*Wallace Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Week 2 dances are officially announced! Aishah & Robert - Salsa to "Deep Down" by Alok, Ella Eyre and Kenny Dope Danny & Salome - Charleston to "Don't Blame it On Me" by Michael Bublé Elaine & Denys - Paso Doble to "Standing in the Way of Control" by Gossip Gearóid & Stephen - Cha-Cha to "Disco Inferno" by The Trammps Jack & Alex - Cha-Cha to "Rush" by Troye Sivan Joanna & Maciej - Waltz to "Moon River" by Barbra Streisand Kayleigh & Ervinas - Viennese Waltz to "Timeless" by Meghan Trainor Kevin & Rebecca - Samba to "Volare" by Gipsy Kings Mickey Joe & Daniela - Jive to "Mickey" by Toni Basil Rhys & Laura - Tango to "Tanguera" by Sexteto Mayor Yasmin & Simone - Foxtrot to "Birds of a Feather" by Billie Eilish Thoughts: - Yess I'm so excited and here for Aishah having the Salsa! I don't know her song but looking forward to how she does with this style. - Don't really know or remember Danny's song but I think the Charleston should suit him. Salome tends to manage to get a good Charleston out of her partners, so I'm hopeful for Danny here. - I vaguely remember Elaine's Paso song but don't know it too well. Looking forward to seeing a completely different side of her. - It's interesting how Gearóid and Jack both got the Cha-Cha. Gearóid got an older classic song while Jack got a modern current song. Looking forward to them letting loose and having fun... and seeing how they do with this style. - The Waltz should suit Joanna MUCH better. Or at least I hope so and hope this will be a better dance from her. - Hmmm, I'm not quite sure of how Kayleigh will take on the Viennese Waltz. Looking forward to seeing a softer side of her. I know her so far as a fun, bubbly, big personality so yeah curious how this goes. - LOL YES I'm kinda here for Kevin having the Samba. Here's hoping that he gives us this week's hot mess trainwreck dance. - LOL Of course Mickey Joe would get a Jive to "Mickey." Oh why did I not predict that? Wow he's like the only one not to go from a ballroom to Latin or vice versa, he got two Latins right off the bat. After his Paso, I'm not as convinced or sure how good this will be. But it's a song with his name so he should be able to embrace it. - Oooh nicee that Rhys got a traditional Tango song. Hoping this will be a steamy and good dance from him. - Oooh lol wow, we're already getting our 2nd Foxtrot to "Birds of a Feather" and a 3rd routine to that song on these DWTS shows. Love the song and I think/hope the Foxtrot suits Yasmin better. I can see her improving here, or at least I hope so. 1
*Wallace Posted January 12 Posted January 12 About an hour until the Week 2 show! Excited to see how everyone does this week!

*Wallace Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Week 2 scores: Gearóid & Stephen - Cha-Cha: 6/7/7/8 = 28 Mickey Joe & Daniela - Jive: 3/5/3/3 = 14 Kayleigh & Ervinas - Viennese Waltz: 7/7/7/8 = 29 Kevin & Rebecca - Samba: 2/4/3/4 = 13 Yasmin & Simone - Foxtrot: 6/7/6/7 = 26 Rhys & Laura - Tango: 8/8/8/8 = 32 Joanna & Maciej - Waltz: 5/6/6/6 = 23 Elaine & Denys - Paso Doble: 5/6/6/6 = 23 Jack & Alex - Cha-Cha: 8/8/8/8 = 32 Aishah & Robert - Salsa: 6/7/7/7 = 27 Danny & Salome - Charleston: 9/9/9/9 = 36 - Here I was impressed with Rhys' and Jack's scores and thinking they were the frontrunners and that the competition was between them up until.... - LOL Oh dangg, I was not expecting Danny to outclass everyone this week. Salome is known to get great Charlestons out of everyone but wowzers. - Happy for Joanna to make a massive improvement, like I knew she could. Hoping she can avoid the first elimination - Wow Mickey Joe's and Kevin's low scores. Can't wait for their trainwrecks, lmao. No elimination tonight. They'll all dance again next week and all 3 weeks' scores + audience votes will be combined to determine the first elimination of the competition.
Abe1818 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Also what is this show's obsession with putting skinny men in these horrible ripped shirts. First Rhys, Now Jack 1

Abe1818 Posted Monday at 10:24 PM Posted Monday at 10:24 PM David's Week 2 Charleston last year was better than Danny's. Even Paul's that also got all 9s was better than it too. Probably Salome's weakest Charleston? 1

Ariel1989 Posted Tuesday at 03:02 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 03:02 PM Week 2 Thoughts and Rankings Gearóid & Stephen (Cha-Cha): Great energy and connection, Gearóid is proving to be a versatile performer. I did see some anticipation from him like Brian said but that should be easily fixed given their great partnership. Mickey Joe & Daniela (Jive): Well, the synchronicity was better and the song was fun; he’s still messy and Daniela is dancing way too hard next to him which makes him look weaker. Mickey Joe should really get a slow ballroom next week, the back-to-back high-energy Latins are not doing either of them any favors. Kayleigh & Ervinas (Viennese Waltz): Another contestant proving their versatility, Kayleigh had some beautiful moments especially in hold. I did see some posture breaks when going in and out in hold and I would’ve preferred more in hold because she’s really lovely in it, overall a good first ballroom. Kevin & Rebecca (Samba): Oof, that was rough, his feet were a mess and he struggled a lot with the timing. Rebecca seems like a good partner though, her energy appears infectious because at least Kevin was matching her in that department. Yasmin & Simone (Foxtrot): Really liked how Simone choreographed so much in hold, felt like a Foxtrot from the early days of Strictly. Yasmin dances very pretty, I am a bit worried that the slowness of both the Foxtrot and song as well as her reserved personality might make her forgettable when eliminations start. Rhys & Laura (Tango): Loved the traditional music and choreography, Rhys danced it brilliantly. The dance of the night so far, didn’t really agree about the drag hindering the dance. Joanna & Maciej (Waltz): So happy that she danced so much better this week, especially since the story behind the dance was beautiful. I’m liking Maciej, he seems like a good partner for her. Elaine & Denys (Paso Doble): Denys’ pants were a bit distracting haha. I agree that her balance was a bit off and she could use some refinement but she is great at playing the character. Jack & Alex (Cha-Cha): Wow, just wow. If this is what Alex can get out of Jack in Week 2, what he going to be like by the Final? Aishah & Robert (Salsa): The lift mounts and dismounts were a little on the clunky side but other than that, she’s showing potential in Latin. I think when she gets a Cha-Cha or Samba with no lifts, she’s going to nail it. Danny & Salome (Charleston): Okay, it was better than I was expecting, I’ll give him that. What I didn’t like was the lack of Charleston swivels which makes the 9s, especially compared to Jack and Rhys’ scores, seem like overkill; I can see his scores taking a drop next week, especially if he gets a Latin. My Rankings 1. Jack & Alex 2. Rhys & Laura 3. Kayleigh & Ervinas 4. Gearóid & Stephen 5. Aishah & Robert 6. Yasmin & Simone 7. Danny & Salome 8. Elaine & Denys 9. Joanna & Maciej 10. Mickey Joe & Daniela 11. Kevin & Rebecca 1
*Wallace Posted Tuesday at 10:06 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:06 PM I watched the show/dances just a bit ago, so I'm ready to post my thoughts! Week 2 Thoughts! Gearóid & Stephen - Cha-Cha: I was worried for Gearóid with the Cha-Cha, as I wasn't sure how well the Latin dances would suit him. lol his comments on how the dance will click to him on Monday. That would be too late. But this was a really fun Cha-Cha from Gearóid ! I liked how he really let loose and had fun here. He did well with the side by side sections, as well as the partnering new yorkers - I really liked those. I also liked how Gearóid & Stephen brought the cheesy fun disco style with this Cha-Cha and it really suited them! I do agree with Brian that Gearóid still lacks some confidence ont he parts where he's alone, which is understandable as this is all still so new to him. Ooh interesting of these scores being 6/7/7/8 for a 28. Yeahh I do agree with the 7s and this overall score of 28, so that works for me. I would go with a 27 or 28. Mickey Joe & Daniela - Jive: LOL it's so shocking that the producers made Mickey Joe dancing a Jive to "Mickey." That just HAD to happen. Ooof, I really do worry about Mickey Joe with a super fast paced Latin dance. Now why didn't Mickey Joe attempt to shoot the basketball into the hoop? I wanna know. Lol the high school athlete/cheerleader theme was cute and cheesy. Mickey Joe has great energy and good performing skills and he sold the character well. Sadly, his dancing and technique was quite bad. His footwork was flat footed and just all over the place. His kicks did lack retraction and finesse, and he was just kicking about. He did seem to lose some energy as the dance progressed. I do think he needs to tidy things up and work on his technique to get the dances being better. The judges all made fair criticism. Interesting how this got 3 3's and a 5, for a 14. Hm I think that's a fair and fine score. I'm so shook by the 3s though. I would probably give a 4. Kayleigh & Ervinas - Viennese Waltz: I love that Kayleigh got a completely difference dance from her Jive, so I'm looking forward to her Viennese Waltz. LOL her comments of her lack of elegance. Kayleigh does come across as an exciting/fun person and not so much elegant.... so this dance was a really nice surprise! This was a really pretty and lovely dance. She connected and performend beautifully and emotionally to the dance. She also provided a stunning and lovely frame and moved in a rather elegant and graceful way. She did seem a little skippy in some sections when they were driving/dancing across the floor. Otherwise her footwork was good. Kayleigh's proved again that she's got great potential. Three 7s and an 8 are great for her - I do agree with the 7s and maybe the one 8, so I'd go with a 28 or 29. Kevin & Rebecca - Samba: LMAOO I lowkey couldn't wait to see Kevin's Samba as I want and am expecting trainwreck glory, so please don't let me down, Kevin! lmaoo these dance rehearsals from Kevin got me so embarrassed for him. lol Rebecca is adorable with her reactions of his dancing and trying to teach him this dance. #bless their hearts! Kevin's guitar playing was the best part from him here. And Rebecca looked great and I enjoyed how she danced this. But OMGG Kevin! I don't know what he was doing. His feet were moving so fast in like this panicking pace - and like his feet were trying to keep up with her but he was quite off beat and out of time. And also flat footed and lacked the Samba bounce. But I do like the comedy and fun that he had here. Oh dear, there were a few mishand placements in there, oops. OK I see him attempting some hip action in there towards the end. Props to Kevin there. Okay... yeah this dance was BAD but it was an entertaining trainwreck and I appreciate that! Why is the audience booing Brian - this dance was iconic but NOT for the right reasons. Yikes @ Brian's 2. Omg Arthur gives Kevin a 4 but Mickey a 3 - Arthur HATES Mickey, confirmed. But okay this got a 13, which I think I agree with. I would give this a 3 though. Yasmin & Simone - Foxtrot: I think the slow ballroom dances will suit Yasmin better, so I'm hopeful for her this week. The rehearsals have a positive feel about how things were going for them. I love "Birds of a Feather" for this dance as well. I thought Yasmin showed a nice little improvement here. This was a very slow, precise and technical Foxtrot here. Yasmin did have some good smooth footwork and seemed to dance it very well. There did seem a few moments where it looked a litttle unsteady here and there. I do think she was a little too reserved and laid back in it, which I get for it being a slower dance. But it was very nicely and beautifully done. She looked really beautiful here too. AH I do find myself agreeing with Ariel on Yasmin's run/how she's coming across. So far, Yasmin has been doing well and is a good middle of the road dancer, but I fear for her as she may not stand out overall. I think she's done well enough to avoid being the first boot but I could see her within the first 3 eliminations. I just fear we won't really get to see her true potential. I don't want that for her but I already fear it. I think the mix of 6s and 7s for a 26 is fair. Rhys & Laura - Tango: I'm excited to see how Rhys does with a dark and moody Tango. Once again, I'm loving seeing all of these different sides of the celebs. I can actually see the ballroom dances really suiting Rhys. The rehearsals looked promising, up until that part of him dragging and picking Laura up from the floor. But obviously that's something I bet he can perfect until show time. But yessss at them dancing to traditional Tango music! The beginning with them dancing with the silhouettes.... this is already so good! And the rest of the dance was SO good! Parts of it even gave me chills! But yeah Rhys danced this really well and proved to be a great leading man here! He had a great frame, he danced it really strongly and well in hold. He had sharp, precise footwork with a lot of good staccato action in there. I agree with Brian with being really impressed as I didn't know he had this intense and moody character in him! I just loved how in sync he was with Laura. lol the judges commenting on the dragging part looking awkward at the end, which I get, but it didn't really bother me. I did feel a lot of passion towards that ending, which was great. Yayy Rhys getting straight 8s (but also got feedback on stuff to work on) for a 32. I do agree with that score. Joanna & Maciej - Waltz: I'm happy for Joanna getting the slow Waltz as I do think this is a perfect redemption dance for her to get. Aww Joanna's story of this being one of her mother's favorite song and learning to play it on the piano after her passing. Aww what a touching story there. Aww yeah this was a really lovely and touching dance from Joanna. It was slow, delicate and I like how she took her time with dancing this. The frame and footwork wasn't perfect but it was nice enough, for sure. Parts of it did seem a little hesitant and it seemed like her shoulders did rise a bit. But what was most important is that she danced with emotion and meaning. Lovely dance from Joanna. The scores of 5/6/6/6 for a 23 seem good and fair for her. I do agree with the 6s, so this is a great improvement for her! Elaine & Denys - Paso Doble: Oooh I can't say I ever imagined Eliane tackling the Paso Doble, as she seems so fun and bubbly... so that makes me all the more excited to see how she'll tackle the Paso. And ooo nicee that they can get to dance to Denys' favorite dance. lmaoo love how Denys came out in that dress for Elaine to teach her the moves. The tight black leather is an interesting look for them. I do feel like for a dance style that doesn't suit Elaine, she did an alright with it. I feel she gave it a good effort but she did seem kinda walky through the steps and I wish she gave more intense attitude. She did attempt it, but I wanted to feel it more. I think she probably need more power and attack in her movements. Lol Elaine feeling like Ross from Friends in the black leather was hilarious. The judges did have some similar constructive criticism that I had for this as well. I think a mix of 5 and 6s for a 23 was fine and fair. I also think this dance was a bit of a backstep from last week's dance. I would probably lower the dance a bit for a 22. Jack & Alex - Cha-Cha: Jack & Alex are such a fun partnership that I am really excited to see them let loose and have fun with this Cha-Cha! Lol the bad boy character that Alex gave Jack and their whole rehearsals on this was so fun and funny to watch. Oooh this was a really steamy, hot and saucy routine here. I loved how this dance had a dark night club feel to it. Jack danced this reallly well. He had great partnering work with Alex and the new yorkers were great. But not only that, he had great rhythm, hand/arm placements, great legwork and he was just very slick and smooth in his movements. I loved the handstand leg move he did towards the end of this. Jack & Alex had fantastic chemistry and they truly sold the dance. He was great on both a technical and performance level. I also love how Arthur mentioned them doing a Troye Sivan dance move and paid homage to it, which I didn't even recognize lmaoo. I feel so out of touch now. But this was such a fun and exciting dance - and once again, Jack was better than I expected. LOL Jack's comments of sobbing after Joanna's dance and then crying how he would have to touch himself after it. Yayy for straight 8s for this dance, though I wouldn't have minded if they threw in a 9 in there. Aishah & Robert - Salsa: Ooh yess, I'm definitely excited to see how Aishah will tackle the Salsa! She has another high paced dance though in the Latin style. lmao Robert's teaching technique of teaching Aishah the Salsa. The opening pose for this dance was really cool. I thought this was a fun and hot dance. Aishah looked hot and gorgeous in this, as usual. I thought she did well with this style. She had good rhythm and musicality and she danced the side by side content well with Robert. I do wish she had more to do with her arms because in the side by side stuff, her arms did seem kinda ~just there? It was strange to me at parts. I thought the lifts were pretty cool - I really liked the last lift. I do get how the lifts weren't as smooth or seamless as they could be. But Aishah did have some moments where she owned it, like where she was struting forward across the stage and the little parts where she was kinda twerking. I do think of her two dances, the ballroom may suit her better as this Salsa wasn't quite as strong as her Quickstep. But it was still good and once again, she's got great potential. A 6 and mostly 7s for a 27 seem fair. I'd go with a 27 or 28 for this. Danny & Salome - Charleston: If there's one thing I know about Salome, is that I know she can deliver a killer Charleston with her celeb partners! Lol awww Danny was afraid to do the lifts with Salome. His fear of that was kinda endearing. I think this is a fun comedic dance that suits Danny really well. I loved the fun theme to it and think it suits him really well. This was a really fun dance. I loved the Lindy Hop feel it had to it. Danny did dance and perform this really well and he showed great improvement in performance and confidence here. Wow Salome reallly went all out and threw herself soo much in those lifts! While Danny did do great, I do think there were a few little iffy parts - he looked a little lost at one part and he did seem a little shaky when he went over Salome's back on that three part cartwheel. He had good footwork in there. It was a good and solid dance for sure.... but I do think the judges could have held back on the 9s. Not quite all 9s/36 for me, I would have been good and fine with moreso all 8s for a 32. I just watched the "Pink Pony Club" group dance and it was a really beautiful and gorgeous group dance! Alex especially shone in that group dance and she really reminded me of Chappell Roan here too. Probably how/why she got the lead here. Rankings: 1. Jack & Alex - Cha-Cha 2. Rhys & Laura - Tango 3. Danny & Salome - Charleston 4. Kayleigh & Ervinas - Viennese Waltz 5/6. Gearóid & Stephen - Cha-Cha 5/6. Aishah & Robert - Salsa 7. Yasmin & Simone - Foxtrot 8. Joanna & Maciej - Waltz 9. Elaine & Denys - Paso Doble 10. Mickey Joe & Daniela - Jive 11. Kevin & Rebecca - Samba I think these are probably my rankings. I would say my #5/#6 are interchangeable and not quite sure how to rank those. I feel certain about everything else. Overall this was a really enjoyable Week 2 show. Already can't wait for the next show! 1
*Wallace Posted Wednesday at 09:30 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:30 PM Week 3 dances are officially announced! Aishah & Robert - Tango to "I Like the Way You Kiss Me" by Artemas Danny & Salome - Jive to "C'mon Everybody" by Eddie Cochran Elaine & Denys - Salsa to "Turn the Beat Around" by Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine Gearóid & Stephen - Viennese Waltz to "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M. Jack & Alex - Jive to "Stay" by The Kid LAROI feat. Justin Bieber Joanna & Maciej - Samba to "Gimme Hope Jo'anna" by DJ Jazzy D The GrooveMaster Kayleigh & Ervinas - Cha-Cha to "Espresso" by Sabrina Carpenter Kevin & Rebecca - Quickstep to "Soda Pop" by Robbie Williams feat. Michael Bublé Mickey Joe & Daniela - Foxtrot to "Too Sweet" by Hozier Rhys & Laura - Cha-Cha to "Treasure" by Bruno Mars Yasmin & Simone - Charleston to "Been Like This" by Meghan Trainor and T-Pain Thoughts: - Looking forward to Aishah's Tango and a completely different side of her. She had lighthearted fun dances so far so it's nice to see a good contrast with a moody Tango. - Having a Charleston and Jive back to back is probably one of the best draws for Danny. It's another high energy fun dance that should suit him well. - Hmmm not too confident with Elaine and the Salsa. But she's got a good classic song and I'm sure she'll give it her all. I don't see her in danger or anything of going. - Nice to see a softer and emotional side from Gearóid. Loving that his first 3 dances have all been completely different from each other. - Three staight week where Jack dances to a modern 2020s song. I wonder how long that will keep going. I love "Stay" and pictured a Jive to it in the past, so it's nice to finally see it coming about. I'm expecting great things from him here. - Oooh dear, NOT the show giving Joanna a Samba. Ugh this could get her in danger of going all over again. LOL the song choice doesn't surprise me either. - I was wondering if someone would get an "Espresso" Cha-Cha... and lol it makes sense for it to be Kayleigh. I see no reason why this would be bad. I'm sure it'll be another good/capable dance from her. - The Quickstep should be better for Kevin than the Samba. I mean the only way is up from there. I don't expect it to be great but maybe it could get him into the 20s? - Yeah it was about time for Mickey Joe to have a slower ballroom dance. This should be a much better dance for him and his scores should improve. It won't hold a candle to Chandler's but should be his best dance yet. - Ooh another party Latin for Rhys. Kinda wish they were more spread out but love this song/style combo and think this should be another great dance for him. - Ahh haha I always imagined a Charleston to "Been Like This" so I love that this dance has finally come to life! This is a dance Yasmin needs to stand out so I hope she gives it her all and can get a breakthrough with this. Though I kinda wish she had gotten this on Week 4 (had she avoided the first elimination) as I think that would help her more on an individual dance/vote.
Ariel1989 Posted Thursday at 04:46 PM Author Posted Thursday at 04:46 PM Thoughts I can see Kayleigh doing well in party Latin, my only gripe is that Espresso is still NOT a Cha-Cha song and if you’re using tracks instead of a band like Ireland does, pick tracks that fit the tempo of the dance (at least Tasha was lucky to compete on a DWTS/Strictly version that has a band to adapt the tempo). Oof, Joanna and the Samba do not sound like a good combo; we saw what happened with Kevin’s attempt so I’m dreading this one. Speaking of Kevin, he’s really got to improve like heck this week but the Quickstep could be daunting footwork-wise for him and again, we saw his feet in the Samba, not looking good. Jack did say that his Week 3 dance would be different from both of his previous dances so the Jive fits that description; he should do well though with him being an athlete and having the stamina and Alex has been pushing him every week to exceed expectations. Danny’s reaction in the “finding out Week 3 dances” clip on IG makes so much sense now haha; another high-energy dance but more technical might work against him, he should be safe though. Mickey Joe finally gets a ballroom; the Foxtrot is super-technical though so he’s probably going to struggle but the audience won’t care given their reactions to his two other bad dances. Aishah and the Tango should be a beautiful combo; she seems more comfortable in ballroom than in Latin at the moment so it should be a better dance than the Salsa. Elaine finally gets a fun dance after two serious ones; I think this could be a good style for her to let loose and show more potential. I think Rhys could do a decent Cha-Cha, not sure if it will be on par with his previous dances but it should still be one of the better dances of the week. Gearóid has proven to be good in both serious and fun dances and I’m predicting the Viennese Waltz with that song will be a tearjerker. Glad that Yasmin has the Charleston, it’s the perfect dance for her to breakout and showcase her personality; I think it could save her this week. For those definitely safe, I’m thinking Kayleigh, Jack, Danny, Mickey Joe, Aishah, Rhys, Gearóid and possibly Yasmin (if she nails this dance) based on either audience reception and/or scores. Joanna, Kevin and Elaine seem to be the most in jeopardy scores-wise; Joanna had the worst Week 1 dance, a decent Week 2 comeback and now a more difficult Latin; Kevin had a weak first dance, the worst second dance and has another fast-paced dance, of this year’s charming mediocre men, he could be the most in danger; Elaine scored the same mediocre score on both of her dances so if she doesn’t show improvement in her third one, she could be in trouble. Joanna and Kevin also each have a rookie pro while Elaine has a popular long-running pro and if there’s a big enough difference in scores, Elaine could get by the first elimination; I do feel like it’s down to Joanna and Kevin scores-wise and based on their next dance styles.
