It proved that Kylee isn't one of the best pros while Giulia is one of th stronger pros as Fr Ray by far had his highest scores.

I get that he's trying to defend his wife but a bad move doing that on SM especially since none of the criticisms of Kylee were vitriolic. He's clearly a newbie to TV and perhaps had no idea about the criticisms that can come with starring in it.
*Wallace Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Finally got around to watching Switch Up week show. My thoughts..... Mary & Ryan - Jive: This was a cute and fun dance from Mary. Sadly with a Jive, I was expecting this to be a difficult and not so good dance, and yeah that was the case. This Jive was rough. Mary did seem very stiff and lacked leg action and barely had kicks and flicks in here. It wasn’t good technically, but she’s adorable with how happy she was through the dance so at least she performed it decently. Ryan & Laura - Waltz: This was another really good dance from Ryan and he’s proving he can dance and do anything well. I do think his technique and partnering of Laura was really strong and good and he had great lines and elegance throughout. I did feel a lack of chemistry between them and it felt like Ryan was concentrating a little too much on the steps rather than feeling and breathing the dance like usual. At least that was how I felt, but still great dancing. Fr Ray & Giulia - Charleston: It’s very telling how Fr Ray had his best dance with Giulia, and this is making me really appreciate Giulia as a pro/choreographer. I mean Fr Ray still pretty much walked and ran through the routine and his swivels and footwork wasn’t really there. But i did think this style suited in the sense that he got to be carefree and really perform and have fun with the dance. I did feel more chemistry with him here with Giulia than Kylee, admitally I was only able to watch like two of their dances. Sinéad & John - Viennese Waltz: Oooh I really like this switch-up partnership of Sinead & John and honestly wouldn’t have minded them as a legit partnership. But this was wow…. what a steamy and passionate Viennese Waltz this was. It definitely had a sexy Tango feel to it in sections - with the aggressiveness in the choreo and their characterization. But the in hold dancing was very smooth and graceful like the way a VW should be Sinead had really good footwork and frame and she dance it very effortlessly. And they had such insane chemistry in this too. Aidan & Kylee - Cha Cha: I did feel the party Latin styles would trip Aidan up and sadly I felt that was the case here. Hmmm I felt that Aidan danced and performed this in such a forced way and there wasn’t the sense of naturalness he would have in his dances. I felt the sexiness he was trying to give off felt forced and not him and there were some awkward and stiff moments in the dance - with the upper body and lacking hip action. I did like the routine and Kylee looked and danced fiercely in this. But also didn’t sense much chemistry here either. Brian & Kai - Quickstep: I never would have imagined an all male same sex Quickstep but love that we got to see so on DWTSIrl. This was a really fun and great routine that Kai pitched for Brian. Brian is interesting to me because I feel he does really well on the solo side by side dancing parts, but when he gets in hold, he’s kinda sloppy and not as strong or comfortable there. I felt he was a bit carried around by Kai but I did think Brian got better in the hold parts towards the end. They had really good chemistry and lots o fun in this, especially in the out of hold parts. Definitely Brian’s best dance. Gráinne & Pasquale - Rumba: I never pictured “Beautiful People” for a Rumba so that’s an interesting song choice. I do think it’s a rough call to get a Rumba on Switch-Up week and don’t think this quite worked for Gráinne. She did dance this in a very pretty way and had some nice shapes and fluidity in there, but the main thing was that I felt there wasn’t much romantic or believable chemistry from them. It lacked that passionate needed for the style. Gráinne did seem a bit stiff/still and hesitant in parts and like there wasn’t much for her to do in parts. But still some parts were decent but one of her weaker dances. Lottie & Emily - Charleston: Love having an all female same sex Charleston too. I never imagine this song to a Charleston - and lol Emily getting two show closing Charlestons back to back, when they weren’t traditional Charlestons either. Well I didn’t even care this time around because I loved this and thought this was an insanely hot dance! I mean even though this dance felt more like a Jazz, there were some Charleston steps in there which Lottie executed very strongly. And overall Lottie & Emily’s energy and dancing matched each other so well. They were hitting moves so hard and had lots of cool tricks and moves in there - and I saw some Single Ladies steps in there which of course i am here for. Hot dance and they slayed! Rankings: Lottie & Emily - Charleston Sinéad & John - Viennese Waltz Ryan & Laura - Waltz Brian & Kai - Quickstep Gráinne & Pasquale - Rumba Aidan & Kylee - Cha Cha Fr Ray & Giulia - Charleston Mary & Ryan - Jive (Fr Ray and Mary are pretty much tied for me, but I'll give Fr Ray the edge as this was his best dance.)
*Wallace Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Hopefully someone is able to find Sinéad’s and Gráinne’s dances. I couldn't find them.
*Wallace Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Week 7 Songs & Styles spoilers are revealed! Songs + Styles: Aidan & Emily - Contemporary Ballroom - Someone You Loved - Lewis Capaldi Brian & Laura - Tango - When Doves Cry - Prince Grainne & Kai - Quickstep - Paper Rings - Taylor Swift Lottie & Pasquale - Viennese Waltz - One Of A Kind - R Keating/Emile Sande Mary & John - Viennese Waltz - What Have I Done? - Dermot Kennedy Fr Ray & Kylee - Jive - Build me Up Buttercup - The Foundations Ryan & Giulia - Salsa - Perfect Strangers - Jonas feat. JP Cooper Sinead & Ryan - Samba - La Isla Bonita - Hr Troels Thoughts: - Aidan’s got a really great draw with that dance style + song choice. I can definitely see him making one of the biggest improvements of the week. - Love the song for Brian’s Tango. - I don’t know Grainne’s song but i know the Taylor stans will be here for her dance. Hoping she makes an improvement this week which I think is likely. - Interesting how Lottie and Mary both have the Viennese Waltz. Obviously Lottie’s will and should be stronger. Interesting how Mary has the VW after having the Waltz two weeks ago, that should work in her favor for improving over her Jive. - Fr Ray getting a Jive is #yikes, but it’s one of the better Latin dances he could get. Not gonna be good but he could perform and have fun with it. - Looking forward to Ryan having another party dance with the Salsa and also having a fun dance after he had two serious/romantic dances. - Sinead with the Samba worries me as she didn’t nail the Cha-Cha but hoping for an improvement from that. 1
taylorkat Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 (edited) Omg @ Grainne's dance to that song. Edited February 13, 2020 by taylorkat
*Wallace Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Thee Week 7 show is going on and ooh it’s a theme week, Love week! Gráinne & Kai - Quickstep: 8/8/9 = 25 Aidan & Emily - Contemporary Ballroom: 7/8/8 = 23 Mary & John - Viennese Waltz: 5/5/6 = 16 Brian & Laura - Tango: 5/5/5 = 15 Ryan & Giulia - Salsa: 9/9/9 = 27 Fr Ray & Kylee - Jive: 5/5/5 = 15 Sinéad & Ryan - Samba: 8/8/8 = 24 Lottie & Pasquale - Viennese Waltz: 9/9/10 = 28 Pre-watch thoughts: - Glad to see Gráinne and Aidan improve on their scores, like I was expecting them to with their dances. - Yikes Brian taking a huge tumble in scores when reunited with Laura. Not too surprising since in-hold ballroom isn’t his strongest suit. - Fr Ray's scores improving scares me. Maybe the judges are scoring him higher to lessen his vote and send him out on a high note or it could make the Ireland public vote more for him. - Wow very pleased for Sinéad getting a 24 for her Samba. I was really worried for her with that style. - Ryan & Lottie continue on killing it and can’t wait to see both of their dances! The Bottom 2 should be announced soon.
*Wallace Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Ooh I forgot the last week’s and this week’s scores were combined so those would be…. Lottie & Pasquale - 26+28 = 54 Ryan & Giulia - 25+27 = 52 Sinéad & Ryan - 27+24 = 51 Gráinne & Kai - 18+25 43 Aidan & Emily - 18+23 = 41 Brian & Laura - 23+15 = 38 Mary & John - 14+16 = 30 Fr Ray & Kylee - 14+15 = 29 The Bottom 2 in the Dance-Off are (the rest will be below): Brian & Laura and Sinéad & Ryan. Brian & Laura eliminated. Wow super shocked and disappointed Sinéad landed down there. I thought Gráinne was gonna be the talented dancer we’d have to worry about but looks like it’s Sinéad. Obviously all of the judges voted to save Sinéad, which means Brian is gone. Sad for him to go as he deserved to stay over a few others but not over Sinéad.
taylorkat Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 ^Ouch...I'm afraid of what that means for upcoming weeks. (concerning a certain someone in the bottom)
DWTSFan2001 Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 When will Fr. Ray leave? Marty made it to Week 8 so hopefully next week is Fr. Ray's swan song. Getting ridiculous now that he's still in. 1
*Amanda Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 @*Wallace, spoiler tags exist now. They're much easier to read than white text, especially on mobile devices. UGH at Sinéad being being in the bottom. She did not deserve that. There's clearly a divide between Fr. Ray & Mary and the rest of the celebs as far as dance ability is concerned, and I feel like both (especially Fr. Ray) will outstay their welcome while we start to lose the good ones 1

And yeah there is a definite clear divide between Fr Ray and Mary and Lottie/Ryan/Sinéad/Grainne/Aidan. If those two go next, hopefully, then we could have a really strong and tight Top 5. Fingers crossed. 1

Sinéad being in the bottom 2 despite being much higher on the leaderboard than both of them doesn't give me much hope. Anyway, Paper Rings makes for a perfect Quickstep song. I totally didn't expect it to be used on any of these shows since it's not one of Taylor's singles from the album, but I'm glad it was and I thought Grainne did a really good job with it. 1

Ugh yeah that is definitely worriesome. I think/hope she can have some weeks of avoiding the Bottom 2 and hopefully two really good/talented dancers aren't there together. From what I saw on Digital Spy and someone that knows the calculations breakdown.... it was speculated that.... Brian was 5th,6th, 7th or 8th in votes. Sinead was 6th, 7th or 8th in votes. Fr. Ray was 1st, 2nd or 3rd in votes. Mary and Aidan were 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th in votes. Only one of Grainne/Lottie/Ryan was in the top 4! If this is all true, definitely all worriesome, as the stronger dancers aren't getting the votes. :shiver: Hopefully that changes. Hoping to watch the dances sometime tonight. Although only 5 of them are up - and couldn't find Lottie, Brian's or Fr Ray's dances yet.
*Wallace Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 Week 8 Live Orchestra spoilers are up! Aidan & Emily - Paso Doble - 'Pompeii' by Bastille Grainne & Kai - Viennese Waltz - 'Waltz of the Flowers' by Tchaikovsky Lottie & Pasquale - American Smooth - Big Spender by Shirley Bassey Mary & John - Tango - 'Por Una Cabeza' by Carlos Gardel Fr. Ray & Kylee - Salsa - 'Hot Hot Hot' by The Merryman Ryan & Giulia - Contemporary Ballroom - 'Life on Mars' by David Bowie Sinead & Ryan - Tango - 'Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)' by Eurythmics Thoughts: - I think the celebs, for the most part, got very good and fitting styles for them. - Aidan probably got the best Latin style for him. - Grainne is really good at ballroom an had a beautiful Contemporary ballroom - so expecting her VW to be beautiful. - Lottie’s got a big great song and should nail the dance. - Ballroom is good for Mary, though I think this is her first serious/passionate dance so curious to see how she handles this. - Fr. Ray with the Salsa is the true yikes dance of the week, and once again just hoping that he can finally go. - Ryan with the Contemporary Ballroom should be amazing and possibly dance of the night. - Sinead is great with ballroom and bringing drama to her dance, so should be a great Tango. Having really high hopes this week.
*Wallace Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Finally got around to watching the Week 7 show, so some thoughts.... Gráinne & Kai - Quickstep: I feel awkward being one of the only ones not to know “Paper Rings” but I knew the T-Swift stans would be here for this. The storytelling of this was fun and super cute, and it seemed to take a little while o get into the Quickstep portions. But once it got there, it was a really good and solid Quickstep. Gráinne was light and quick on her feet and she just has this great infectious happy energy when she dances and performs. They moved and gelled together well in hold too. Ooh and it’s interesting how Kai has done the only two Quicksteps of the season so far - both were so different too. This was cute and fun dance for sure. Aidan & Emily - Contemporary Ballroom: Aidan got a great popular song choice for this style… and kinda love that he got this as he reminds me a bit of Lewis Calpaldi in spots. This was a really beautiful dance though. Aidan was very expressive in his movements and emotional connection in the dance. I do think Emily shone a lot here and was stunning but Aidan brought his own and did well here too. There were a lot of cool tricks, especially that one move at 1:13 where she bent backwards and he supported her with his feet and arms - I don’t know how to describe it but it was cool. And yeah the chemistry felt so raw an real. I think it probably lacked and didn’t have enough ballroom elements but that’s the only thing. Mary & John - Viennese Waltz: This was a sweet and charming dance from Mary. She performed it nicely and got into the character well. Her dancing is still….. not the smoothest and still rough around the edges. Like I felt this dance was very cautious and careful and it seemed quite slow in dancing and movements, for a VW and with the song. It was fine and probably one of Mary’s better dances. I’m stuck between 5s and 6s on this one. Brian & Laura - Tango: N/A Ryan & Giulia - Salsa: Ooh lol I saw lots of complaints on Ryan’s outfits, which…. I do get. These outfits work better for a Jive but are weird outfits for a Salsa. Okay now that my slight shallow comment is out of the way, it does make sense for the library themed dance. This was a really great and fun Salsa from Ryan. He had great rhythm, energy, partnering skills and a great sense of naturalness dancing and performing this dance. Ooh and the lifts he did in this was impressive, I especially loved the lifts at the start. I would have loved this more without the theme and a more auenthic Salsa which he could nail but still a really strong and fun dance Fr Ray & Kylee - Jive: N/A Sinéad & Ryan - Samba: I’m so glad Sinéad did really well with this Samba, as I worried for her with the party Latin dances. Although ugh sadly this did nothing for her in votes so that is upsetting. This was a really fun and entertaining routine and Ryan gave Sinéad a lot of intricate and difficult choreography to handle. Sinéad brought a lot of and channeled her hotness with this dance, and that surprised me here even despite her VW from the previous week. Sinéad did well with all of the partnering work and side by side dancing, had lot so rhythm and energy. The only thing/issue i would say is that on some of the side by side parts, she didn’t look so confident and kinda kept looking at Ryan like a sense of unsureness. I felt that like 2 or 3 times, but besides that - lots of difficult steps she did well on. Lottie & Pasquale - Viennese Waltz: N/A Rankings: Ryan & Giulia - Salsa Gráinne & Kai - Quickstep Sinéad & Ryan - Samba Aidan & Emily - Contemporary Ballroom Mary & John - Viennese Waltz N/A Brian & Laura - Tango Fr Ray & Kylee - Jive Lottie & Pasquale - Viennese Waltz Really enjoyed the Top 4 dances in my rankings. Hoping I can get to see Lottie’s and Brian’s dances soon.
*Amanda Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 I hope Julian gets better soon. Darren is a good choice for his fill-in.
*Wallace Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Aww Julian Hope he gets well soon. But yeah Darren is a great fill in judge.
*Wallace Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Week 8 performances are finished. Scores... Lottie & Pasquale - American Smooth: 9/10/10 = 29 Sinéad & Ryan - Tango: 8/8/8 = 24 Fr Ray & Kylee - Salsa: 4/5/5 = 14 Gráinne & Kai - Viennese Waltz: 10/10/10 = 30 Aidan & Emily - Paso Doble: 7/7/7 = 21 Mary & John - Tango: 6/6/7 = 19 Ryan & Giulia - Contemporary Ballroom: 10/10/10 = 30 - Well done to Gráinne pulling a Cliona on scoring the first perfect 30 with a Waltz on Orchestra Night. i am sure her dance was absolutely beautiful. Also kinda love that she got the first perfect 30 as you would expect it to be Lottie or Ryan. - Speaking of well done to Ryan getting a perfect 30, which I would have expected with this theme and style. Looking forward to all of Gráinne, Lottie or Ryan’s dances. - Good scores for Mary... and just okay scores for Aidan. Bottom 2 and Dance-Off should be revealed soon. Very nervous for Sinéad. She should be fine as long as Lottie, Ryan and Gráinne are all safe. Gah just hoping Fr Ray can finally go but won’t get my hopes up too high.
*Wallace Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Bottom 2 got revealed. Yikes The Bottom 2 is Lottie & Pasquale vs. Sinéad & Ryan . We’re never gonna get rid of Fr Ray at all. And with this Bottom 2, it’s gonna be bye to Sinéad. People have been saying Lottie has been favored and pimped like whoa on the show - with 3 show closing spots….yet she’s in the Bottom 2. Sigh. Gah this was such a strong seson of dancing and it’s gonna get messed up with this elimination order.
*Amanda Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 (edited) LOL. Delete this season TBH. Especially if it’s gonna end with a worst-case scenario like season 27 did in the US. Edited February 23, 2020 by *Amanda 1
*Wallace Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Just refreshed the wiki page and other social media/forums and yea..... it's official that Sinead is gone now. The season can be redeemed with a Lottie/Ryan/Grainne Final 3 but I doubt one of the girls will make it and Aidan will be in there, which I can be fine with as i like him. But blah Fr Ray an Mary really got to go.
DWTSFan2001 Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 As of next week, Fr. Ray will have participated in the same number of weeks as Grocery Store Joe. If he survives next week (which seems likely at this point!), he'll have been in as long as B*bby B*nes. Disastrous series, they need to find a way to send Fr. Ray home, stat. 2
