more with that dmix there? Oooh I seee lol - well it was only for this song, so a two time ting there. :giggle: OMGG LOL I loved how you answered this for real. :haha: Aww sorry you’re feeling tired.

-Mhmmm and yay for understanding! Oooh ok, I suppose you are right and omggg lol i love how well you know this that you can hear it your head. :haha: Lmaooo yess. I feel he’s done it a few times but one time it was just like 2 or 3 weeks ago (and it was a Friday episode). So funny but lol he loves to show off. :haha:

You wouldn't be scared to tell me you don't like something you think I also don't like. Please make sense. 😢

- "dmix" 😮  But I don't know. Okay. I was in the mood to answer for real. :broken:  Thanks, but... that is me.

- Yayy thank you. ❤️ I can.  He's done it a few times with this song? Oh my. I need to see.

22. Ariana Grande - “thank u, next:”  I didn't even think of Ariana releasing so many singles so much as releasing her albums way too close together. But I get the timing issue with this and breathin', ugh. I don't remember my initial thoughts on this, but I do think it grew on me some. I love the feel to and the optimism of it. :bobo:  Yeah, the Malcolm lyric is so sad. :( I love that pre-chorus part too and all she learned from her exes. It's so good. I enjoyed all the parts you mentioned. :bobo: And the video is fun. Really weird this was her first #1 on Billboard though? That confuses me.

21. Post Malone - “Goodbyes” (feat. Young Thug): I forgot about this song and/or didn't realize it was 2019. When was this released? Interesting with the Circles comparison, but I never cared for this one. I remember hearing this a lot on the radio. Wait, what happens at the start of the video? I won't know because I'm playing the clean version... which wait, is not actually clean. omg Wally. My poor ears. Hmm these parts and this song is all okay for me. Not my favorite, but not my least favorite, I suppose.  lol the Young Thug comments. Wow, I hear that. Interesting lyrics.

20. Jonas Brothers - “Only Human:” Wow, I never thought of the Maroon 5 comparison, but I get that. I do love the funkiness of this song too. :bobo: You heard this a lot on radio before it was a single? Why would that happen? But yeah, I heard this one a ton too. It's so fun and catchy. I love these parts you named too. lol the people singing in the video. Ahh these chorus lyrics are something for me... but yep. :bobo: Yay the Carlton! I think it's all very fun. :bobo:

19. Halsey - “Without Me:” Oooh you know about me with this. I loved this song about a year ago, but omg it was still playing foreverr and felt so old to me. :dead: I could not.  I do love her voice on it though and the song itself. I just needed a break. I like all the parts you named. "Put you right back on your feet. Just so you could take advantage of me." bye2.gif.7960d44992e1eeff806cdce1d9856c29.gif  One of my favorites.  Oh, I'm sure you made this CMAR comment last year too, but I see. :haha: You should do a medley of the songs.

18. Ariana Grande - “break up with your girlfriend, I’m bored:” "I msut say a VERY well done to Denise on predicting Ariana Grande would have two songs on this set." Well oh, thank you. bye2.gif.7960d44992e1eeff806cdce1d9856c29.gif I felt like it would be her, so yay. "I still think i prefer TUN more" :haha: But I get what you're saying about the years. I too prefer TUN. "Omggg wow when I first heard of and heard this song, I had the biggest field day with it" Explain? Yeah, I cannot support what she's saying in this song. Wow. OMG that line you quoted from the opening verse. I cannot even comment. The pre-chorus is one of my favorite parts, and I think my second favorite... and the chorus is my least favorite. Ugh it does not work for me. I'm sorry, I love Ari, but am disappointed with some of these singles and her latest album. :broken: THE BRIDGE. OMG WALLY. THAT IS AN NSYNC SAMPLE. YOU DIDN'T MENTION. :omg: That is my favorite part of the song and I love it,  but sad that my favorite part of this and 7 Rings are samples of other songs.

17. Normani - “Motivation:” "It’s been wayy too long" hasn't it been the whole list? :haha: But yes, I knew this song would rank high. I too wondered when she would actually release a solo single, so glad it finally happened. I like the video too and think her outfits are cute. I don't get the specific comparisons with the artists, but maybe in general.  This song is really fun, upbeat, catchy and all that. OMG some of the lyrics. "Why would we ever do somethin' instead of Fallin' into the bed right now?' What. But yeah, I like that move you pointed out that she does. We know she's a fantastic dancer. Yay the chorus! :bobo: Although I didn't know at first what exactly she was saying in there, sooo wow. Okay. This song is all about something. lol I knew she said that one lyric you didn't know about. I always heard it. Ooh this other dance move part you named is really cool too. Agree about the horns and more dancing. :bobo: I agree she did great with the video and it's amazing for her first one too. It's a full-on performance and a lot of fun. I did feel like the song died kind of quickly on radio, but I enjoyed it while it lasted.

This list has gone sooo fast. :omg:

- This song title is spelled the same way both forwards and backwards: ooo. Post Malone - Wow.

- This song title seems to address a parent: Panic! At the Disco - Hey Look Ma, I Made It.

- Something that a lot of people drink: Lizzo - Juice.

- Something that all of us here do:  Khalid - Talk.

- A 3 artist collaboration song, which features an artist that showed up in the 76-71 set: The recap doesn't work. bye2.gif.7960d44992e1eeff806cdce1d9856c29.gif  Ellie Goulding & Diplo - Close to Me (featuring Swae Lee).

- This song shares the same name of a classic Bee Gees hit: Shawn Mendes - If I Can't Have You.

28. Bad Bunny - “MIA” (feat. Drake): I thought this was going to be M.I.A. at first and I was intrigued, but I don't usually care for Drake that much nor do I care for Bad Bunny, whoever that is based on this song.

27. Travis Scott - “Sicko Mode” (feat. Drake): Yes this is indeed a 2018 song. It should have stayed there - hated this then and still do.

26. 5 Seconds Of Summer - “Easier:” Each time I hear a song from them on this list, I keep thinking I wouldn't mind never hearing from them and this is no exception. This just sounds like any other boyband song.

25. Lizzo - “Good As Hell:” It would be good as hell if I never listened to this song again. Jk, like Elliott and Chris I know this from RPDR and love it, so funky.

24. Lewis Capaldi - “Someone You Loved:” Slay. He reminds me of James Arthur as well and the song is haunting and powerful. Definitely one of my favorites of the year.

23. Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper - “Shallow:” Like Chris said, very 2018 considering that was when the soundtrack was released but the song still slays.

- Ahhh yeah I can see that confusion there. :haha: Bad Bunny was in a number of Spanish songs, and some i had on my list such as Mi Gente and I Like It, but don't think you would like those (and know you don't with ILI). But understandable thoughts.

- I liked and heard this enough in both years but lol not surprised you don't like Sicko Mode.

- Lol not surprised with these 5SOS comments. :haha: Yeah I get you on this song sounding like a typical boy bander song, and it's weird with them as they aren't really viewed as that type of boy  band even though they appeal to a young audience and do play instruments.

- OMGG woww you really got me with your first comment here on "Good as Hell." :lmao: #blesss at you loving this and the funkiness of this song. :bobo: Ah it's cool how so many people know this from RPDR.

- Yessss at agreeing with me on the James Arthur comment. 😄 Glad you love this song too.

- Understandable but wasn't the soundtrack released at the end of 2018? So yeah it didn't have much time to grow on me and I heard this much more in 2019 where it was having all of those award shows buzz and such. But yayy for loving this. ❤️

- This song shares the same name of a classic Bee Gees hit: Shawn Mendes - If I Can't Have You.

I could be though. Awww I’m sorry…. you know I don’t make sense most of the time.

- Dmix. ❤️ Oooh awwww i seee. I was expecting us to sing along together but I am fine with you answering. Awww Denise.

- You’re welcome! ❤️ I think soooo. I feel like he has but I know once for sure. If I somehow find it, I’ll link you.  And he also mashed it up with “Knocking on Heaven’s Door.”

- Ahhh yeah I think of it both ways and yeah she’s done both of releasing so many singles and alums close together. Gah yeah the timing affected my listenings and growth factor  with a lot of those songs. Ahh yeah I get this on having to grow on you as well. Ugh yeah the Malcolm lyrics are so heartbreaking. :( Yayy for enjoying all of the parts i mentioned. Work it! :bobo: It is a fun video! Mhmmmm, shocking isn’t it? She’s had plenty of #1s on the Top 40 (radio) charts but this is her first Billboard HoT 100 #1 which factors in many different factors like overall radio airplay, streaming, sales, etc.

- Ahh I figured that and was wondering why you never guessed Goodbyes with the Post Malone clues but ahh I see you forgot. Ooh, I didn’t say? Oops me, but I believe this came out in July (2019). Awww no, bummer that you never cared for this but i understand. :(  But yea this was another really big hit for Post. It was before the song starts so around the first minute mark. But gahh there was a stabbing in it - I think Post was getting stabbed but I can’t remember. I can’t bare to watch stuff lie that. Oooh the link isn’t clean? It said it when I linked it but maybe a copy/paste fail? Oops sorry. Awww these are fear comments and at least it’s not your least favorite. Lol oops yeah I had to get used to Young Thug’s part for some time. Could have been higher if things were different too.

- Oooh I didn’t really either until commenting on this but yayy for getting the Maroon 5 comparisons and loving the funkiness of this song. Well okay, maybe not ~a lot, but my station jumped on this right away before it was officially released. It was so weird lol. But of course it was played a lot as an actual single. Yayy for liken the fun and catchiness of this. I do too. Yayy for loving the parts i mentioned and yayy you calling and thinking of this song as so fun. I do too. :bobo:

- Oooh do I? :giggle: LOL JK I do an yea I get you feelings on this song feeling so old to you. LMAO Yess this is all true and i know this song was played soooo much and a lot throughout the end of 2018 and all of 2019. It got a little old for me too but I did love it for the most part. Yayy for liking all of the parts i listed! Ughh yess that part is sooo sad. :bye2: Ooh yess I sure did. Oooh yess I want to hear a medley of those two songs, haha.

- Awww yesss you’re welcome. Now you can hopefully understand my response a bit because I was very impressed how you guessed and knew Ariana was regarding this clue sooo work it. :haha: Ah yeah I had to put that in there but yeah these year splits are so hard to focus and figure out. Oooh lmaoo well like it had me cracking up with the subject matter. It had me sooo… wow I can not. :dead::lmao: Omggg your comments on the opening verse and how you can’t comment. Omggg you are tooo much. :lmao: Awww nice that you like the pre-chorus but awwww the chorus being your lest favorite. Sorry there. :( Oooh awww you’re disappointed with her latest album? Aww I didn’t know that. Ooooh? Lol oh snap I did not know this samples an *NSYNC song but I see it’s “It Makes Me Ill” which I do really like but haven’t heard in so long. :lmao: Nice that is your favorite part. Oooh awww why are you sad about that? :( The samples were well done in both songs.

- Lmaoo yess it has. :dead: Oooh awww yayy well done knowing Normani’s Motivation would be ranked high. I didn’t want to give anything away or allude to that ut you always see right through me with some songs. :haha: Ah yeah I was wonerding when Normani would release a solo solo song all of her owns too. Yayy for liking the video and finding the outfits cute. ❤️ Oooh i can picture the comparisons in my head but like certain settings those videos have, and yeah those videos are forever in my head. Yayy agree with your comments on the song! 😄 Omgggg loll that lyric you quoted and lmaoo I don’t know what to say there either but I did always notice that an d wondered what that was about. :lmao: OMGGG your comments….. are amazing and cracking me up. :lmao: “This song is all about something.” Ahh really you did? Ugh I’m bummed I didn’t but that happens. Ah yesss and yayy loving all of our agreement here with my comments. 😄 It is and I can’t wait to hear and see more solo stuff from Normani. Ughh yeah it did. :broken: I enjoyed it as well.

omgggg IT SURE IS. I’m sad. :’( Although the list would have been over if not for the update pauses and breaks. But oooooo interesting guesses here. :shifty: And ugh yeah… the older recap and links used to work but don’t anymore. Ugh. :( But you will find these answers out soon!

22. Ariana Grande - “thank u, next:” I feel like I listened to this way more in 2018 than 2019. But with that being said, I do really love this song - it's iconic. The music video is iconic too but the song? That's what makes the MV iconic. Just love the beat, the lyrics, and everything about it.

21. Post Malone - “Goodbyes” (feat. Young Thug): No, thank you.

20. Jonas Brothers - “Only Human:” I much prefer Sucker despite Tom hating that song.

19. Halsey - “Without Me:” I could do without you, Halsey. But yeah, the song is meh.

18. Ariana Grande - “break up with your girlfriend, I’m bored:” I like Ariana and enjoyed her last album but this song is one of the worst one of the album.

17. Normani - “Motivation:” This is a bop and I hope she is able to have a breakout year!

- Ah I understand that. I did hear tun more in 2019 than 2018, I believe. But yayy for loving the song. Yayy for thinking the music video is iconic too. It certainly is and does help out the song, at least it helped me love htis more. :haha: Yayy these comments.

- Not surprised but understandable.

- Awww I understand this thought and lol not surprised at the Tom comment.

- This shady comment doesn't surprise me here either. :haha:

- Awww at calling and thinking buwygib is one of Ariana's worst on her latest album. :( That's a bummer.

- Yesss Motivation is such a bop for sure. :bobo: I feel like Normani is on that brink of a breakout and yeah hoping it happens this year too.

22. Ariana Grande - “thank u, next:” Definitely more 2018 for me but still a jam!

21. Post Malone - “Goodbyes” (feat. Young Thug): I enjoyed the instrumentals in the first minute. As for the rest of the song...can we say our oodbyes to Pst Malone from the industry? And Young Thug while we're at it?

20. Jonas Brothers - “Only Human:” Any Jonas Brothers song in the top 20 is a real choice! Haven't heard this before but I don't like it much better than Sucker, lol.

19. Halsey - “Without Me:” Eh, don't care for the song in the first place, it's mid tempo and I don't like those most of the time and her voice isn't my cup of tea most of the time either.

18. Ariana Grande - “break up with your girlfriend, I’m bored:” Ugh, this above thank u next? Ariana, I'm bored with this song. It's one of the worst on the album and I would've put it on ~Tom's Least Favorite Songs of 2019~ except again, boring.

17. Normani - “Motivation:” I can't believe this was Normani's first solo song. 😮  I do think she is capable of doing an even more upbeat/energetic song that way it won't get overlooked but this was a great debut; the chorus is awesome.

- lol. Oh oops, sorry. :(

- Oooh... it's not online? Hmm, but oh, that sounds interesting. :?

- Yeah, but okay, thanks for explaining this. It's just all the same to me. :haha:

- Sorry. :( Oh, it feels older to me than that for some reason. Okay, I didn't look because I went with the "clean" link, of course. Oh wow, thanks for telling me. I don't want to see that either. Noo it was not. 😢 The title didn't say so either.

- omg I have to tell you I heard Cry Me a River on the radio today and thought of this convo. :haha:   A medley would be cool.

- Oh, sort of.. you laughed because my first guess was right.  Yeah... I see. Well, I can't and am sure you're thinking something about me with that and it does not need to be said.  Yeah. Yes. OMG. I always knew this since I heard it. Ahh that was from my first ever CD. Because it is sad for the samples of other songs to be the best part of these songs.  I wouldn't think much of it if it was just one song, but it's her two singles in a row where the best parts to me are not original.

- Of course I always knew. I do! Oh, which videos? I am curious. lol... wow. Oh really? Well it is, but I'm not going to say. She says enough. Yeahh. Weird thing to be bummed about, but okay. :lmao: Yay! Me too. Aww. :(

I'm shocked. Doesn't this seem so much faster than usual? I know, that is even crazier. Ugh, I'm confused. I thought might still worked, so don't know why yours don't.

- Yess thank u, next is a definite jam. :bobo:

- Lolol your comments on the instrumental part. Well I am glad you enjoyed that part of the song at least. I can give or take Young Thug but I'm still here for Post Malone as long as he makes jams I love. :bobo:

- Lol I would have agreed with you on the Jonas Brothers comment before 2019 but this song came about and is a fun jam, soo  Igot no shame. :bobo: Ooooh at preferring this over Sucker, with this being your first time listening to this. I seee. 😮

- OMGGG I forgot all abotu your hatred for mid-tempo tracks. Ughh I never got that. :dead: Awww these comments don't surprise me too much.

- Overall speaking, I do prefer tun over buwugib but.... the year split and figuring out how to rank "thank u, next" ended up hurting that song with balancing it out - for my 2019 feelings Hard to explain. Aww bummer you find this boring and would put this on your least favorite songs list.

- Yeppers. 😮 Although she's done collaborations with Khalid and Sam Smith and also released Waves which features another rapper or singer on there - and that was actually her first lead single. But yah this is her first single all by herself. Ahh yeah I get your comments on how Normani could do an even more upbeat/tempo song and I think that would work moer in her favor. Yayy for the chorus love. ❤️

- Awww you don’t have to apologize. But ooh lol now my mother was singing and becoming obsessed with “Good As Hell” now. :lmao:

- I don’t know. I didn’t check for it but it should be. Lmaooo it is.

- Ahh yeah of course. You’re welcome. Oooh nooo, it’s all very different. :haha:

- Aww it’s okay. Ooh it does? It doesn’t for me but I love the song and knew all of the background to it so yeah. Aww I thought that was it but sorry there. You’re welcome. Gah yeah I wish I was warned there but oops. Oooh sorry.

- Oooh you did? Wow I haven’t heard CMAR on the radio in sooo long but omggg awww I love how it made you think of this convo. Sooo cool. :bye2: It would be!

- Yeahh I was like “dang wow, Denise is SO good here! :haha:” It was ~good laughter with dangg you are so spot on. Nothing bad. OMGGG WAIT WHATT? What are you trying to say and what do you think I’m thinking of to say about you here? Omg. :lmao: Oooh ahhh lmao wow….. I can’t really hear it? But i will try to take notice of this when I hear this Ariana song again and maybee need to listen to the *NSYNC song again too. Ooh hmmm, I see. That never really bothered me, as I never really thought of that and can love samples if it’s done in a good way. But I se your thoughts.

- Oooh. :giggle: Well done. Ooh gosh, lemme think. There’s “Crazy in Love” which is very obvious to me: giphy.gif. Normani has a white top and blue jeans (vs. Beyonce’s white top and blue jean shorts) and both do their walking forward scene. Then there’s “Baby one More Time” and “I’m Real Remix” on the scenes where they are at the outdoors basketball courts. fa802a1f42f2d3d0a279ca6a2a9ff401.gif and WXQWoT.gif. BOMT could be a stretch but def get the IRR parallel and parallels for both. I also feel like there are some Ciara video parallels on those scenes of Normani dancing in the rain…. I wanna say from Gimme That: BlindForthrightDutchshepherddog-size_res. But also found a buzz feed article on this too: https://www.buzzfeed.com/terrycarter/artists-normani-paid-tribute-to-in-her-motivation-video. And oh this link references other artists  references I did not spot. Ahhh mhmm yes. Omgg awww why nott? You gonna leave me hanging here. :bye2: Lol I guess i can be bummed about weird things - which sounds sooo weird now. :lmao: Yess… and aww yeah.

I am tooo. Hmmmm yeah I guess so. I just think I would have actually finished this list by the very beginning of February (aka by now) if we didn’t have breaks.  :haha: Wait does your links work in your thread? I feel like they didn’t from when I clicked them. But the URLs changed from the upgrade and is very different now so I guess that’s why they don’t work :(

I've had it finalized for a while and just finished posting the last one on Twitter last night. 😈 Which you would know if you used it!

Oooh lmao that's cool to learn. Interesting how you were wanting to do a least favorites list over a favorites list, unless you did that one too. :haha: Eh no need for me to use Twitter so I'm good without using it for now.
