unpopular opinion: 

Casey Bishop is NOT ready and doesn't know who she is as an artist. she has no musical identity. the fact she likes rock music doesn't mean she is a rock singer and will be suited more for the classical jazz thing she did early in her audition. so far I see no connection to what she's singing but only bails out the high notes. you can't even understand what she is singing. the judges don't help her much with the over praising and should have never allowed her to get this far. they should have made her wait a few years to mature. this week she looked awkward and amateurish on stage. 

 

on the other hand you can say it about more than half of the contestants this year..

I hate my first post in the American Idol subforum to be putting someone down, but I just didn't get all the hype her solo was getting, she has a cool tone and I enjoyed her previous performances but her Top 24 solo was..... not it. :stealth:

Yeah, I love her tone, but her solo just wasn’t good imo. If she advances, I will be looking forward to her future performances.

actually I agree about this. 

plus chayce has something unpleasing in his voice. he's going to end up destroying his vocal chords if he continues singing like that.

Compared to Sam, Laine, and Maddie? She at least knows what SHE likes to sing. Not what other people tell her to sing. Jazz is good for things like Post Modern Jukebox but does it sell tickets or get songs on the radio? Sadly we know the answer to that...

She's 16 and killing it. Compared to some folks who just don't know what they want to sing from week to week.

She's like Allison Iraheta in a way. Only Allison got treated like crap by the judges and had barely any screen time prior to "Alone..."

 

 

I guess I stan her now because all of my other faves are gone. ;)

 

 

Oh, and here's my unpopular opinion...

 

Out of ALL the males? Murphy was the only one who made me look up and say... "Now that's a voice I'd buy music from..."

OK. I can offer something better than that. Hmm...


The "twist" is cool for ratings and giving the past season it's due but it could backfire in the casual Idol watcher fandom. IMO They'd be like this emoji. I think. >>> :whut:

all the 3 you mentioned knew exactly who they are. but it didn't help them much for post show success. mostly for lack of support from the label. 

 

comparing casey to allison is laughable. allison can put all the season 19 (except murphy) in her little pocket and there is still room for more.. as  I wrote the fact casey likes rock music doesn't mean she is a rock singer. she is a good singer. her vocals are good but i can't feel any connection to the lyrics. she is not mature enough to understand what she is singing. but having say that i actually enjoyed her BHS performance.. i just think she has a very long road to take to make it. 

 

your opinion of murphy is actually very popular. that is why so many outraged he didn't make it further. 

and since i don't care much for anyone this year i all on board for the twist.

This is one of the worst (collective) group of finalists Idol has ever assembled. Most of them are singing songs too big for them, arranging the songs horrible, or straining their voice too much to make their performances enjoyable.

 

The sad thing  it’s completely the fault of the judges for blowing smoke up everyone’s asses. They’re not all going to be superstars, and if the judges are too afraid to actually tell the contestants how to improve, then ABC needs to clean house and replace them.

Yeah I don't really understand your point tbh. I mean you can say she's not your cup of tea or you don't like her singing rock music, but to claim she doesn't know who she is as an artist and has no musical identity, when she has a clear point of view and lane imo, just because you don't think she's a rock singer and you think she's more suited for jazz is kind of a reach. Yeah, you might personally think she is more suited for jazz, but that doesn't mean that is or has to be her musical identity lol. If anything, the fact that she has stuck with rock the entire competition and has not strayed from it kind of negates your point imo. Her voice clearly fits rock so it's not a stretch for her to consider herself a rock artist. 

 

Compare her to Alyssa, Beane, Madison, Willie, and Grace who basically change genres every other week. I mean Ava just sang a Queen song after singing Driver's License last week (no pun intended lol).

SAME on Graham. He seemed like a nice dude and sang pretty decently. IMO

 

Caleb is a country anomaly right now but I don't think he will be a major contender. Just don't get that vibe.
