Very happy with this duet...traditional country blending two top voices.  I am glad Scotty joined Calista for this well-written song.

Callista Clark and Scotty McCreery Duet On New Single “Gettin’ Old”

BY LESLEY HASTINGS

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Nashville based artist Callista Clark, who has just released her latest single “Gettin’ Old” Dreamcatcher Artists).

She has been teasing fans on her socials for a while asking for guesses as to who her duet partner on this song would be … front runners included her fiancée Garrett Jacobs …. but left it til last week to reveal that it was in fact Scotty McCreery, and a very popular announcement it was too, with Scotty commenting “excited to sing with ya” on Instagram.

Their voices work so well together on this beautiful ballad which berates a relationship that has not fulfilled its full potential but is stuck in a frustrating rut. Co-written by Callista, Averie Bielski and Karen Kasowski, Callista takes the first verse and sings about the “same routine that we don’t undo“,  and while on the surface nothing is really wrong between them we hear in the chorus how she feels that by now they should be “getting that first house … trading bands of gold”. The clever tag line explains that she thought they would be “getting old together“ but now their relationship is simply “getting old”.

Scotty takes the second verse, his deep, gravelly voice immediately contrasting brilliantly with Callista’s pure vocals. He’s in agreement that things aren’t going as his “hopelessromantic heart” had envisaged. He definitely hadn’t thought he’d be trying to read her mind while sitting on opposite sides of the couch, Callista also singing those lines therefore cleverly emphasising the fact they both feel the same way.

Their voices continue to blend and harmonise so well throughout the second chorus, which soars beautifully at the end.

In the break that follows, before the closing chorus, they voice the sad realisation that possibly the relationship has run its course, maybe they just don’t love one another any more.

The arrangement echoes the couple’s heartache (production credits shared by Frank Rodgers and Joey Hyde) and I’m confident that this release will be well received by fans of both artists and beyond.

Well Scotty's social media presence has definitely increased the last several months.  The latest is the incident at the Pueblo Co concert everywhere.  Lately it's on Youtube shorts or a Youtube post.  Everytime I log in a different post pops up.
