Special election Tuesday in MN US House 1st District. Finstad (R) has an 8 point lead, according to this poll. The seat is open due to the death of Rep. Jim Hagedorn (R). Finstad should be able to take it, but Gov. Walz (D) represented this district for 6 terms, so I wouldn’t call this a GOP lock.

Center for Legislative Accountability, an initiative of American Conservative Union Foundation, provides an evaluation of the voting records of every member of Congress and the lawmakers in all 50 states.

Stated Methodology:

The CLA's Ratings of Congress and the States illustrate how elected officials view the role of government in an individual's life. When determining a position on a particular issue, the CLA begins by defining conservatism: the political philosophy that sovereignty resides in the person. Then, we apply the Founders' belief that the proper role of government is to protect life, liberty and property.

In order to depict how closely a lawmaker adheres to conservative principles, the CLA selects from the full spectrum of issues relating to the economy, culture, national security and government integrity. Some key areas include taxation, spending, education, labor, licensure, regulation, environment, life, free speech, Second Amendment rights, foreign aid, defense priorities and global organizations, including the United Nations. All congressional and state analyses are conducted after the adjournment of a legislative session to ensure that no issue is neglected.

Each lawmaker is evaluated on a zero to 100 scale, with a score of 100 representing a voting record that is perfectly aligned with conservative principles.

Interesting to see the ratings on some of these Senators who are held up as strong conservatives. John McCain has a higher lifetime rating than Josh Hawley. Tom Cotton is slipping too. His was an 82 for 2021. I’m not surprised at all at the names I see toward the bottom of the Republican Senators. I doubt I even need to list them. Guess the bottom 5, chances are you’ll be right.

Pelosi ranking below AOC surprised me. It's not surprising that DeSantis ranks near the top, though.

Party leaders will often make compromise votes that hurt their overall numbers on these rankings. Obviously, that’s not the case with Pelosi. McConnell’s overall numbers aren’t that bad, honestly. His issue is that he won’t go on offense. If he was just another Senator, he’d be mostly fine, relatively speaking.

Here's an example of a 2021 defeated congressional budget amendment that American Conservative Union supported. Therefore it negatively affected the rating of the 42 Republicans, 48 Democrats, and 2 Independents who voted against it.

I agree with ACU and the 8 Republicans on this particular issue, but a person might not agree with all of ACU's classifications. Still, the website is a useful tool for voters. Can you imagine how long it took to compile the information?

The issues feature is handy.

Almost all of the replies to this tweet claim Rubio’s comments are anti-semetic. They seem to be focused on the phrase, “Soros-backed.” WTF? This is clearly a coordinated effort, and it is ridiculous.
