Especially if it’s gonna end with a worst-case scenario like season 27 did in the US. Ugh that's actually a really good season comparison. Lots of strong dancers but some noticeably weaker dancers keep surviving through. 1
*Amanda Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 (edited) Because of course we have to make it a trio of awful seasons with this after S**n and Mike stayed long past their expiration dates on DWTS and Strictly. LOL. Edited February 23, 2020 by *Amanda 1

LOL. Mike wasn't good but nowhere near as bad as Fr. Ray, Lindsay's most recent partner (can't remember his name), Grocery Store Joe or B*bby B*nes. Hardly the first time that a weak dancer has stuck around for a while on SCD - think Dave Myers, Jeremy Vine, Ed Balls etc. The only one from SCD in the same league as the real bad ones from DWTS IRL & DWTS USA was Ann Widdecombe, now her staying in for 10 weeks was tragic. *Amanda Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Oh, I know. I was just making the comparison that the much better dancers on both of those seasons became casualties while the weaker ones stuck around forever. Both managed to produce good winners, but it was a chore to get there with the way eliminations went.
*Wallace Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Yeah with Fr Ray in this and his terrible dancing, he makes me appreciate Mike Bushell much more. Although I get and understand Amanda’s point she was making. It’s definitely a chore watching the far weaker dancers outlasting so many strong dancers with potential. At least Australia is going well so far, though I know it's far too soon to speak on that. 1

Curtly Ambrose lasted way too long last year which is confusing as he didn't have a huge personality, couldn't dance and wasn't Australian. Tristan seemed to really struggle coaching him in the team dance week, and he's dealt with the likes of Nancy Grace, Jamelia and two partners over 65. Edited February 23, 2020 by DWTSFan2001 1 1
Walker359718 Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 (edited) I don't think there's much left that can save this season. It has been frustrating beyond belief. Just what will it take for Fr. Ray to go? Maybe much lower judges' scores. We need those 1's and 2's to come out more than ever now. Edited February 24, 2020 by Walker359718 1

I was wondering if he was a realy popular athlete in Australia to garner all those votes to make it so far. Oooh lol at this Tristan mention. Jamelia was his best and most capable partner of all of his DWTS/SCD shows though. Even if she wasn't as great as I thought she would have been. 3 hours ago, Walker359718 said: I don't think there's much left that can save this season. It has been frustrating beyond belief. Fr Ray had 1s and 2s early on and still made it through. I think the best option is to make sure there aren't any ties on the leaderboard or something - since DWTS Irl uses a rating point system, like Strictly does. 1
DWTSFan2001 Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 (edited) Just realised that it's team dances week next week. Now we're really in Season 27 territory. Also thinking that the continued presence of Fr. Ray is blinding people to the fact that Mary is still in and showing no signs of leaving, kinda like in Season 27 where people were so outraged about Joe that they forgot about Bones until it was too late and he ended up winning the MBT. Not comparing Mary to BB but worth noting. This show has already had a dud win, they can't have a repeat of that. EDIT - read on Digital Spy that Mary seems to have the Cha Cha. Looks like they may be trying to get her out. Edited February 24, 2020 by DWTSFan2001 1
*Amanda Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Could Fr. Ray be a B*bby situation where he’s so far ahead in votes that they’ve given up on trying to get him out? 1

It was def like that where Joe was getting most of the rage while Bobby ~escaped it more - until the finale and that win. And with Team Dances happening next week, apologies for whichever two that have to dance with Fr Ray. :fear: Lol I guess that they gave up on trying to get rid of Fr Ray, they're trying to get rid of Mary instead. 32 minutes ago, *Amanda said: Could Fr. Ray be a B*bby situation where he’s so far ahead in votes that they’ve given up on trying to get him out? Ughh I really do fear this. I was looking through some posts on Digital Spy regarding the public vote and they calculated that.... - Fr Ray was in one of the Top 3 spots. - Mary was in one of the Top 4 spots. I think Aidan was also in one of the Top 4 spots (or Top 5)? - Ryan and Grainne were in the Top 6, but likely only one was in the Top 4 (guessing that would Ryan, Grainne could have been 5th or 6th. Could be vice versa - with Grainne in Top 4 and Ryan 5th/6th) - Sinead was 5th/6th/7th in votes. - Lottie was 6th or 7th. So it is all worrisome. 1
*Wallace Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 My thoughts on the Week 8 dances! Lottie & Pasquale - American Smooth: I love “Big Spender,” as it’s such a big theatrical song and wow Lottie definitely owned this dance. I really loved how confident and strong she was owning the performance on the solo parts like a true Broadway/theater star. The in hold dancing was great and strong, and she moved so smoothly and effortlessly. Then there lots of great big and impressive lifts i loved and took the dance to another level. Really strong and fantastic dance from Lottie. It’s such a shame she landed in the bottom 2 scoring a 29. I really hope her votes pick up going forward because it would be a shame to lose her so soon. Sinéad & Ryan - Tango: I did see a lot of comments of how while Sinéad danced/perrformed the well, people felt she was stitched up with the lighting/costumes/song choice not making a big impression with the Orchestra - and it being hard to see the dance at times. Hmm guess i can kinda get but not really. I did think this was a really solid and strong Tango. Sinéad had great passion and chemistry with Ryan, and they danced very well in hold with good body contact and sync in movements with each other. I did think the dance progressed and got better/more powerful as it continued. Such a shame this is Sinéad’s last dance. Wonder if it’s a situation of Sinéad not having a strong fanbase or Ireland just never connecting with Ryan when he has strong contenders, or a mix of both. Also the 8s were fine but I do think this dance should have gotten at least one 9. Fr Ray & Kylee - Salsa: Well… the thing i like about this partnership is that Kylee is so fierce and hot that she commands all of my attention when I watch their dances. She works it soo much. An thank goodness because Fr Ray is and remains so terrible. Well, at least he had fun and that showed. But his dancing was very dancing Salsa by numbers. He was quite slow, lacking rhythm and hip action and the right energy for the dance. It was more comedic type of a Salsa rather than hot Salsa tat the song called for. I do feel terrible about the death threats he got as he does not deserve that at all but the Ireland public got to stop voting for him already. Oo those judges were nice with those 5s, should have been more 4’s, like Brian. Gráinne & Kai - Viennese Waltz: I had high hopes for Gráinne and the VW and thankfully she came through and proved me right here. This was such a gorgeous and stunning VW from them. Gráinne danced with such grace and elegance here. They were in hold through a good majority of the dance, and they moved and gelled so flowy as one unit. She had a great frame, in hold dancing, great footwork and moved so light on her feet. Also her poses throughout were gorgeous. The dance was like world class and reminds me of those Waltz dances you would see in the movies or something at an orchestra theme. Perfect for this theme! I do hope Gráinne’s votes are increasing because I’m happy with how well she’s doing and that a model can last awhile on this show, which Gráinne deserves. Aidan & Emily - Paso Doble: Hmmm I did expect Aidan to cope with the Paso better than what he did. Not discrediting him or anything because I did think he did well for the most part but there were some shaky parts. I did feel a lot of their partnering dancing was weird and there seemed to be some roughness to it, with them being so spaced and far apart there. Was that intentional? Aidan also seemed to have moments of being shaky and losing balance in his footwork. I do think Aidan did well with the character and actually, I loved all of their side by side dancing and his solo section was really strong. So yeah the dance felt inconsistent with first minute had on and off moments but the last 30 seconds was really strong and good. Mary & John - Tango: Oooh Mary got a fantastic Tango song for this theme. Surprisingly this was her first passionate intense type of dance. I thought Mary did fine with this dance. I do feel like it was one of her better dances although that is still like 6th best. I still feel she is so tense in her hold and something looks awkward and not right about it. Her dancing was fine…. she had some good and improved footwork but still had stiffness. I think she and John gelled well chemistry-wise for the most part. I didn’t like feel that strong passion I would want in a Tango but it was kinda there at times. Fair score with the 19. Ryan & Giulia - Contemporary Ballroom: I love “Life on Mars” and couldn’t wait for Ryan to get a Contemporary Ballroom, as I had a feeling this would slay. And boy, i was not wrong. Dang this was pretty amazing and impressive! I’m not sure of Ryan’s dance background but he definitely loos and moved like a proper Contemporary dancer. He had lots of solo moments and really shone there on a technical level with his movements, leaps, jumps, etc. Lie those sequences of pirouettes at the end…. he def has some dance training but that was so great! Ryan & Giulia have fantastic chemistry as always an d that really showed in this dance. There was a lot o trust she had in him with all o this jumps, lifts and tricks. And oo the actual ballroom dancing was really stunning and beautiful. Really an amazing dance and deserving of a 30. With Lottie landing in the Bottom, I think Ryan is gonna run away with this season and win, which would certainly be deserved. Rankings: Ryan & Giulia - Contemporary Ballroom Gráinne & Kai - Viennese Waltz Lottie & Pasquale - American Smooth Sinéad & Ryan - Tango Aidan & Emily - Paso Doble Mary & John - Tango Fr Ray & Kylee - Salsa There were a number of strong dances - with the Top 3 being amongst my favorite dances of the season so far.
*Wallace Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Week 9 spoilers are up! Aidan & Emily - Rumba to "One" — U2 Gráinne & Kai - Paso Doble to "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" — Meat Loaf Lottie & Pasquale - Samba to "Tip Toe" — Jason Derulo feat. French Montana Mary & John - Cha-Cha to "Young Hearts Run Free" — Candi Staton Fr Ray & Kylee - Quickstep to "I'm a Believer" — The Monkees Ryan & Giulia - Quickstep to "What a Man Gotta Do" — Jonas Brothers Team Swing Breakers (Aidan & Emily, Lottie & Pasquale and Fr Ray & Kylee) - "Sing, Sing, Sing" — Wolfgang Lohr feat. The Speakeasy Three Team Rhythm Rebels (Gráinne & Kai, Mary & John, Ryan & Giulia) - "Physical" — Dua Lipa Thoughts: - Hmmm I think some of the celebs got not so great fitting styles for them - such as Aidan’s Rumba, Gráinne’s Paso Doble and Mary’s Cha-Cha. - The Rumba is tough on a male so not sure how well Aidan will dance it but he could perform it decently. - Gráinne lacked the drama/intensity for her Tango, but then she brought that with her Contemporary Ballroom and she’s grown a lot since Week 1 so could be good. - Can’t see Mary doing too well with the Cha-Cha. - Lottie’s got such a difficult style with the Samba, as she really needs a comeback and strong scores to escape the Bottom 2. But she can dance anything well although she needs more than that. - Interesting at the Quickstep battle of Fr Ray vs Ryan. Of course Ryan is gonna win that and oooo love his song choice as I’ve been picturing that song for a Quickstep since it came out. - As for the groups, I just found this info via wiki. I think it’s evenly distributed as they have a young man, young woman and an older weaker dancer in each group. But poor Lottie and Aidan having to be saddled with Fr Ray. Ugh this week already got me worried for Lottie. Ryan/Grainne/Mary’s group seem stronger on paper as they have the stronger young male and stronger duffer dancer.. but we’ll see.
DWTSFan2001 Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 (edited) Oh FFS. He's now been in the show as long as BB & SS. Not gonna lie that I kinda hope he wins now so that this show is either cancelled and forgotten about or given a full revamp, easily the weakest link of the versions I've seen (well, maybe except NZ). Edited March 1, 2020 by DWTSFan2001 1
*Wallace Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Week 9 show just finished. Julian isn’t back so Darren filled in for him once again. Ryan & Giulia - Quickstep: 9/9/9 = 27 Mary & John - Cha-Cha: 6/6/6 = 18 Gráinne & Kai - Paso Doble: 8/9/9 = 25 Fr Ray & Kylee - Quickstep: 4/4/5 = 13 Aidan & Emily - Rumba: 8/7/8 = 23 Lottie & Pasquale - Samba: 9/10/10 Team Rhythm Rebels (Grainne, Mary, Ryan): 8/8/8 = 24 Team Swing Breakers (Aidan, Lottie, Fr Ray): 9/9/9 = 27 Thoughts: - Great scores for Ryan once again, even if a bit of a dip and looking forward to his QS. - Mary’s scores were higher than I expected for her with a Cha-Cha. - Expected Gráinne to take a dip with a Paso but looking forward to this one too. - Fr Ray’s QS scores are as expected. - I think a 23 is the highest score Aidan got for a Latin dance. Didn’t expect that good of a score for him with a Rumba. - Wow SLAY Lottie getting a 29 for a Samba, which beats out Cliona’s and Johnny’s highest scoring Sambas ever on DWTSIRL. - Lol shocked that Team Swing Breakers won the team dance as their team on paper is weaker but it happens. Bottom 2 + Elimination The Bottom 2 were Mary & John and Gráinne & Kai - with all of the judges voting to save Gráinne. Definitely the fair and right result between the two. As sweet as Mary is, she was quite an overstayer outlasting better dancers than her so well done to her making it this far. I’m also pleasantly surprised that Gráinne wasn’t in the Bottom 2 sooner as I always worried she’d be that robbed model that doesn’t get the votes. She’s now the longest lasting model of DWTS Irl Although ugh Fr Ray still remains safe. Now all the men have yet to land in the Bottom - which makes me feel certain Ryan and Aidan will make the finals. The last spot seems to be a toss-up between Lottie, Gráinne and Fr Ray. 1
*Wallace Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Oooh I was wondering about this because I saw them being together a lot recently when I would search through DWTSIrl media, but did you all know Johnny and Emily are an actual couple? I saw many pics of them together recently and saw through their instagram which confirmed it for me. Can’t say I ever really expected this (and I can't recall seeing legit romantic chemistry between them last season) but congrats and I am happy for them. Now I wonder how long they’ve been romantically together.
*Wallace Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Week 10 TV Themes Night spoilers Aidan & Emily - American Smooth - Top Cat Theme Grainne & Kai - Samba - Wonder Woman Theme Lottie & Pasquale - Paso Doble - Mission Impossible Theme Fr. Ray & Kylee - American Smooth - Father Ted Theme Ryan & Giulia - Charleston - The Muppet Show Theme There is also a Rock-Til-You-Drop marathon. Thoughts: - I can’t really recall Aidan’s or Fr Ray’s theme, but interesting how Fr Ray has the same style as someone else. Of course Aidan should win the AS battle. - Really worried for Grainne with the Samba. Not sure if she can escape the B2 with that style. -Lottie has an amazing song choice and expecting a really strong Paso from her. - Also love Ryan’s song and he should have another standout dance here too.
*Wallace Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 Week 10 TV Theme Night show just finished. Gonna post the scores and results. Ooh and Julian is still out sick - 3 weeks now. Gráinne & Kai - Samba: 7/8/7 = 22 Fr Ray & Kylee - American Smooth: 5/5/5 = 15 Ryan & Giulia - Charleston: 10/10/10 = 30 Lottie & Pasquale - Paso Doble: 9/9/10 = 28 Aidan & Emily - American Smooth: 8/8/9 = 25 Rock Til-You-Drop Results Lottie - +5 (won) Ryan - 4 Aidan - 3 Gráinne - 2 Fr. Ray - 1 Bottom 2 was Fr. Ray & Kylee vs. Lottie & Pasquale Of course all of the judges voted to save Lottie, so she’s safe and Fr. Ray is eliminated. I feel so bad for Lottie. But finally, Fr Ray goes! Got a great Top 4! So it’s looking like Ryan and Aidan will for sure be finalists, so could be between Lottie and Gráinne, as they have been in the Bottom 2 - but anything could happen.
*Amanda Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 FINALLY. I was getting increasingly worried that this was gonna turn into a B*bby B*nes situation. Glad we avoided that. 2
