Oh, I'm SO GLAD to be back with more gossip to revive this thread.Â đŸ„°Â đŸ˜‚

Micah Iverson posted something very interesting, with several layers to it, to his Instagram account:

"Tayler should have won. I knew that from the moment I found out what I was singing. But Kelly chose me for some reason and I can't help but be grateful. @taylergreen you were incredible. Everyone, thanks for your kind words and support. I definitely have something to prove in the lives. #TeamKelly"

(He posted the same to YouTube with the extra tidbit saying, "Tayler should have won. I think we all know that.")

Yeah, we talked about this in the spoiler thread. I think it’s fine, but it does prove they don’t always get to choose their KO song.

Dang it, I thought I was the first to it... I haven't checked the spoiler thread yet. :(

In any case, I had a feeling that they don't choose their KO song after Jake HaldenVang basically spilled every little detail in his Twitter exposé last season. I think it's interesting, if a little depressing, that Micah is so self-deprecating here instead of embracing his victory. I also think it's fascinating when any contestant reveals the slightest amount of producer influence or the contestants' lack of choice in the process - even when it's obvious stuff, or when others have hinted towards it numerous times in the past, it's still interesting.

His KO frustrated me a lot because I thought both he and Tayler Green were absolutely phenomenal. In a perfect world, both of them would have gone through. I can't even say I have a preference; I've been listening to them both on repeat for almost the past hour. It's hard to settle for just one.

What's with this Jake HaldenVang's Twitter exposé? Does it have something to do about his "There's Nothing Holding Me Back" sh*t of a song choice?

It was so good. So, so good.

I wish I still had the screenshots from it. I think the posts are still on his Twitter account (God knows why he wouldn't have deleted them by now). It was related to that. Basically, it started when he made a post with one of his own personal songs, saying, "I wanted to share a sample of what I really do! Most of which, they didn't give as options in songs they assigned to me!" And then he explained in several posts that when he gave good performances, it was because he had total agency over his song choices. The producers wanted him to sing pop, which was why he gave those insipid and weak performances of "Turning Tables" and "There's Nothing Holding Me Back." He basically did the best he could with them, and then got eliminated.

He also retweeted and liked several posts relating to Gwen making the wrong decision for not making him her coach's choice and forcing him to be a wildcard.

Personally, I really loved him (I'm a sucker for rock singers on this show, and he was one of the best), and I could tell that there was some producer meddling explaining why he got such ridiculous song choices. But his Twitter posts weren't a good look; they kinda resembled biting the hand that feeds you, if you know what I mean. Like, we all know this show can be ridiculously unfair and that they force contestants on the bus if they don't want them (see: Shane Q and "Caribbean Queen"). Going on a Twitter rant that probably teeters on the edge of violating your contract is probably what I would WANT to do if I were him... but I wouldn't. 😂

Here's the thread containing some of the tweets:

First Jake, now TMH, I hate what this show does to some of itÂŽs rockers. I donÂŽt see TMH going on a rant like Jake did after he loses because of a pop song, but still , it sucks that they canÂŽt show their real artistry.

At least they let Ricky Duran do his thing on the show.

100% agree. For some reason, when it comes to the most recent rockers, they feel a need to force them into a pop avenue. No way in the world did Todd Michael Hall choose "Somebody to Love" by OneRepublic. Literally an unknown song from Songland. It's clear that they wanted to force one throwaway contestant to sing it to advertise their other NBC music show.

It's interesting to see how often the niche contestants who aren't country, pop, or Adult Contemporary are forced into weird lanes. TMH is probably not going to go on a rant, but I wouldn't blame him for wanting to. Ricky Duran is one of the only lucky rockers who got artistic freedom, and even then, he wasn't as "rock" as a lot of the ones who get bussed.

I think the last one before Ricky was probably Adam Pearce (S13) or Josh West (S12), neither of whom made Top 12. Rockers have a hard time on this show.

I agree, someone i remember that did have a good run was  Laith Al Saadi in S10,  and he remained blues/rock all the way. HeŽs still one of my favorite contestants ever on this show. But other that that, yeah, many  rockers are turned pop by the show and usually that ends up in their elimination.

It’s kind of ironic because Matt McAndrew, who was very much in the singer/songwriter mold on the show is now the lead singer of a hard rock band.

"Powerful" was one of the best performances of that ENTIRE season. I'm not exaggerating. It was so good. "Turning Tables" and "There's Nothing Holding Me Back" were horrible, at no fault of his own.

Seriously, what they did to him is the equivalent of making Jake Hoot sing Lady Gaga. It's interesting that people ignore or justify when rock singers are forced out of their lanes, but it's unfathomable for country singers to be forced out of theirs. And it should be. I didn't want Hoot to sing Gaga; that would have been humiliating. Everyone has their own style that they should be allowed to explore on the show without producers forcing them into weird lanes.

I didn't think he sounded awkward on Twitter, though; I thought he just sounded incredibly frustrated and betrayed. I'd probably feel the same way if I invested so much in a show that would then bus me, humiliating me by making me sing pop songs. I just also don't think it looked good to go on a rant about it, as understandable as it was.

Do you remember the season where they made a big deal about letting the contestants pick their Battle Round 2 songs? And it was a list of a whole whopping three songs.

~Reviving the thread~

(She clarified in a Tweet that the show treated/handled her very well - this is about an individual)

I had zero idea that happened but looking back, something did seem "off" with her during the KOs, though I kind of just assumed at the time it was nerves given the studio audience and the pressure to make it to the live shows. Mostly I remember how pissed people were when she left the show given how well her blind audition was received on iTunes.

I thought the established scuttlebutt was that she suffered from agoraphobia/panic attacks. “Seizures” sounds more medically specific.

That’s too bad. Too much time together during isolation in Montana? Will he continue manage her? This is complicated in more ways than one.

It would be hard for me to imagine them keeping a business relationship after a ultimately failed intimate one, but stranger things have happened I guess.  I think they will both land on their feet tho.

THE TEA YES HOLLY!

You think it was her KO partner?

Assuming that this fellow Voice contestant isn't her neighbor, it was likely said on social media. And if "smiled to themselves" is a direct quote, then it can be searched for. Unless said person has already deleted it.
